If you've never heard of a Turkish Bath before, then prepare yourself for what you're about to see! Truth be told - I've never felt cleaner before in my life... but the process of getting clean is beyond intimidating.
My first time doing a Turkish Bath was in 2012 in Istanbul, and all I can remember is an old, hairy Turkish man scrubbing down every millimeter of my body with sandpaper and soap...
I decided to do it again here in the Southeastern Turkish city of Mardin, and document the entire process so you can see what it's like from first-hand experience.

Kusadasi, Turkey is a great small Turkish port where you can enjoy the unique culture. After a morning at Ephesus, we filled ourselves with Turkish Delights before our Turkish Bath Experience at Selcuk Hamam. We had no idea what we were in for, being scrubbed like a baby. ???? If you’ve never heard of it, it's a popular and brutal Turkish bath and massage.
When I visited Turkey last time, I went to a hammam and experienced the harsh bathing process for myself.
I’m not going to lie, it was a tough experience, but I couldn't forget how refreshed I felt after the whole process.
Finally, there was a chance for me to return to Turkey and try hammam again.
But this hammam was totally different from last time.

To put it in one word, it is brutal.
We went to a hammam in a city called Izmir the other day and got a massage there.

Ever wonder what a Turkish bath is really like? or just want to laugh at some tourist trying to figure it out? We decided to be those confused, brave, and nervous noobs trying out the full Turkish bath experience. Yes, I had to get naked, Yes, no one spoke English, and YES, IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!
We cannot recommend this enough, we think every tourist should try this. Ağa Hamamı really is such a great way to experience Istanbul and real Turkish culture.

Hammam: it’s a traditional Turkish bathhouse.
I’ve gotten a massage in Turkey a couple of times, and frankly speaking, I felt like I was being abused there.
Hammam culture has become widespread, not only in Turkey, but also in other Islamic countries.
During my Palestine trip, I had a great opportunity to visit the oldest hammam in Palestine, built almost 400 years ago.
Through interactions with locals there, I got a glimpse of deep Palestinian culture that I would’ve never known before.
In this video, I’m going to share my unique experience at a hammam in Palestine.

Would You Try This Turkish Bath ????????
We tried a traditional hammam bath in Istanbul Turkey for the first time. This is basically a Turkish bath which involves deep cleaning and lots of relaxation. A lot of bubbles are needed to clean the body as well as a strong sponge or loofa to remove all the dead skin cells off the body. Some strong massaging as well is needed in order to send the person receiving the Hamman to sleep. Done correctly it can have asmr effects and cause deep sleep and relaxation after getting the hammam / traditional Turkish bath. This is our DIY version that we attempted to do ourselves since the prior hotel I was staying it had their Hammam closed while we stayed there. Hope you guys enjoy this traditional hammam bath experience in Istanbul Turkey.

This is the final video in my Russia (Siberia) series, and I think it’s the most entertaining! In the city of Novosibirsk, I walked into a traditional Russian bathhouse (called a banya), and I was greeted by a giant man named Herman. Herman ordered me to take off all my clothes and enter a 160-degree sauna (70C). I was then beaten by thorny Russian birch trees as well as a thick wooden stick. Then, I went outside to get an ice-cold bucket of water was poured on my head.
The Russian banya experience took me back to the time when I did a Turkish bath, but this one was more intense! I absolutely love doing these activities - it’s the reason why I love traveling - to experience new cultures and learn about how other people spend their days. And truth be told, I felt very clean and relaxed after this bath — despite the pain that I went through!
