Why we Chose to Live in the Dominican Republic. Moving to Cabarete in Puerto Plata ????????

In this video we're talking about why we chose to live in and move to the Dominican Republic and specifically on the North Coast of the DR in a town called Cabarete.

We start off walking along Cabarete Beach discussing what drew us the Dominican Republic and all the various reason for choosing this country to spend the winter away from Canada.

Along the way we make stops at a great coffee shop called Vagamundo Coffee and Waffles as well as a restaurant called Front Loop.

Some of that we discuss that drew us to the Dominican Republic and Cabarete are:

- The location and ease of getting here from Canada, also proximity to the airport
- The amazing terrain including beaches, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, etc.
- A digital nomad town which means great coffee shops, good food and good internet speeds
- Good prices

Low Budget Living on the North Coast Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is quite unique, as it offers you the opportunity to live many different types of lifestyles, depending on your needs and your budget. Basically Here you can live on a budget of $2000+ a month per person AND you can live on $500 to $1000 a month based on your preferences in accommodation, food, mode of transportation, and your choices when shopping. Regardless, both options give you full access to beaches, rivers, and the tropical beauties of the country. Just take your pick on just how sophisticated you want to be with your lifestyle here. In this video, I'll show a way to live a very modest, low-budget lifestyle. Let's begin!

Do We Still Love Living in the Dominican Republic? ???????? ???? Our Life After 6 Months in the Caribbean

We're back in Cabarete (for a short visit) this week and talking about how we feel after being in the Dominican Republic for six months, do we still like it here? Do we regret staying so long?

Subscribe to Our Friends ???? @Theendlessadventure

We start the video on Cabarete Beach talking about how we're feeling and some of the things we like about being in the Dominican Republic.

Later we head to our apartment rental to give a tour of the two bedroom apartment we're staying in in Cabarete East.

Rent this apartment:

While here we also meet up with our friends @theendlessadventure. They've also been filming while visiting us here in the Dominican Republic so be sure to check out their channel as well.

Afterwards we head to a restaurant we've heard so much about, Wilson's. It's just outside of the main part of Cabarete. It took us awhile to find the road but eventually we got there, parked and took the boat to the restaurant.

We then pick up the video the next day in the nearby town of Sosua, we walk around a bit and then visit a craft brewery called North Coast Brewers.

Lastly we take Eric and Allison to the airport in Puerto Plata and say goodbye!

Retire to the Dominican Republic's friendly (and AFFORDABLE!) North Coast

Learn how you can stretch your retirement income further—and enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle—by retiring to the Dominican Republic.

Today, you’re going to learn why the Dominican Republic is a great place to live if you want to stretch your retirement nest egg. And you'll learn the steps you can take right now to figure out if it’s the place for you too.

You’re either already retired or are thinking about retiring. If you’re like a lot of retirees in the US and Canada, you’re wondering what kind of lifestyle you’ll be able to enjoy in your golden years.

The North Coast of the DR is a great place to buy a retirement home, to live either full time or part time.

-The cost of living, combined with the weather, safety and stability, make it pretty much the best place to retire comfortably and affordably.
-The price of real estate, including ocean view property, is still affordable.
-The pensionado visa for retirees is easy to get and gives you a lot of great tax benefits.

If you’re excited by what you’ve learned and are interested in learning more about retiring to the North Coast, follow these steps:

1. Check out our website at There’s a ton of information about buying a dream home and the kind of lifestyle you can enjoy.
2. Talk with one of the team at Dreaming DR. We can answer your questions and help you figure out the best way to make your dream retirement reality.
3. Visit the North Coast and take one of our real estate Tours. You can learn more about the Tour on our website.

In this video we're exploring the area of Encuentro in Cabarete, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

This area is considered up and coming and kind of trendy and is also known for surfing. The area reminds us of what Tulum, Mexico probably felt like 20 or 30 years ago.

We first check out the beach area and watch some surfers and then head up to the small strip of businesses where you'll find surf schools, surf rentals, boutiques and a couple of cafes. We go to a cafe called Pura Vida where we both have smoothie bowls and a strawberry lemonade.

Later we take a 20 minute walk along the beach and a path to the Perla Marina area of Encuentro. Here we go to a little boutique hotel that looks like it's straight out of Tulum called Natura Cabana, where we have a beer on the beach. While here we discuss our upcoming plans and also give an update about our tiny house in Nova Scotia.

Book our Tiny house:

Book directly through Blue Bayou Resort (look for Delightful Tiny Shack):

Book through Airbnb:

Lastly we head down the road to the Encuentro Food Truck Park where we have the most delicious chicken and fish tacos.

If this is the first video of mine you're watching: Hi! My name is Mills and I moved from New York to the Dominican Republic alone in July 2017! I lived in Jarabacoa for a year to teach abroad, and then spent another year in Santiago de los Caballeros. I started this channel to document my experiences living abroad and as an American, female expat overseas, and would love for you to subscribe to follow my journey! My Dominican husband, Christopher and I have just moved to Phoenix, Arizona after completing our K-1 visa journey, and are looking forward to this new adventure, and sharing it with you along the way!

I just wanted to show you how many people here whether they are tourists or locals keep enjoying life despite the world's scamdemic, and against all the odds. So take it away!
