Why Is Singapore So Rich, Grace Media Explains.

WHY IS SINGAPORE SO RICH? GRACE MEDIA EXPLAINS.

Singapore is a small country that has managed to become an Asian economic powerhouse. Despite having a small domestic market and a scarcity of natural resources, this country successfully weathered the 1997 and 2008 financial crises. Singapore's economy is now one of the most stable in the world, with no external debt, high government revenues, and a consistent positive surplus. Singapore's economy is primarily fueled by exports of electronics and machinery, financial services, tourism, and the world's busiest cargo seaport. So, I'm sure you're wondering which Singapore industries drive the economy. Manufacturing, which includes electronics, chemicals, biomedical sciences, logistics, and transport engineering, is Singapore's largest industry by far. The manufacturing sector grew by 35% in the third quarter of 2017, with clusters such as electronics and precision engineering benefiting from high demand. Closely following Singapore's manufacturing industry is its financial services industry, which has experienced consistent growth as a result of the country's pro-business environment and political stability. This country's financial services marketplace facilitates the transfer of knowledge, processes, technology, and skill between global, regional, and domestic markets, as it is home to over 200 banks and a regional hub of choice for many global financial services firms. Medical technology, aerospace engineering, clean energy, healthcare, and content development are some of the other emerging industries that are making significant contributions to Singapore's economy.

THE PERFECT CITY EXISTS | Why Singapore Is Worth The Money

I honestly did not expect to like it this much. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, there's a lot of rules. But what Singapore has in beauty, safety, innovation and ease, makes it absolutely worth it. If you are thinking of coming to this island utopia, I would highly recommend spending more than the average 2-3 days. There is a lot to see in this city and not all of it is ridiculously priced. Join me as I tour around and visit some of the well known (and not so well known) areas of the city so you can be much more prepared before your visit. Hope you enjoy the video! xx

The hostel that I stayed at in Singapore, would recommend MET Space Pod:

The travel health insurance I use - PassportCard Nomads:

*I highly recommend this travel health insurance because you don't have to pay out of pocket for your medical expenses and they have very reasonably priced long term plans. You can buy the packages for shorter trips as well, but they're especially fantastic for digital nomads and nomads who want regular health insurance when they are abroad. I am an affiliate of this company, but of course use the plans myself.

What Singapore Airlines’ First, Business, And Economy Classes Are Like | Insider Business

I flew 40 hours from NYC to Singapore and back to see which cabin on Singapore Airlines was best. The first-class suite alone is one of the most expensive plane tickets in the world and can cost $23,000 round-trip. I even met YouTuber MrBeast on that flight. After reviewing the food, service, and seats, I had one favorite that might surprise you. Insider paid a media rate for these flights.

Singapore's Changi Airport has won Skytrax's best airport award 12 times. It secured the title with its $1.3 billion Jewel and world-famous amenities.

Editor's Note: At 1:44 in the video, we say the Rain Vortex waterfall runs 24-7. This is misstated. The waterfall is turned on from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Also, at 5:29, a Singaporean dish is referred to as chicken and rice. That is incorrect. It is called Chicken Rice. Insider regrets the errors.

How Singapore became Asia’s No.1 Country | how did Singapore become rich

why is Singapore so rich
The economy of Singapore is a highly developed free-market economy with dirigiste characteristics. Singapore's economy has been previously ranked as the most open in the world, the joint 4th-least corrupt, and the most pro-business. Singapore has low tax-rates and the second-highest per-capita GDP in the world in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP). The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is headquartered in Singapore.

Alongside the business-friendly reputation for global and local privately held companies and public companies, various national state-owned enterprises play a substantial role in Singapore's economy. The sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings holds majority stakes in several of the nation's largest bellwether companies, such as Singapore Airlines, SingTel, ST Engineering and MediaCorp. With regards to foreign direct investment (FDI), the Singaporean economy is a major FDI outflow-financier in the world. In addition, throughout its history, Singapore has benefited from the large inward flows of FDI from global investors, financial institutions and multinational corporations (MNCs) due to its highly attractive investment climate along with a stable and conducive political environment throughout its modern years.

Why Single-Origin Coffee Is So Expensive | So Expensive Food | Insider Business

Single-origin specialty coffee can cost over $30 per pound, more than five times the average price of 1 pound of ground coffee in the US. “Specialty” is the term for the highest-quality coffee, and aficionados describe its taste with words more frequently used by sommeliers, like “floral” or “fruity.” Reaching this level of quality requires investment and labor at every step of production. But despite the prices a roasted bag of single-origin coffee can reach in the world’s wealthiest countries, the farmers who handpick each coffee cherry struggle to earn a profit.

We went to Kenya to find out what it takes to grow high-quality coffee, and why it’s so expensive.
