8 Things NOT To Do in Qatar
Although Qatar may seem like a rich, ultra-modern place, it is an Islamic country and therefore has its own laws, beliefs, and customs that, to foreigners, may seem a bit, well, foreign! Here are 8 Things NOT To Do in Qatar!
1. Don't visit during Ramadan
It's not forbidden to visit Qatar during Ramadan but other things are forbidden, you can't eat or drink in public places which makes sightseeing, a hungry, and thirsty experience. All shops, Supermarkets, Coffee Shops, and Restaurants are shut during the day, so you'll probably find yourself staying at the hotel, and if you're going to do that, then why go?
2. Don't forget to hydrate!
Qatar is very hot! so always carry water with you. With temperatures regularly climbing above 110 degrees you'll need to be drinking over 2 liters a day and more if you're sightseeing or shopping.
3. Don't drink local water!
This applies to every country you'll ever visit. Different countries have different microorganisms in their water, the locals are used to them, you, however, are not! Drinking local water can cause nausea, diarrhoea, and even vomiting which is something you want to avoid, especially in tropical climates.
4. Don't take photos
Avoid taking photos of local people without permission, especially women, also avoid taking pictures of the police, Government Buildings, Industrial Plants, and military camps, as this could land you in a whole world of trouble.
5. No touching!
Don,t touch or even talk to local women in public unless you yourself are a woman or you are related or have a previous relationship, not even to ask directions.
6. Get Drunk.
Alcohol is only available in hotel restaurants and private clubs, don't drink alcoholic beverages in public and if you drink privately do not do so to excess. Qatar has zero-tolerance for Drunkenness. Alcohol is a drug and public consumption and smuggling are punishable offences.
7. Don't be rude.
Don't sit with your back to other guests or showing them the soles of your feet, never use your left hand for shaking hands or eating, and don't stare!
8. Don't rush!
Hot countries tend to be more flexible about time, so don't be offended if someone's late. also don't rush conversations, always say good morning, even if you just want to know where the restroom is, and be courteous. Rushing into business is considered to be rude and will not be well received.

Doha (Arabic: الدوحة, ad-Dawḥa or ad-Dōḥa,is the capital city and most populous city of the State of Qatar. Doha has a population of 1,351,000 in a city proper with the population close to 1.5 million. The city is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf in the east of the country. It is Qatar's fastest growing city, with over 50% of the nation's population living in Doha or its surrounding suburbs, and it is also the economic centre of the country.
Doha was founded in the 1820s as an offshoot of Al Bidda. It was officially declared as the country's capital in 1971, when Qatar gained independence from being a British Protectorate. As the commercial capital of Qatar and one of the emergent financial centres in the Middle East, Doha is considered a world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. Doha accommodates Education City, an area devoted to research and education.
The city was host to the first ministerial-level meeting of the Doha Development Round of World Trade Organization negotiations. It was also selected as host city of a number of sporting events, including the 2006 Asian Games, the 2011 Pan Arab Games and most of the games at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. In December 2011, the World Petroleum Council held the 20th World Petroleum Conference in Doha. Additionally, the city hosted the 2012 UNFCCC Climate Negotiations and is set to host a large number of the venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In May 2015, Doha was officially recognized as one of the New7Wonders Cities together with Vigan, La Paz, Durban, Havana, Beirut and Kuala Lumpur.
Doha is located on the central-east portion of Qatar, bordered by the Persian Gulf on its coast. Its elevation is 10 m (33 ft). Doha is highly urbanized. Land reclamation off the coast has added 400 hectares of land and 30 km of coastline. Half of the 22 km² of surface area which Hamad International Airport was constructed on was reclaimed land.The geology of Doha is primarily composed of weathered unconformity on the top of the Eocene period Dammam Formation, forming dolomitic limestone.
The Pearl, a man-made island off the coast of DohaThe Pearl is an artificial island in Doha with a surface area of nearly 400 ha (1,000 acres) The total project has been estimated to cost $15 billion upon completion. Other islands off Doha's coast include Palm Tree Island, Shrao's Island, Al Safia Island, and Alia Island.
The population of Doha is overwhelmingly composed of expatriates, with Qatari nationals forming a minority. The largest portion of expatriates in Qatar are from South-East and South Asian countries, mainly India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, and Bangladesh with large numbers of expatriates also coming from the Levant Arab countries, North Africa, and East Asia. Doha is also home to a large number of expatriates from Europe, North America, South Africa, and Australia.
Bilingual traffic sign in DohaArabic is the official language of Qatar. English is commonly used as a second language, and a rising lingua franca, especially in commerce. As there is a large expatriate population in Doha, languages such as Malayalam, Tagalog, Spanish, French, Urdu and Hindi are widely spoken.

La naturaleza de Qatar
Los paisajes de Qatar consisten principalmente en desiertos, colinas arenosas y llanuras arenosas planas. Las acacias, las espinas de camello o el ajenjo crecen en Qatar durante la temporada de lluvias del invierno. Los lugares hermosos se crean en estas regiones desérticas por la rica vegetación y los oasis aislados. De los animales puede encontrar muchos arácnidos, serpientes, geckos, lagartos monitores, hienas, chacales y de aves: águilas o cometas. Principales ciudades de Qatar
Doha. Un importante centro turístico del país, donde se logra la principal riqueza de casi toda la población gracias a las importantes reservas de petróleo.
Lusail. Ciudad del futuro ecológica y única. La ciudad, que comenzó a construirse en 2006, donde se celebrará el primer Mundial de fútbol oficial en 2022 y, por lo tanto, atrae la atención de muchos otros países sobre esta perla árabe.
Ar-Rayyan. Un suburbio de la capital de Qatar con el ultramoderno estadio Ahmed bin Ali, donde en 2022 se disputarán los partidos de la principal Copa del Mundo. Destaca por sus parques verdaderamente paradisíacos, complejos deportivos y el zoológico de la capital.

Los visitantes del país pueden estar interesados en visitar museos de arte nacional e islámico, ir al fuerte de Al-Zubara para apreciar productos raros hechos de diversos materiales, ir de safari o organizar una cetrería. Qatar también está lleno de festivales y celebraciones vibrantes que definitivamente vale la pena echarle un vistazo. Entre ellos se encuentran los espectáculos de conciertos de verano, el campeonato mundial de golf de primavera o el festival de comida gourmet.
Lugares de interés de Qatar
Terraplén de Corniche. Es ella quien te ayudará discretamente a sentir toda la grandeza y prosperidad de Qatar. Propiedades prestigiosas en medio de las aguas del Golfo Pérsico se combinan armoniosamente con lugares cómodos para la recreación y acogedores parques verdes.
Museo de Arte Islámico. Debería ser visitado aunque solo sea porque es el museo más grande, aunque bastante joven, de todo el país y fue construido con un estilo inusual a partir de grandes bloques de piedra.
Aspire Tower. Si estás en Doha, es difícil no notarlo, especialmente de noche. Puedes encontrar esta torre en forma de antorcha y una altura de 318 m en el polideportivo Ciudad Deportiva.
Mercado de Souk Waqif. Todo el sabor de Oriente Medio se puede encontrar aquí. En el interior no solo hay un mercado con diversos souvenirs hechos a mano, sino también restaurantes y cafés de cocina tradicional.
Pueblo etnográfico Qatar. Otra forma de sentir el espíritu del país y adentrarse en su historia es visitar este pueblo, que también alberga una galería de arte, un restaurante y una tienda con perlas reales.
