This is video of Cabarete Dominican Republic, located approximately 40 km east of Puerto Plata and 20 km east of the POP Airport, is a charismatic little beach town that attracts sports enthusiasts and sun worshippers from all over the world. Until the late 1980's, this town was not much of a town at all, but a vacation area for a few Dominicans from Moca and Santiago. A couple of foreigners discovered the ideal windsurfing conditions in Cabarete Bay, and this secret spot didn't stay secret very long. Since the late 80's the town has hosted both professional and amateur international windsurfing competitions. In 2000, kitesurfing started to take off, and the town has hosted international professional competitions every year since. Cabarete is considered by many to be one of the top places in the world to windsurf and kitesurf, but that's not all that can be done here. You can surf, mountain bike, horseback ride, go canyoning, and take part in so many other adventures, or just simply enjoy the fun in the sun to be found here

ORIENT BAY ~ BAIE ORIENTALE ~ St Martin ~ Best UAV Drone Caribbean Aerials ~ WeBeYachting.com

A video of epic UAV Quadcopter drone flight over some of the beautiful locations of Orient Bay Beach, St Martin. Enjoy.. Orient Beach is the most developed, the most popular and the busiest beach on the island, probably the most famous beach in the entire Caribbean. The beach is reputed as much for its natural beauty and setting as it is for being the island´s foremost swimsuit optional beach.

Clothing is optional in front of the Club, and it is publicly accessible. The other parts of the beach has more clothing, but in fact you may encounter nude sunbathers anywhere.

Orient Bay is the only beach on St. Martin with a large number of beach bars and restaurants directly located on the beach.

Encuentro Playa Beach ~ Dominican Republic ~Caribbean Drone Footage ~WeBeYachting.com

We are proud to say that we own land here off this incredible beach, Encuentro is such a beautiful place. Sharing some the incredible destinations we have the chance to visit and explore! Destinations in this video: Encuentro Beach “Playa” Dominican Republic

Encuentro Beach is an isolated stretch of beach in the Puerto Plata province of the Dominican Republic. Located between the more populated cities of Sosúa and Cabarete this popular surfing beach is accessible to the public via dirt roads.
Encuentro Beach consists of five distinctive breaks:
Coco Pipe is a serious, powerful and hollow reefbreak which favors high tide and North or Northwest swell. This wave is almost always bigger than it looks from the beach, with a heavy vertical drop. This was first surfed by Bam Rossiter, who managed to ride a 589ft wave fakie.
Bobo's Point is a series of consistent peaks with a hollow but easy take off. It is powerful when overhead and best at low to mid tide on a Northeast swell.
La Derecha, meaning the right, is the North Coast's most consistent surf spot. Two peaks, outside and inside with two distinct take off zones, and a reef that breaks like a point combine to create a wave that breaks with any swell direction and any size.
La Izquierda, meaning the left, is a hollow barreling performance reefbreak. Two sections that usually connect make up this fairly long wave. It is also very consistent with something to ride almost every day, although the wave tends to close out at heights over 12 feet (4 meters).
Destroyer is a powerful, hollow and shallow left, over a sharp reef. This dangerous wave breaks best at 8 to 10 feet (3 meters).

Ile Fourchue ~ St Barths ~ Saint Barthelemy ~ Epic UAV Drone Caribbean ~ WeBeYachting.com

