Why I Love Green Tourism

The Brutally Honest Sustainable Tourism Video

It's not always easy to see the difference between being green and greenwashing... between protecting the environment and protecting the brand. Many are doing things well, but the industry is far from where it should be, and when it comes to small improvements, there's plenty of low-hanging fruit. Making real improvements is going to require a team effort, and travelers can encourage good behavior by voting with their wallets. We should reward those who are really trying to make improvements and steer clear of those who aren't. To those in the tourism industry who aren't enlightened enough to embrace the environment, perhaps they will do it because it's smart business.

When it comes to travelers' decisions, maybe we need to be better at picking a beach or ski resort or city just a little closer to home. Even choosing a destination that's 1 - 5 hours away by plane instead of 7 - 14 hours away makes an enormous difference. With current plane technology, there's really no way to have an eco-trip if we're starting it with an air travel journey that's more than a couple away.

Makuzi Beach Lodge: Eco-friendly and Sustainable Tourism in Malawi | From Garden to Table

Guests' meals are cooked with ingredients from the lodge's huge garden — or from the lake on the doorstep. With concepts like this, eco-friendly and sustainable tourism is being promoted in Africa.

Why I Love Green Tourism

Why do I talk like this? How do I find my stories? And how do I write them to get the attention of millions of people? Come learn from me on my first ever ART OF STORYTELLING class only on

Why we love travel

Here are some things you should know about Responsible Travel:

We want our customers to have a truly memorable holiday, and we want local communities and wildlife to benefit too. However, our mission has always been bigger than that. We want to make tourism a more caring industry, one that improves places rather than ruins them. We do this in three ways:

- Try to lead by example with the best practices in responsible tourism.
- Prove the win: win (better holiday for you, better for local places and people) of responsible tourism.
- Target bad practice in our industry with activism and campaigns.

You’ll find honest, genuine holiday reviews on our site from travellers who’ve experienced the trips we offer. As we’re independent of the specialist holiday companies who run the trips, we rely on our customers’ uncensored feedback to tell us if the trip lived up to its description. Over 90% of our 100,000 customers have rated their holiday 4 or 5 out of 5.

We're an activist travel company and we try to raise awareness of controversial and important issues– we are not afraid to campaign and question the tourism industry in a bid to create change for the better.

Sustainable Tourism in Peru

If there’s anything I’ve learned in 2018 it’s how to make a difference. Even if in your mind it’s small, it could mean the world to someone else. I took some time to reflect to see how we even got to where we are today. Traveling is always been something I’ve had a passion for. If you keep in touch with our podcast, I’ve been quoted multiple times explaining how travel to me is much more than a location and a photo. It’s the cultures and the people that I meet, those memories are what I take back and what I cherish forever. I’ve learned so much from traveling it’s unparalleled to anything a classroom can teach me. Peru just so happened to be one of those locations that touched my heart and allowed me to share the stories of the people I met. We then took those stories and shared them with you and that’s why you’re here.

This last year we put food on the tables of many families. Our travelers shared some of those meals, they gave back to the communities in person. They gave school supplies to over 70 children and those same kids got a Christmas gift this year. You’ll see people post about peoples restored faith in humanity but time and time again see so much good and grace from our travelers it’s unbelievable what we’ve accomplished because of their hearts. What started out as just an idea has evolved into a passionate community built on the foundation of sustainable tourism, passion, and love. None of it was possible without our team and our travelers.

So thank you Cachi Family! Thank you so much for your support, your love, your compassion, and your belief in a new way to travel. On behalf of everyone at Cachi Life, I thank you. This video above is for you.
