Victoria Falls - Mosi-oa-Tunya, Zambia & Zimbabwe [Amazing Places 4K]
Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa-Tunya - The Smoke That Thunders) is one of the most spectacular, awe-inspiring waterfalls on our planet. It is located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, on Zambezi River. The mist from the waterfall can be seen from far away and sustains nearby rainforest.
Victoria Falls is considered the largest waterfall, based on its combined width (1,708 m/5,604 ft) and height (108 m/354 ft), even though it is not the highest or the widest. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A Birds-Eye View Of The Zambezi River
On a recent visit to Zambia, Peace Parks’ Lilian Spijkerman, and a group from the Dutch non-profit organisation, DOB Ecology, are picked up by two helicopters at the Zambian Horseback Safari Lodge to get a birds-eye view of the Ngonye Falls Community Partnership Park and gain a deeper understanding of the area's development potential.
Situated some 340 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls, Ngonye forms one of the main tourist attractions in the upper part of the Zambezi River. The falls forms a part of a Community Partnership Park, a project which is being spearheaded by the local communities, the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife and supported by Peace Parks Foundation. Tourism infrastructure is well underway, with a visitor’s centre and six new campsites already constructed, with the planning of a new lodge overlooking the falls marking the next phase of development.
The area promises immense community upliftment opportunities, all the while conserving a large part of one of Africa’s greatest rivers and the wildlife that depend on it.

Our fantastic video was shot in Mana Pools National Park in Northern of Zimbabwe on the border of Zambia in the Zambezi Valley. Mana Pools is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the few big game areas in Africa that guests are allowed to explore on foot.
Mana Pools is an ideal place to enjoy nature and wildlife in close proximity. It a remote park, it is situated far from major towns and settlements. Just nature, animals, birds, serenity and tranquility.

The Zambezi is the fourth-longest river in Africa. It is one of the most exciting habitats in the world. The Zambezi's most noted feature is Victoria Falls.
The story of the Zambezi is the story of Africa.
The river supports large populations of creatures that depend on its waters. Hippopotamuses are abundant along the stretches of the river, crocodiles are also present. Monitor lizards are found in many places. Millions of birds are present, including heron, pelican, egret and African fish eagle. Riverine woodland also supports many large animals, such as buffalo, zebras, giraffes, elephants.

The Journey Zambia - Last wave of the Zambezi
South African surfers embark on a 4x4 road trip to Zambia in search of a rumoured river wave. Zambia is a landlocked country thousands of kilometres away from the nearest ocean, and to surf a rare and powerful standing wave on the mighty Zambezi River seems impossible. This barreling river wave is a phenomenon, one of the only river waves of it's kind in the world. The elusive standing wave on the Zambezi River hardly ever breaks, but when it does, it’s raw, powerful and laced with danger; and... it had never been surfed before. The Zambezi River is the fourth longest river in Africa. It is wild and dangerous, full of rocks, rapids and home to large crocodiles and hippos, not a place for surfers to be dipping their toes... could this be the craziest wave in the world? Or the best surf trip of all time. This travel documentary is tale of extreme adventure in Southern Africa, an epic overland journey...
With surfboards strapped to the roof of a first-generation Toyota Fortuner, the crew including talented pro surfers, Koby Oberholzer and ex-World Championship Tour campaigner, Royden Bryson, set off from Durban on an unusual, and extremely dangerous, surf road trip that would take them across South Africa, Botswana and finally, Zambia, covering well over 6 000 km’s on this road trip. Driving through Southern Africa, they spot many animals along the way, including Elephant, Giraffe and Hippo.
After countless hours of driving, the crew finally reached the Zambezi River, which was crossed on an industrial barge ferry and made their way to Livingstone where the team stood in awe of the magnificent Victoria Falls. The Victoria falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, a world heritage site and it one of the top places to visit in Africa.
They also went on Safari in the nearby game reserves.
Now it was time to surf the Zambezi river. Armed with life vests, helmets and Nyami-Nyamis for protection in the gorge and on the river, Koby and Royden took a leap of faith and scored the wave of a lifetime, but not without their fair share of gnarly wipeouts.
This really is a trip of a lifetime, and one of the best road trips in Southern Africa.