Île Fourchue, 17° 57.3N ~ 062° 54.7W also known as Île Fourche is an island between Saint-Barthélemy and Saint Martin, belonging to the Collectivity of Saint Barthélemy. The island is privately owned and the owners do not want people lighting fires and throwing parties on the island. They don't mind people taking a quiet stroll around the island. The highest point is 340 ft above sea level. It is situated within Réserve naturelle nationale de Saint-Barthélemy. The next time you’re in Saint-Barth, take the opportunity to visit Fourchue, uninhabited islet located 2 miles northwest of Colombier beach. It is a perfect and nearby choice for pleasure boating and picnicking, daytripping or overnight “weather permitting”. There are few mooring for vessels up to 60ft or max 25 tons, for larger vessels you can drop anchor to the south or west of the moorings. Spearfishing, jet skiing and water skiing are strictly forbidden. Part of St. Barth’s marine reserve, Fourchue offers boaters a peaceful place to moor and snorkelers need only hop overboard to acquaint themselves with the underwater of the bay: tropical fish, rays and tons of sea turtles. When exploring Fourchue, bring ample sunscreen, a hat, good sunglasses, water and finally thick-soled, close-toed walking shoes. The island’s former residents, a herd of goats, were placed into early retirement. But when they lived on the islet, they nibbled through every green thing that grew, leaving nothing but naked, rocky terrain populated by cactus, the only thing the goats seemed to show little taste for. Since their departure, the island is greener than it used to be, but it’s a far cry from lush. It is by arid by any standard, and there’s not a shade tree in sight. If you can brave the terrain, you’ll enjoy gamboling up and down Fourchue’s five hills- the highest measuring 340 ft and catching some panoramic views of both St. Barts and St. Martin. You may even see some of the balancing rock installations (artist/s unknown) that have gone up in clusters around the islet.
During your hike, chances are high that you’ll run into the ‘bones’ of the island’s history.  A cistern-in-ruins bears silent testimony to the fact that the island was not always uninhabited. According to records, it was the Swedes who first took interest in the islet. More particularly, it was Swedish botanists, who in 1826, catalogued over 300 plant species there. Around 1788, a young Swedish doctor observed that nowhere else in the Caribbean had he seen as many “English head” (melocactus intortus) as in Fourchue. This particular species of cactus, also found in St. Barths, produces tart, yet edible magenta fruits the size of pumpkin seeds, and at the time, was the snack-of-choice for Fourchue’s wild rabbit and goat population. He shared Fourchue with “several hundred goats” and “an innumerable flock of birds”. At the time the doctor made his observations, the island was also used for quarantine. “When there is a smallpox outbreak”, he noted, “it is customary to send the sick here.” Sickness and isolation were but two of the incalculable hardships suffered by African slaves who were forcibly brought to the Caribbean on European vessels.  Later, around 1813, a Frenchman made Fourchue his home. According to historical accounts, the native of Marseille spent the last fourteen years of his life as a naked hermit. He was reported to have used a coffin as his bed for the duration of his island tenure. He was buried in his ‘bed’, but no trace of his tomb has ever been found. For those who visit the islet today, it is hard to imagine that the island was once animated by pirates and sea merchants who sailed through the West Indies, or by ruthless traders who ran a thriving business of human trafficking. As it turns out, Fourchue’s calm waters made the perfect hand-off spot for contraband, gunpowder among them, freely and illegally traded by American, French and English marines alike. Swedish archives document how pirates captured an American vessel with 380 slaves aboard who were sold off for the sum of $30,000 to unscrupulous bidders. Though they condemned slavery, St. Barth’s former Swedish governors would sidestep moral policy. Heinous or not, the slave trade meant wealth for both local merchants and the Swedish crown, and governors reluctantly tolerated the practice.

Epic aerial footage of Shirley Heights Antigua ~ Best UAV Drone Caribbean ~ WeBeYachting.com

This is some unused but epic footage we had shot but haven't published it. Just could not, not share it, please enjoy it.

SHIRLEY HEIGHTS (from 1780 to 1850)

This military complex, within a short distance of the Dockyard, is not named after the fairer sex, but after Sir Thomas Shirley, Governor of the Leeward Islands, who strengthened Antigua’s defenses in 1781. Britain had lost all her West Indian colonies (including North America) at this time except Antigua and Barbados. Much effort, therefore, was put into Antigua’s defenses, mainly because of the island’s great sugar producing value and the important Dockyard. Shirley Heights may be divided into three sections:

1 The Ridge and Artillery Quarters.  A Ridge, on which several ruins may be noted, leads to the Heights. The first buildings on the left are the Royal Artillery Gunner’s Barracks along with the Train of Artillery building (now a research centre), built in 1790 for 60 men. After the army left, it became a lunatic asylum.
2 The Lookout. This high point (about 490 ft.) affords a superb view of English and Falmouth Harbors, the best view in Antigua.  Today, it is a Sunday afternoon rendezvous for a sampling of local music and culture. Behind the gun platform is the site of a flagstaff that once sent signals all around Antigua.
3 Blockhouse. This is the easternmost part of the military complex, with a magnificent view looking over the south-east coast . It was designed as a place of last refuge, which is indeed the meaning of the word. A moat opposing the vertical cliffs was originally planned, but was never started. The Officer's Quarters is in ruin as are the out buildings, servants quarters, married quarters and stables. There is a fine powder magazine, cistern and catchment  that have received some restoration work.

