10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Moving to Ecuador

Today, I am sharing 10 things I wish I had known before moving to Ecuador, Quito, to be specific! We are definitely in the rainy season here, so many of my points are very seasonal/weather specific. It might also be because I am literally cold while writing this post. Although the things I mentioned have made me think twice about my life here in Ecuador, my thoughts have only made me more resilient and excited to continue my journey here. I cannot wait to explore this beautiful place more as things warm up over the coming months. What topics would you like me to cover in a future video?

Some of Our Favorite Travel Videos We Think Other Travelers Would Love

Our Travel Gear:
Microsoft Surface, Travel Laptop: We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

Camera Sony Alpha Series: We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

Western Dynamics 4 TB external hard drive. This let's you save your pictures and videos from your SD cards while you travel without having to use a computer.

Manfrotto Tripods: We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Our Packs/Luggage: Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

What is Life Like As An American Foreigner Living In Ecuador During A Pandemic?

In today's video, we are chatting about what life is currently like as an American foreigner living in Ecuador during a pandemic. My perspective as a black expat living abroad is unique because I may not have the whole story of what things are like for everyone in the country or even Quito, for that matter. But I am able to share what things are like from my own perspective, which may be interesting and helpful for other foreigners looking to travel or move to Ecuador during this time. I hope you enjoy this video and if you have any questions, please let me know!

// ABOUT THE STATUS GO
The Status Go is a vlog channel and online blog (thestatusgo.blog) that serves as a visual representation of Monica's bucket list, a virtual dream board. As a dedicated diary to the internet of her journey to see the world, she is set to live a remarkable life even with an invisible disability, Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Together with Matt, her lovely boyfriend, they explore the world and live out their big, globetrotting dreams. Holding his hand, she conquers challenges from having a debilitating disease as a digital nomad with MS. Their ultimate objective is to set the status quo to GO.

By documenting how to travel freely with a disability and highlighting resources to facilitate physical and emotional challenges from MS, The Status Go is filling in the current shortage of travel-related content related to Multiple Sclerosis on the web. As a digital nomad with a chronic illness, Monica Lynne also delivers strategies to accomplish a similar lifestyle as an entrepreneur living abroad around the world while also safely nursing a condition. Featuring a content series per country, The Status Go is an online travel blog providing travel-based content from a solution-oriented perspective to challenging symptoms from MS and other demanding ambitions.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) makes it challenging to keep my balance, walk a trail, hike the mountains, swim in waterfalls, and speak my mind. But why let that stop me? -- Monica Lynne

Traveling is embedded into our relationship as we met on a Spring Break cruise in 2016. Since then, we haven't stopped traveling together in the United States and abroad. We left New York in July 2019 to travel the world and we took work with us. We have made it our mission to slow travel for 16 months throughout South America and Asia.

Traveling Atlas was created to capture our moments of taking risk, building connections, and seeing the world. We will be staying in each country we visit for about a month in order to experience cultures to our maximum capacity and to inspire others that they can do the same. We are Brandon and Erin, follow the journey and stay tuned.
