WELCOME TO BAGHDAD, IRAQ!!! OMGGG I am so excited to share this video with you!! As someone who is going to every country (currently 194/197) -- Baghdad has been high on my list ever since I fell in love with Middle Eastern culture & hospitality back in 2015... It's hard to explain in words how happy I am here, especially because I have this unique opportunity to share REAL LIFE things happening on these streets. Road tripping across Iraq (proper) is a wild experience and I do not recommend any tourist to do it. It can get pretty intense! My buddy Alvaro (IG: @wanderreds) and I were stopped at over 30 police checkpoints - some easy, others hard — and by the end of the journey, my brain was fried … But we made it in one piece to the Southern city of Basra, and I documented the entire experience for you to see.

The Middle East is my absolute favorite region in the world for many reasons, but none more than the hospitality. I actually never knew that people could be so friendly until I ventured off into the mountains of Afghanistan, the valleys of Yemen, the villages of Syria and the small boutique shops of Iran.
All I can say is that after spending 4+ months of my life traveling throughout the region, I can say that the Middle East is much safer and more beautiful than what the media makes it out to be!

Welcome back to the 41st episode of my $10 Series! Today I take you around the bustling city of Cairo, Egypt to see how far I can stretch $ 10 USD (PS: I got 10 items!).
I actually went to Cairo the first time in 2015 - way back when I was a budget backpacker and travel blogger (before I owned a video camera). I was young and naïve and to be honest, I didn't have a great time here.
But now, I'm back with fresh eyes and new perspectives, and let's just say that I'm enjoying Cairo about 10X as much as I did 5 years ago. It's also a very special time to visit because there are (literally) ZERO TOURISTS HERE, so I had the Pyramids of Giza all to myself. As long as you take precautions (wear a mask, avoid physical contact, wash hands frequently), then traveling is possible right now amid this new normal.

This was my second time traveling to one of my favorite areas of the world, Iraqi Kurdistan! During my first trip it was amazing to be able to see off the beaten path places like Iraq that are so rich with culture but it was also really lonely. I can now say that I’ve made about 90% of my friendships through social media, one of my best online friends being Drew Binsky. Even though we had never met in person, Drew and I bonded over our love of adventure and our shared goal of traveling to every country. Drew only has 6 countries left and even though the 2020 lockdown has slowed him down, he hasn’t let that stop him sharing more inspiring stories from around the world. Drew and I were coincidentally both in Turkey before we came up with the spontaneously to travel together, for the first time, back to Iraq.
In this video we hit the old city streets of Erbil to try as much street food as possible. After trying everything from kebabs to sour ice cream, we discovered the full range of sweet to sour flavors here in Iraq.

In this epic adventure, I take you on the bustling streets of Caracas and through the beautiful beach towns of Morrocoy to see how many things I could purchase with $10 USD, which at the time I made this video, was 14.7 MILLION Venezuelan Bolivares... Right now, $10 USD is equal to 22 million Bolivares, it's absolutely crazy.
Despite Venezuela's economic crisis and massive hyperinflation, the cost of everyday items is getting more expensive, which makes it even harder for the local people to afford basic things like bread and water. It's really sad, and I hope the situation gets better because Venezuelans are some of the warmest and most hospitable people I've ever met. More to come soon from Venezuela!

After wandering around Baghdad for a few days, the real Iraqi adventure has just began... My buddy Alvaro and I road tripped to the outskirts of Babylon - the world's first city dating back to 19th Century BC -- and we stumbled upon a MASSIVE palace that overlooks the ancient ruins.
We parked our car, and wandered inside. It was Saddam Hussein's former palace, which is now totally abandoned. It was so scary to knock down doors and crawl through shattered glass and broken bottles, but it was an experience I'll never forget. You have to see it to believe it!
Stay tuned for next Sunday's video, where I take you on a journey across ancient Babylon! Iraq is as good as it gets ????????

I decided to make a sequel about his life because he is a such a good guy and has so many inspiring viewpoints and perspectives.
This story is all about his beard -- or should I say, his terrorist beard! Baderkhan knows the risks of traveling while having this prominent beard, along with his Iraqi passport, and as a result, he often gets interrogated by immigration officers.

In my latest $10 episode (45th episode overall) I take you on the bustling streets of Moshi, Tanzania - a small, yet energetic town on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. I teamed up with my friend and local celebrity named Nick Reynolds (AKA Bongozozo), and together we had a blast hitting the markets and also hitting the links (this is the first time that I've been able to purchase a full 18 holes of golf for under $10!).

The World's Most Confusing Currency (IRAN)

One of my favorite things to do whenever I enter a new country (like Iran) is analyze their currency situation, exchange rate, and how these things affect their economy.
I’ve handled many inflated currencies over the past few years -- such as the Indonesian RUPIAH and Vietnamese DONG — but here in Iran, the RIAL gets a lot more confusing than inflation.
Iran has 2 different systems to count their money. The first is RIALS (the official Iranian currency), and the second is TUMAN (which is like the Rial, without the last zero). As a traveler, you don’t know which price is listed unless you ask. $1 USD = 50,000 Rials and that same $1 dollar = 5,000 Tuman. Sound confusing? ... It is!
Moreover, the only way to get money in Iran as a tourist is by bringing lots of cash (USD or Euros is preferred) and then exchanging it for Iranian Rials when you arrive. The reason is that there are no ATMs in Iran that cater to foreign banks.
If you are as confused reading this as I am typing it out, then this video will explain the confusing world of the Iranian Rial a little better.
