WINTER ARMENIA | TSAGHKADZOR SKI RESORT
If the Tsaghkadzor is Armenia's defining geographical feature, skiing and snowboarding at Tsaghkadzor ski resort must be its signature activities. Superb and among the most accessible in the country, Tsaghkadzor ski resort is just within 40 minutes drive from the Armenia’s capital Yerevan and the Zvartnots International Airport.
Easy and scenic, the resort is a family-friendly adventure and a great place to introduce anyone to the wonder of skiing and outdoor exploration. With vast, snowy landscapes and horizons rimmed with mountains, the Mount Teghenis is the biggest draw, with its terrain for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
Originally built to train the Soviet athletes for the 1988 Winter Olympics, Tsaghkadzor ski resort offers the diverse ski runs on the mountain slope, ideal for beginners, for amateur and advanced skiers. All lifts are manufactured and operated by the Leitner Group (Italy), and all the chair lifts equipped with magic carpet boarding systems.

The Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort is located just above the Armenian town of Tsaghkadzor approximately 60 km from Armenia’s capital Yerevan and the Zvartnots Airport.
The town of Tsaghkadzor is located at 1750m above sea level on the southeast slope of mount Teghenis.
There were initially three consecutive lifts stretching from the foot of the mountain (1969m above sea level) up till the mountain peak (2819m), with the first and second lifts ending at 2234m and 2465m above sea level respectively.
Apart from the lifts the resort offers ski and snowboard rental as well as skiing instructors.
The skiing season in Tsaghkadzor normally starts mid December and stretches well into March with the top slopes often fit for skiing in April.

Located almost at the top of Mount Tanegizon at an altitude of 1840 m, Tsaghkadzor ski resort id one of the best ski resorts in Armenia and even in Caucasus.
It is approximately 60 km northeast of the capital Yerevan.
For skiing and snowboarding, there are 27 km of slopes available and 6 lifts transport the guests.
There were initially three consecutive lifts stretching from the foot of the mountain (1969m above sea level) up till the mountain peak (2819m), with the first and second lifts ending at 2234m and 2465m above sea level respectively. Then, in 2006 a fourth lift was added, stretching from the end of the first stage towards an opposite hilltop, thus adding two trails, both leading down to the foot of the slopes.
The first stage of the lifts is a four-seater and all the others are double seater chairlifts equipped with magic carpet boarding systems.
The skiing season in Tsaghkadzor starts in mid-December and stretches well into March, with the top slopes often fit for skiing in April.
Apart from the lifts the resort offers ski and snowboard rental as well as skiing instructors.
There are three cafés located at the foot of the mount and at the end of the first and second lifts.
Equipment rental cost: a set of a skier (skis, boots, poles) — 5000 AMD per day, a set of a snowboarder (snowboard, boots) — 7000 AMD , glasses — 2000 AMD , helmet — 2000 AMD . Lesson with an instructor — 10,000-15,000 AMD / hour.

The Armenian Ski fields in Tsakhkadzor were the training grounds for the Soviet Olympic team.
The town hosted the USSR Olympic team in 1976, before the Olympics in Mexico.
In Tsakhkadzor is located the Main Sports Complex of Armenia (former USSR main sports complex).
It's height above the sea level is 1900-2100m.
