I Was So Shaken Up! Carnival Mishap in Quito, Ecuador
We accidentally attended Carnival in Quito, Ecuador. This started out with a lot of excitement and interest, but after hearing a story about a lady getting her phone stolen and 2 other women being dragged around in a park, we had our own bad experience where someone used the traditional ways of celebration like the powder and spray to divert our attention and try to steal from us. A bit scary, but we still love this city and country and recommend visiting.

Personally, I do.
It was my first ever trip to the US.
I was TERRIFIED.
Because I knew a little bit of English back then (I am native Spanish speaker btw ????)
But one thing is to LEARN a new language.
And another thing is to COMMUNICATE with a complete stranger.
After I arrived…
I tried my best to speak fluently.
And for some reason the words did not come out.
It was very HARD.
But after a few days…
I was getting better and better.
Then, I realized something.
You don't learn something just by reading books or listening to 101 podcasts.
You learn by DOING THE DAMN THING.
By practicing.
And SUCKING at the beginning.
Don't let a small obstacle keep you back from your goal.

GUAYAQUIL | ECUADOR - BEST things to do in 12hrs (seafood & stairs)
Today, we're in Guayaquil, the capital and main port city of Ecuador. This city isn't usually on most people's bucket list, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing to do here!
In this video, we visit the Malecon 2000, a lively boardwalk on the bank of the Guayas River. This area sometimes hosts carnivals & festivals, and also has a lot of food stands and restaurants.
We made a quick stop at Mercado del Rio for lunch and ordered ourselves a SEAFOOD FEAST in the form of a giant ceviche. One of the MUST TRY foods in Guayaquil is the crab, and it did not disappoint with its fresh stringy texture, and sweet & tender meat. Pricing was not the cheapest, but what can you expect from a big tourist area.
Afterwards, we visited the nearby Barrio las Peñas, the oldest neighborhood in Guayaquil that has been transformed into a quaint little suburb. This borough is located on a hill overlooking the Guayas River and has an amazing view of the city - IF you can conquer the 444 steps to the top. There is also a pretty lighthouse and church.
SAFETY is always an important consideration, and Guayaquil is known to be a pretty dangerous city. Be sure to take care of your belongings and maintain your own safety as you explore this beautiful city.
