Ladakh is a high-altitude cold desert in the rain shadows of the Himalayas with 300 days of sunshine and only 100 millimetres of precipitation annually. Even though it hardly rains in Ladakh, storm and localized heavy downpour can cause flash floods and mudslides. In Leh, at 3,500 metres altitude, the average temperature reaches 25°C during the day in summer while it dips to -15°C at night in winter. It can be significantly colder at higher altitude where night-time temperatures can drop below zero even in summer. Always take warm clothing and protect yourself from the strong sun when travelling in Ladakh

Ladakh in Winter | India Ep 01 | In every nook and corner

Welcome to Ladakh, a place that was on my bucketlist for as long as I can remember and I finally got to tick it off last March. Weather in Winter can be very harsh and unpredictable, but we were lucky enough to complete the trip as per planned itinerary. In Winter the roads to Leh are closed, so you can only travel by air.
4N/5D itinerary (minus the acclimatisation period):
Day 1: Airport pickup, After lunch Leh Palace, Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Shanti Stupa, Leh market - overnight stay in Leh
Day 2: Via Khardungla- Nubra, Diskit monastery - overnight stay in Nubra
Day 3: Turtuk, Thang, Hunder sand dunes - overnight stay in Nubra.
Day 4: Via Shyok river - Pangong, Changla pass, Thiksey monastery, Shey palace (was part of day 4, but I skipped this) - overnight stay in Leh
Day 5: Airport drop

8 Things To Do in Leh-Ladakh on Day 1 | Winter Ladakh Episode-2
Leh-Ladakh is everyone’s dream place. Most of the people want to go there. I also dreamt about this but never thought I would travel in winter. Cold, high altitude and minus temperature scared me but still I decided to go there.
Cars are best for the winter season so I will not recommend driving on a bike. For a bike road trip, you should wait for summer. In winter, Ladakh becomes a heaven.
On Day 1, Everyone says to stay in Leh and acclimatise yourself. Yes you should, but if you take an early morning flight, you have a good time to rest. And after that you can explore many nearby places in Leh which I have shown in video. Watch the full video.
???? HOW TO REACH: In winter, you can reach Leh only by flight. Because of snowfall, roads are blocked.
????️ WHERE TO STAY: There are many beautiful homestay/ hotels and hostels for backpackers.
???? WHAT TO EAT: In winter, there are very few shops which open so try to go as early as possible for food. You will get many dishes there, vegetarian and non-vegetarian both in Leh.
