The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean Sea. Known from the movies as the place where billionaires send there money, where hedge funds run and where criminals retire (which of course is largely a fantasy).
The island is full of brilliant, highly educated people in search of a good life style with good income. It doesn't hurt that it's one of the most beautiful places in the world. I originally came here to do auditing, and now work in healthcare on island.

While I love living in the Cayman Islands, no place in the world is perfect. In this video I share some of the less glamorous parts to living on this tropical island. Things that you wouldn't find in a glossy travel magazine. Of course, I am well aware that these are very minor, 'first world problems.' But they are things you should brace yourself for that not everyone would know when considering Grand Cayman or it's Caribbean sister islands as their future home. Now please excuse me whilst I soothe my island fever with a Cayman sunset.

Driving around Grand Cayman - Cayman Islands (2023)
We booked an excursion when we visited Grand Cayman in May 2023. It was a 4,5 hrs excursion with some stops. We usually book such a tour when visiting a place for the first time. To see more locations, get a feeling of the island, or city to decide if it's worth coming back.
We enjoyed the drive. We made a short stop and the Good Mood Swing (#goodmoodswing) to take some selfies and our first stop was at the Colliers Public Beach ( where we had a short walk on the beach. The colors of the sea are stunning. No surprise and we never can get enough.
We saw here freely roaming roosters and chickens for the first time on the island.
Our next stop was the Wreck of the Ten Sail Memorial ( which is a good spot to learn more about the most famous shipwreck disaster in the history of Cayman Islands, and it is a nice lookout. The panorama is gorgeous.
We did not stop at the Blow Holes ( There was nothing to see, due to current circumstances (no waves, low tide...).
Therefore, we had a break at the Tortuga Rum Company ( where we could taste the cake and rum with different flavors. The cake is really good!
Our next stop was the famous Seven Mile Beach ( It's a nice place where we could spend a fun day, if we would stay on the island.
Again, the color of the water just mesmerizes us every time!
After leaving the beach, we went to Hell ( (and back), which is an interesting geologic formation. There is a funny souvenir shop. I could imagine a restaurant there, named Hell's Kitchen. That would be great.
It was a nice ride. We would go to Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park ( next time.
We could spend here a week easily, chill out and discover some other places on the island.

Chartering a Boat for a perfect day in the Cayman Islands
Chartering a boat and heading out into the beautiful Caribbean ocean that surrounds the Cayman Islands is one of the best things you can do with friends in Cayman. Week of Cayman Islands SCUBA Diving
Just as other places have seasonal sightings this time of year we tend to see a lot of Loggerhead Turtles.
We always have a lot of Hawksbill, Caribbean Reef Sharks and lots of small creatures to keep the video rolling and the cameras flashing.
