13 Things You May Not Like About Panama

When you read offshore publications about Panama, you’d think the whole country is a “Paradise,” and much of Panama really is a paradise! The distant photos of downtown Panama City look like any first-world metropolis. Watch this video to learn 13 things you won’t read about in the sugar-coated publications about moving to Panama. Despite these 13 things, we still think the positives of living in Panama far outweigh the negatives.

Most of the 13 of these things can easily be overcome with careful research and planning, which we provide in our Online Panama Relocation Guide. Good information is key to your success in relocating to Panama.

Since 2010, we've been helping people find their dream life in Panama. We've helped 1000s of people relocate to Panama and can help you too.

Do Panama Expats Need an E Cedula?

If you have questions about cedulas or any other topic concerning Panama- be it expat or tourist- join me on the I Go Panama facebook group!

Cedulas or Ecedulas- there's a lot of confusion about them. Are they are requirement for your Panamanian residency? Do you have to have one to move/live here? What are the benefits of one? We'll discuss all of that in today's video!

UPDATE: A lot of people have been telling me that their e-cedulas expire in 10 years, not 15. Mine is definitely 15. I got mine in August 2020. Brian got his in June 2020 and he has 15 years as well. Not sure why some people are getting 10 years and some are getting 15. TIP= This Is Panama. ????

UPDATE: Ooops!! I gave you the wrong price. I paid Kraemer Law $200, but then I gave them an additional $100 to pay for the process at the Tribunal. So the total was $300, not $200.

Kraemer Law helped us get our cedula with ease!

Black Expats in Panama, Linda Bronson & Ruth Rivera, El Proyecto Fenix. Doing Good Works in Panama

#blackexpatsinpanama #elproyectofenix #panamarelocationtours

We LOVE Black Expats who come to Panama bearing gifts. I always say, Panama is EXTRARODINARILY generous and we (as Expats) should come with a giving heart as well.

Meet Black Expats, Linda Bronson and Ruth Rivera, the Founders of El Proyecto Fenix. El Proyecto Fenix is a Non-profit organization which endeavors to reach families in need of assistance to empower them to raise their standard of living through gathered support from donors and cooperative economics seeding their initial entry into El Proyecto Fenix.

LINDA BRONSON, native to the United States, after a life of California living working as a Business and Systems Analyst for over 30 years and ministry since 1986, now retired in Central America.  She witnessed first- hand levels of poverty that troubled her in spirit.   In September, 2020, she was introduced to a private community that utilized the cooperative economics that sparked a vision of empowerment for the communities in her surrounding neighborhoods.

Linda along with her co-founder Ruth Rivera, believe the mission, goals, and processes of El Proyecto Fenix  will bring these impoverished communities into the 21st century with housing, electricity and indoor plumbing flowing.

RUTH RIVERA, was born in Puerto Rico lived in the United States from six years of age. She retired in 2001, from the Seattle Times.   Relocating to Houston in 2006, she retired a second time from Star Furniture in 2015.  Within days she moved to Panama, never looking back!

Ruth's compassionate desire to reach  people less fortunate, ignited her zeal and tireless efforts in her involvement with El Proyecto Fenix.   She truly believes this project will transform many lives right here in Panama.

There is an upcoming Fundraiser Norwegian Cruise event in February 2022 (see flyer at end of video).

There Are Too Many Foreigners In Medellin | Real Talk Ep. 29

We show you the real Medellin from an Expat perspective!
???? Sneak Peek Services ????

Are there too many tourists/foreigners in Medellin? Is it true that Medellin is not local anymore?

There are surely coming a lot more foreigners to Medellin compared to a few years ago. But that doesn't automatically make it super touristy or overrunned by them. In fact, Medellin is still really local but does surely change some things for the tourist in order to make Medellin an attractive city to visit.

What does that exactly mean in numbers?
Medellin (the whole Aburra valley) has 4 Mio. Locals and just 0.5 Mio. Foreigners visiting per year.
Compared to New York with 65 Mio. tourists or even Panama with 3 Mio. tourist AND locals, I would say it isn't as bad as people like to portray it.

So again, there are surely seasons when there are more tourists in the city of Medellin but the number is still pretty low compared to other countries. On top of that, we have to mention, that it might seem like there are a lot of foreigners in Medellin but actually those are just in Poblado. El Poblado is the preferred place to stay for most tourist and obviously also the reason why other tourists see a lot of other tourists.

As soon as you leave Poblado and especially the area around Parque Lleras you will notice the change and the lack of tourists and foreigners in general.

So again, Medellin is not overrunned by tourists, the Poblado area around Parque Lleras is.

Hope the video helps to debunk this specific myth once and for all.

Don't hesitate to contact us with any Expat questions you might have. No matter if you've got questions about Medellin, Bogota, Santa Marta or Colombia in general. We would love to support you on your journey.

The Panama Expat Fixer: Estefany Morales Interview!

If you have been on any of the Panama expat groups, you have seen the name Estefany Morales! She has become the go to person for expats who want to purchase vehicles with ZERO HASSLE in Panama! We just purchased another vehicle and used Estefany's services and I could not be happier with the transaction and the wonderful customer service Estefany provided. We found the car, and then she went to work! She went with her own independent mechanic to check out the car, reported back to me, negociated the price, saved me some money, wrote up the contract, picked up the vehicle, delivered it to my friend's house in Panama City so I could pick it up in a few days, got the title transferred, and got me the BEST insurance quote (we only use the top coverage, and her prices are awesome!). In fact, I just moved my truck insurance over to her and saved over $200 a year for the same coverage!! All I had to do was get off the plane from Bocas, uber to my friend's house, and pick up my new car! So easy! And she's just a pleasure to deal with- going above and beyond to make sure I understood everything that was being done and taking care of a minor key issue after I picked up the car. Never any excuses from her- she just FIXED it! That's why I've named her the Panama Expat Fixer!

In this interview, we'll get to know how Estefany got started in the expat fixer business, what her background is that makes her highly qualified for handling all of your vehicle needs, and some tips to help you navigate car buying in Panama!