TODAY - The complex is mainly in ruin except the Lookout that has been reutilised as a restaurant. Unfortunately, even though a CFTC historical architect drew restoration plans, the building was reconstructed as a profit making investment, the main problem being the use of dormers and the battlement built on where another section further north had been designated.
The splendid arches of three Officer’s Quarters were destroyed by various hurricanes due to the lack of preventative shoring up of the walls, (due to lack of funds). They now need to be rebuilt with the saved original masonry. The site is still a fine tourist attraction, mainly because of two of the best views and epic sunsets (of the Atlantic and of English Harbor) to be had in the island.

Epic STINGRAY CITY ANTIGUA ~ Best underwater & UAV Drone Caribbean ~ WeBeYachting.com

We had the opportunity to visit the Stingray City, where you can snorkel with Southern Stingrays in their natural environment. Located of the coast of Antigua on one of the most beautiful reefs.

With flat, wide bodies, stingrays may not look like fish, but they are!

Stingrays are commonly found in the shallow coastal waters of temperate seas. They spend the majority of their time inactive, partially buried in sand, often moving only with the sway of the tide. The stingray's coloration commonly reflects the seafloor's shading, camouflaging it from predatory sharks and larger rays. Their flattened bodies are composed of pectoral fins joined to their head and trunk with an infamous tail trailing behind. There is 60 species of stingrays around the world.

Some factual information:
1.The largest species of stingray measure 6.5 feet in length and can weigh up to 790 pounds.
2.Stingrays are closely related to sharks.
3.They use this venom to protect them from predators. In fact, Greek dentists once used it as anesthetic.
4. Stingrays eat clams, shrimp, and mussels. Since their mouths on on the underside of their bodies, they catch their prey, then crush and eat with their powerful jaws.
5. While the stingray's eyes peer out from its dorsal side, its mouth, nostrils, and gill slits are situated on its underbelly. Its eyes are therefore not thought by scientists to play a considerable role in hunting. Like its shark relatives, the stingray is outfitted with electrical sensors called ampullae of Lorenzini. Located around the stingray's mouth, these organs sense the natural electrical charges of potential prey.
6. they swing is groups known as schools.
7. Stingrays give birth each year. They can have between 2 and 6 offsprings a year, each which can live between 15 and 25 years in the wild.
8. When they are inclined to move, most stingrays swim by undulating their bodies like a wave; others flap their sides like wings. The tail may also be used to maneuver in the water, but its primary purpose is protection.
9. The stingray's spine, or barb, can be ominously fashioned with serrated edges and a sharp point. The underside may produce venom, which can be fatal to humans, and which can remain deadly even after the stingray's death. In Greek mythology, Odysseus, the great king of Ithaca, was killed when his son, Telegonus, struck him using a spear tipped with the spine of a stingray.
10. Stingrays are totally HARMLESS if left alone, they get a bad rap because on 4 September 2006 Irwin was on location at Batt Reef, near Port Douglas, Queensland, taking part in the production of the documentary series Ocean's Deadliest. During a lull in filming caused by inclement weather, Irwin decided to snorkel in shallow waters while being filmed in an effort to provide footage for his daughter's television programme.
While swimming in chest-deep water, Irwin approached a stingray with an approximate span of two metres (6.5 ft) from the rear, in order to film it swimming away.
According to the incident's only witness, “All of a sudden [the stingray] propped on its front and started stabbing wildly with its tail. Striking within a few seconds”. Irwin initially believed he only had a punctured lung; but the stingray's barb pierced his heart, causing him to bleed to death. The stingray's behaviour appeared to have been a defensive response to being boxed in. Crew members aboard Irwin's boat administered CPR and rushed him to shore. Medical staff pronounced him dead at the scene.
Irwin's death is believed to be the only fatality from a stingray ever captured on video.
Footage of the incident was viewed by Queensland state police as part their mandatory investigations. All copies of the footage were then destroyed at the behest of Irwin's family.Production was completed on Ocean's Deadliest, which was broadcast in the US on the Discovery Channel on 21 January 2007. The documentary was completed with footage shot in the weeks following the accident, but without including any mention of Irwin's accidental death.

