Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, a spiritual and life changing journey. Documentary shows the pilgrimage holy yatra of Kailash and Manasarovar in month of May-June-2018.
Mt. Kailash is residence of Hindu god, Shiva.
Kailash is situated in Tibet Himalaya ranges. The route of the Yatra is from Nepalgunj-Simikot-Hilsa-Purang-Darchen.
Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, a spiritual and life changing journey can be accomplished via Simikot on Helicopter. This is an 11 days trip where you will travel from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Simikot by flight and take a helicopter ride to Hilsa which is Nepal – China border. After crossing the border we will start a jeep drive to Lake Manasarovar, perform a puja and take a holy bath. Next day we will drive to Yam Dwar from where our Kailash parikrama begins.

Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a pilgrimage and spiritual journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in Tibet. It is considered a significant religious undertaking for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and other spiritual seekers. The yatra involves doing Parikrama(Kora) Mount Kailash and taking a dip in the sacred Lake Manasarovar. The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is considered a symbol of spiritual and physical journey. It is believed that completing this pilgrimage can lead to spiritual transformation, enlightenment, and a closer connection to the divine.One of the central aspects of the yatra is to Kora Mount Kailash. This involves walking around the base of the mountain, which is about 52 kilometers (32 miles) in distance. The path is considered physically demanding and is often undertaken with deep devotion and spiritual intent.
Mount Kailash is considered the abode of Lord Shiva in Hinduism, and it holds great significance in various other religions as well. And Lake Manasarovar is another important pilgrimage site in the region and taking a dip in its holy waters is thought to cleanse one's sins and purify the soul.
The yatra requires physical fitness and mental preparation due to the high altitude and rigorous conditions.
Pilgrims are advised to undergo medical checks and acclimatization procedures before embarking on the journey.
The yatra usually takes place during the summer months when the weather is relatively mild and the routes are accessible. Normally, yatra will be perfect from month of May to September last.

Mt.Kailash Yatra V-log #2: I Touched and Tasted Mount Kailash (can Mt.Kailash be climbed?)
The route of day 2 in a general Kailash kora is from Dirapuk Monastery to Dzultripuk Monastery. However, this time, I would like to show you a special day trek to the glacier of Mount Kailash on my second-day trek of Mount Kailash.
Due to the unique religious significance, Mount Kailash is unclimbable. It is a rare chance to climb up to the glacier of Mount Kailash at 5,700 meters above sea level. And this is the closest way we could see the peak of Mount Kailash.
Let’s follow our video to take the ultimate journey to the center of the world.
I started my trek at 10 a.m. from the Dirapuk Monastery Guesthouse at 5,200 meters above sea level. Finally, I arrived at the flat part of the glacier of Mount Kailash at 5,658 meters after four and a half hours of trekking.
On the way, I saw a small stream from Mt.Kailash, which is actually the source of many big and long rivers in the world, such as the Yarlung Zangbo River, the Ganges River, and the Indus River.
I saw two groups of wild Tibetan Antelopes at 5,400 meters running freely in Mount Kailash as if they were elves of the holy mountain.
Trekking above 5,400 meters above sea level became more and more difficult. Even as a Tibetan, I had to walk for two minutes and stop for a one-minute break. My heart was beating too fast and the oxygen at such altitude was too thin.
Once I reached the flat part of the glacier, the closest place one could get to the top of Mount Kailash, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
I tasted Mount Kailash. I touched Mount Kailash. I Saw Mount Kailash.
After the holy Kailash trek, I visited the Dirapuk Monastery, where you can mainly visit the original meditation cave of the great Master Milarepa. At present, there are only 6 monks taking care of this holy monastery, namely Monk Tashi and his five students.
Enjoying the northern face of the peak of Mount Kailash from Dirapuk Monastery, having some simple snacks offered by the hospitable monks…this could be a lifetime experience of your journey to Mount Kailash.
At the end of today’s sharing, I still want to remind you of a few things below:
1. If you want to do this glacier trek, you need 4 days in total, while an ordinary Kailash kora only takes 3 days.
2. Do not start your trek to the glacier before 10 a.m. for it’s too cold in the morning.
3. Please walk slowly in the mountain area for it’s too high. Even Tibetans take a long breath there.
4. Don’t forget, safety first!

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a religious pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in Tibet, which are considered sacred by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of the ancient Bön religion. One of the central aspects of the yatra is to Kora Mount Kailash and take a dip in the sacred Lake Manasarovar. Our Kailash Manasarovar Yatra started from Kathmandu Nepal to Kailash Manasarovar, Tibet and completed in 10 days. It was a meaningful and really spiritual journey. The weather was perfect in whole yatra and all fellows were in good shape.
This year, visa process has been changed a bit than previous year. For getting a visa you must presence yourself in visa center for bio-metric in Kathmandu Nepal.
So in this video(part 01), we drive from Kathmandu to the border between Nepal and Tibet then Kerung in the first and second day. It was fantastic driving experience through the beautiful landscape. From Kerung to Saga is an another beautiful driving on well made Tibet road.

In this video I am covering two very stunning mountains of the Himalayas. At first I am traveling to a Mount Everest viewpoint. Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world with an altitude of 8848 meters. The views are just stunning.
Later, our journey took us further to the west of Tibet where I stopped by Mount Kailash. Kailash is one of the most sacred mountains in the world.
It is also said to be a very mystical mountain with a lot of legends and mysteries, like distortion of the magnetic field or the link between heaven and earth. Moreover, Kailash is considered as a very important place in 4 religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Bön.
Therefore, the mountain attracts thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. Besides the mystical facts about Kailash, the area of the mountain is also home to two major lakes which are fueled by glacier water from Kailash: Lake Rakshastal and Manasarovar. The latter is the origin of some of the most important rivers in South Asia, such as the Indus, Brahmaputra, and even a main tributary to the Ganges River in India...

