Cost of Utilities in BELIZE
How much is it to live in Belize. We are often asked what is the cost of utilities in Belize and on Ambergris Caye. Unlike other Caribbean Islands, Ambergris Caye gets its power from subterranean lines from Mexico. This makes the cost of electricity much less than other island destinations.
The water on Ambergris Caye comes from BWS who uses desalinization and reverse osmosis. You will also be happy to know that if you are on the BWS water system, you are able to drink the tap water. Though be cautious, cause not all properties and resorts on Ambergris Caye have municipal water.
Atlanta: 11.9 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh)
New York: 24.9 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh)
Los Angeles: 27.41 c/Kwh
San Pedro: 22 c/kWh
Houston: 5.7 cents per KwH

Living on Caye Caulker, Belize
Living on Caye Caulker
Caye Caulker is the smaller of the two islands of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. There are no cars on Caye Caulker, so you can walk or bike to the Split, your room, apartment or the sea.
Fun things to do, canoe out for some snorkeling or stay in and swim at the Split. Go Slow is the island motto.
This place is a gem. Friendly people, no stress, and if you can live without good wifi connection, you will love it.
The crime that you may hear about is mostly in Belize City.
Get to know the locals on Caye Caulker and you'll hear all the latest news of the island.
I recommend Juno the fish whisperer, he takes people out on his handmade sailboat, best snorkeling ever! And he is an absolute amazing person having been born on the island and knows all. Seriously.
He is not the person on the palm fringed boat in the video at the end.