AGAIN STINGRAYS ARE TOTALLY HARMLESS IF LEFT ALONE.

We are always glad to hear your comments and cheers from the IGY Simpson Bay Marina in Sint Maarten.

Low Bay beach is 17 of unbroken miles of pink sand beach. With mysterious abandoned forts, Neolithic caves and beachfront untouched since the days of Christopher Columbus, Barbuda is host to a wild bird sanctuary standing on a mesmerizing lagoon. A liberal scattering of ancient shipwrecks off its shores, Barbuda is both the deepest retreat into solitude you could dream of and almost untouched to the world.

Wilderness SURF BREAK ~ SXM ~ EPIC DRONE CARIBBEAN ~ WeBeYachting.com ~ CabareteGetAway.com

Wilderness Surf Break ~ Located in the North of the island of Saint Martin, this spot deserves it's name ” Wilderness” because it’s quite the wild wave and hard to access. Totally reserved for self reliant and advanced surfer. You must park the car at “Grandes Cayes”, then you gonna be humping up the chemin des froussards” for a 20 minutes hike walking successively along the water’s edge, on a little cliff and on a volcanic setting. Follow the path forged by the flow of surfers going there walking where they don’t go by boat.
Getting in the water can be perilous because of the coral reef covered by sea urchins. When the North/North Est swell is ON, this right hand break provides a long wall that allow surfer to link vertical tricks and cut back : pay attention! at the end of the wave, there are big coral head rocks.
This is probably the best spot on the island for good surfer, by the way the hike is enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this wild Sint Maarten coast.

POINTE DU BLUFF ~ Saint Martin ~ Best Drone Caribbean ~ WeBeYachting.com

On the island of Saint Martin, as on most Caribbean islands, there are a variety of ruins. The most celebrated are the old forts, like Fort Louis overlooking Marigot. Numerous sugar mills and plantations, some now hidden in the forests, are architectural reminders of the island’s colonial past. There are other ruins, though, that take us to the not-so-distant past, specifically the 1995 hurricane season that brought Hurricane Luis.
Remnants from that summer of destruction can be found throughout the island, from Mullet Bay to Le Galion. Most are simply eyesores and reminders of the power of mother nature. There is, however, one that transcends the mundane.
La Belle Creole was a luxury resort located at the southeast tip of Marigot Bay near Pointe du Bluff. The 25-acre complex, with dozens of buildings, has been left to the elements for almost two decades. With a tall, pink tower, it can easily be seen from Marigot or the sea. Centuries ago, the prime location housed a battery of cannons to defend the island against intruders. Legend has it that the site is even home to an ancient Indian burial ground.

The CURSED Hotel ~ LA BELLE CREOLE ~ Saint Martin ~ Best UAV Drone Caribbean ~ WeBeYachting.com

La Belle Créole Hotel was supposed to be a luxury resort, a small island of Saint Martin in the Caribbean. It’s origins date back to year 1964 when a well-known hotelier Claudius Charles Philippe who did everything to realize his dream by building this Titanic luxury hotel . In the early sixties he purchased this 300 acres piece of land in Nettle Bay and began the project. Hiring world famous architects who’s job was to create Mr. Philippe’s visionary ideas. The architects where faced by massive demands including furniture for each of the 200 plus rooms had to be modeled to look like Louis XIII era. Each room was to have a spectacular views and at the bathrooms were to be tiled with Italian marble, doors hand-carved mahogany wood and each floor had to be a different pattern of tile work. The hotel was to have a casino, a nightclub and boutiques with luxury goods as well. Unfortunately in 1969 all the funds for the project dried up and the hotel project laid dormant for many years. Unfortunately Claude Philippe died in 1978 without ever seeing his dream come true.
La Belle Créole gained a new project owner and the hotel was opened in 1988. Of the original 300-acre property was reduced to 25 acres and instead of 300 only 156 rooms were finished. The casino and nightclubs were ever built at all. The only thing that was ever finished of the original plans was it an incredible architecture.
In 1995 when Hurricane Luis passed directly over Saint Martin and massively damaging the Hotel. It never reopen and has been slowly decaying ever since.
Local legend says that the land where the hotel was built is on a cemetery of indigenous Arawaks people. inhabitants of the island – Arawaks. People believe that breach of the peace of ancestors was the reason for the failure of the project right from the start.
Cursing the hotel for ever.