Kailash and Manasarovar
A pilgrimage trek completing the outer kora circuit around Mount Kailash, also visiting several sites around Lake Manasarovar. From Kathmandu we flew in a small plane over the western Nepal Himalayas to the mountain village of Simikot. From here we aclimatising to the altitude as we trekked over Nara Bhanjyang La reaching the Chinese border at Hilsa in 6 days walking. After a night camping on the shore of Manasarovar we spent 5 days on our Kailash kora. Finally after two more nights by the sacred lake we returned across the Tibetan plateau, with views of Shishapangma from Lalung La, making a road crossing back into Nepal at Zang Mu. The trip was from 21st September - 11th October 2013.

Every year, I take many tourists from all over the world to Mount Kailash, doing their lifetime treks here.
As the most sacred Mountain for people of four religions in the world, Mount Kailash is believed as the residence of Shiva and the center of the world in Hindu, the ancient spiritual seat of power in Tibetan religion of Bon, the place where Rishabhadeva, the creator of the faith, attained freedom from the circle of life and rebirth in Jainism, and the represents of endless happiness in Tibetan Buddhism. From above, you can even see an image of Lord Shiva, on the mountain.
I did the kora many times and met many pilgrims in the past. I heard from them that if one is lucky enough, he/she could see Lord Shiva appears on the way.
But in my opinion, they, the most devout pilgrims, are Lord Shiva that I’ve seen, because they are the ones that praying not for themselves, they are praying for every living being on the earth.
The elder families from Eastern Tibet, the teenage girls from Eastern Tibet, the lama from George, and many other prostrators …all the pilgrims I met on the way brought me much power. They are not only strong in physical, but also strong in mind.
For these prostrators, it takes 15 days for a full Mount Kailash kora, while the general trekking around Mount Kailash just takes 3 days.
I will show you every corner of the mountain Kailash that I experienced during my 2020 Mount Kailash kora. Here comes the record of my first day.
Day 1: From Darchen to Dirapuk Monastery (6rs, 20km)
On the first day, I walked along the southern edge of Mount Kailash from Darchen. The first part of that day’s journey is a relatively easy trek from Darchen to the first teahouse.
After 3 hours, I arrived at the first teahouse at noon, where all trekkers can get some simple food supplement. I really enjoyed my egg fried rice after my half-day trekking.
When I finished my lunch, I continued on for the rest 10 kilometers from the first teahouse. The route of Kailash kora is beside a small river that coming from Mount Kailash. It is actually the source of many big rivers in Asia.
I finally arrived at the campsite near Dirapuk Monastery at 5:40 p.m. There is a guesthouse where you can stay overnight with simple quadruple rooms (without private toilets). Not far from the campsite is the Dirapuk Monastery, from which you can see the north face of Mount Kailash.
This is just day 1 of my Mount Kailash trekking, and I will keep uploading the next three parts next week. I also did the inner kora of Mount Kailash, yeah~~ Please kindly stay tuned.

Mt.Kailash Inner Kora: the Closest Way to Feel Lord of Shiva ( I Tasted Mt.Kailash Again )
In the low of religion, when you finish 13 out kora around Mount Kailash then you are allowed to do the Mount Kailash Inner Kora, also known as Nandi Kora in India. It is said that only by completing 13 out koras can you cleanse yourself of all your sins. So it means that only people without sin are permitted to do the inner kora.
Of course, this is only a constraint for religious believers. On this particular trip, I met a young lady. As a person of no faith, why did she choose this strenuous trekking route, why did she come to Kailash, and why did she come here?
“I just heard about Mount Kailash a long time ago. During this difficult year, I think just come to see it. Without any religion or anyone force me. I just want to see and feel it by myself. And I never imagine that I could get so far. I’m so lucky. I can’t describe the whole trip. Every day is amazing. Every single person I met on the way, every single second I spent here, just perfect, makes the whole trip. ”
So it seems that the power of the sacred Mount Kailash is not only for the pilgrims but even for ordinary people. Mount Kailash inspires people in its own way and brings blessing to them.
As someone who has over 10 years of experience as a Tibetan guide and has been here 59 times, I will share some trekking tips with you here.
Started from Serlung Monastery, which is 5 kilometers away from Darchen Town, the inner kora of Mount Kailash is 34 kilometers long. The lowest port of Kailash Inner Kora is 5300 meters above sea level, while the highest point is 5900 meters above sea level.
It is important to know how to stay healthy at such a high altitude.
Of course, physical health is the primary condition. Even I, a Tibetan, would feel some strain trekking here. So before you decide to take Kailash inner kora, make sure you do a good physical exercise to make sure your body can withstand a long trek in the plateau.
Also is to consult your doctor and tell him/her that you are going to travel to Tibet. In my experience, Acetazolamide (Diamox) is the most effective medication to prevent altitude sickness. However, you have to follow your doctor's advice and carry some medications that are effective for you to prevent altitude sickness.
A pair of comfortable hiking shoes is also a must. The inner kora path is almost always rocky and very difficult to walk, and you will need to climb to reach the 13 Golden Chortens and Saptarishi Cave on the last section of the inner kora of Mount Kailash. This is the most dangerous section of the inner kora to reach the highest and also the end part of the kora. A good pair of hiking shoes will make you safer while climbing the rocks.
