Swanage Railway Diesel Galas, 2008 to 2011.

SD footage of a few Swanage Railway Diesel Galas, filmed between 2008 and 2011. As an added bonus, we begin with Vintage Trains' 'Purbeck & Weymouth Explorer' charter arriving at Wareham behind 47 773 on 10th May 2008; the date of my first visit to a diesel gala at the line.

The Downs Light Railway, Malvern, Open Day 1st May 2017

A rare open day at this private 9 1/2 Gauge line at a school at Colwall in Herefordshire, near Malvern. Built in 1925 and maintained by the pupils, it bills itself as the oldest private miniature railway in the country. It was restored from dereliction in the 1970's, by pupils and former pupils, and also by noted narrow gauge railway author James Boyd who lived within walking distance of it. He wrote a book about the railway called 'Don't Stand Up in the Tunnel'.

Why didn't I go to a school with a miniature railway round the cricket pitch? Filmed and produced by Dave Waldren.

Stratford Park Miniature Railway

The Stratford Park Miniature Railway is located on the A46 road to Painswick north of Stroud in Gloucestershire and is the home of the Stroud Society of Model Engineers. The line runs a circuit of 850 feet and is of mixed gauge 3 ½” & 5” The Aluminium rail and wood sleepers laid on a firm concrete base make a very smooth and stable ride. Steaming around in an anti-clockwise direction the line begins with a long straight climb in a cutting up to the tunnel which reminded me very much of the approach to Devonshire Tunnel on the S&DJR out of Bath that also curves to the left inside. The line continues to climb a gradient of 1 in 100 to the summit. It’s then all downhill through very picturesque woodland as the line winds its way to the bottom of the incline before completing the circuit over another bridge to bring the line back to the points that trail back into the steaming bays. It was a delight to run on this railway and my thanks go to Bill Phillips and members of the SSME who made my visit so enjoyable. The line has two more public running days this year – Sundays 25th September and 30th October, 2pm - 4.30 pm and is well worth a visit.

Mortocombe Railway at the Chilton Garden Centre August 2014

Not the best railway we have been too but still very interesting in that it has 10 1/4 and 7 1/4 gauges on it's track.
It seems a shame not more passengers were using the trains, tucked away at the back of the garden centre,no direction signs to show the way to the station,we had to ask where it was.
Many thanks to the members of the railway.

Folkestone Model Rail Show, October 2021

Thumbnail edited by RedEagle Ten, check out his channel here

While most people went to the big show in Milton Keynes, I decided to go down to the Folkestone Model Show as it was a tradition that I'd go with my grandad, dad and cousin. Plus, Folkestone is a lot closer and cheaper. So, that said, this video features just a few of the many layouts that were at the show.
Featured layouts are, Two Bridges, Hawkesdown, Dépôt d'eu, Towcester, Lambourn, Knot Littlefield and finally Strood Dock.

Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed the video please like and subscribe.

Crich Tramway Village Electric 50

I visited the Crich Tramway Village on 13th September for their Electric 50 event. No less than 15 Trams were operating all day with an incredible 25 Trams cavalcade promised, in fact it was 27.
A fantastic event that must have been a nightmare to plan, but all your hard work was very much appreciated by all who attended the event over the weekend.
Thank you to all the Tramway volunteers for making this a truly memorable event. Here's to the next 50 years.
