The Reality of Life in Russia 2023 (bureaucratic nightmare)
This is our life in Russia in late 2022 / 2023. Traveling to Russia as a westerner has always been difficult, a bureaucratic nightmare, but this year is the first time Matt and I have really had any issues. We arrived in my hometown of Kemerovo, Siberia, after crossing in to Russia at Kaliningrad and flying to Novosibirsk. Once here and staying with my family, we went to register with the local authorities, but everything turned out to be a little complicated to say the least. This is a week in our lives here staying in Siberia as we hang out with my family and prepare for New years eve (the biggest celebration of the year in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and many other former Soviet countries). Welcome to a very cold, wintery Siberia.

Life in the Coldest place on earth, the region of Yakutia (Republic of Sakha), Siberia, Russia, & the Worlds coldest city, Yakutsk. We traveled to Yakutsk in the middle of winter to find out how people here survive in the toughest climate in the world. Little did we know, we would manage to time it so perfect that we would actually arrive during the coldest day in the last 20 years (-63'C / '81.5'F).
The lowest air temperature ever recorded in this region is -96°F (-71°C). The coldest town is Oymyakon, which is also in Yakutia, Siberia.
Life up here in the coldest city and region on planet earth is tough, and winter is long, however, people have lived here for centuries. The Yakut (Sakha) people have called this region home for generations and their unique culture & attitude to life has helped them thrive here in cold tundra of Yakutia, Siberia.

MY STORY - I Quit My Job To Travel
NOTE: This is my story. Please do not take this post as a sign to quit your job, this needs to be carefully planned and executed with a smart decision after each other. If you are planning to do the same, make sure you are emotionally and financially in a right place with secure backup plans.
I QUIT MY JOB To Travel ✈️
September 2021 - I did quit my well-paid and secure corporate job to do what I love the most - to travel. Definitely one of the scariest decisions I had to make during my 28 years of life. It was scary in many ways - financially, physically, and emotionally. As much as my work was promising and secure I did not want to disappear in 9 to 5 circles. I did not want to live and die in the same place even tho I love Prague with my whole heart. And most importantly I did not want to experience the world in 2 weeks vacations in a year by the seaside.
October 2021 - After my notice period, I was fully free to do whatever I want with my time, so that is when I started my trip to the Middle East. That is when I understood there are would not never be the right time. It is just when you feel the most scared that is when you do the jump. There is never a right moment, it is all about creating the moment and manifesting the life you desire.
January 2022 - today I am able to create content full time and share my experiences with millions of viewers on 5 different platforms. Backpacking with 15kg in the countries where my weak passport allows me. Actually what I do as a content creator does not feel like a job, and also I feel like the energy I put out is all for me and for my future rather than being part of the big machine and selling your time for money.
Quitting a job sounds so cliche and cool - but lots of long-term planning and effort come with it. After all, this was the end goal of my 2-year plan. It is really scary to take the jump when you are at the edge of the cliff but staying the same for the rest of your life is scarier.
Also traveling is not easy - full-time traveling is not just having fun and seeing new places every day. As much as it sounds fun, it also comes with so many decisions every day because you do not have a scheduled life. Traveling also means being away from friends and loved ones. Traveling also means sleeping in hostels with snoring people. Traveling also means being lonely and looking for a cozy corner to feel like home.
After all, this was my decision to act on my dreams and do not waste my youth years for the right time…

About Us!
If you had told me a year ago that we were going to sell all of our stuff to start backpacking the world, I would have called you a liar. Decisions like the one we made start with an inflection point. A point where you realize that life can never be the same anymore. After a challenging, and painful year in 2017, we decided we needed to go out and live the life we wanted to live, instead of watching it on someone else’s YouTube Channel. We had given everything we had, physically and emotionally, for other’s dreams and were ready to work that hard for ourselves. From rock bottom, Chase for Adventure was born.
The Chase Begins
We moved in with our parents, sold everything we own including our cars, and paid off $70,000 worth of debt. We worked 70hrs/week over the last year trying to save up $15,000 to make our dreams come true. Now, we are travel journalists who showcase the beauty in different cultures and inspire others to chase their dreams through our YouTube Channel and website Chase for Adventure. We want to show others that if they want something bad enough, they’ll figure out how to get it; show people who are struggling that they can make the light at the end of their tunnel. Chase for Adventure is more than just a travel vlog and blog; it’s the chronicles of what it’s like to have a dream and do whatever it takes to attain it.
