From the famous Gros Morne National Park in Western Newfoundland, and the colourful and charming Bonavista Peninsula in Eastern Newfoundland to the small and lesser visited Fogo Island and Change Islands in Central Newfoundland and the vibrant capital of St John’s, this is a journey through the most beautiful parts of Newfoundland captured on our recent visit.

Canada Road Trip: Best Things To Do In Newfoundland

NEWFOUNDLAND IS AWESOME! In this video, we showcase the BEST things to do in Newfoundland, including St. John's, Gros Morne National Park, Trinity, Twillingate, and more!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Newfoundland!

Newfoundland was our first province during the Road to 150, our 150-day road trip across Canada. We experienced icebergs, fjords, walking on the Earth's mantle, humpback whales, kitchen parties, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. But most of all, we fell in love with the people, which is a big part of what makes Newfoundland such a special place.

Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multimedia road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?

We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim was to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

Western Brook Pond Fjord, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland and Labrador

One of the most difficult decisions you'll have when you reach Western Brook Pond is how you wish to experience it. Your options begin with a 40-minute walk to the dock, where you can step on board a tour boat for a two-hour trip through the fjord with BonTours. Or, for the more advanced adventurer, you take a day hike up the eastern edge of the gulch for a once-in-a-lifetime photo op. One thing is for certain, once you've experienced Western Brook Pond, you won't soon forget it.

Expedition Newfoundland | FULL MOVIE | Travel Documentary

Join us on our overland journey to Canada's Newfoundland Island. We spend 3 weeks July 2023 camping and traveling to some of the most beautiful places around the country. We spent 6 months mapping and planning for this trip. Packing in as much adventure as we can.

Our journey starts with a 1860 mile trek just to get to Newfoundland Canada. But first a border crossing into New Brunswick via the Deer island ferry. Our first night in Canada lands us at the Bay of Fundy. Next into Nova Scotia and our first epic Lobster Roll. Arriving in Sydney NS port to get on a 8 hr Atlantic Ferry going to Newfoundland.

Once in Newfoundland our real overland expedition can begin. We make our way up the west coast exploring the Long Island peninsula and small lobster villages. Next the Viking Trail, Great Northern Peninsula along beautiful shores, collapsed sea caves and barren landscapes. We camp at the furthest north Point Normans Cape. Next Lance Aux Meadows a viking village. Then to St. Anthony. Ending the day in Englee. A coastal fishing town that we camp above on a mountain lake.

Then we head off of the northern peninsula down to the abandoned town Round Harbor with our first humpback whale visitor. Landing on the cliffs overlooking the North Atlantic in the town of LaScie. We spend the afternoon watching humpback whales play in the bay. Followed by a visit to iconic Twillingate where a sickness may cut our trip short.

Next Newfoundlands largest offshore island, Fogo Island. After the ferry our first stop is the small town of Fogo. We visit an odd location The Fogo Island Inn. A remote 5 star hotel. We return to Fogo to camp at the Brimstone Head Park. Leaving Fogo we visit Cape Freels Beach. Then we head down to the beautiful island chain town of Newtown. We end our day on the island of Greensport with an afternoon of crazy weather. Our next day takes us through Terra Nova National Park where we find Mountain View’s, an extremely useful visitor center, showers and an aquatic touch tank. Our path then leads around the north rim of the Bonaviata peninsula. We check out the Cape Bonivista Lighthouse and Puffin Colony. Before heading to the Community Pasture full of wild roaming horses and the perfect camp spot. Ending the day with two whales slapping the water with fins and tails for hours just off shore.

Exploring Elliston we find more Puffin and whale! Next we head to Trinity to one of the oldest blacksmith forges around! A few hr drive takes us to Dildo and a bay side camp spot. The next destination is the islands largest city, Saint Johns. Where we see Signal Hill, Cabot Tower and Jelly Bean Row. Then we become true Newfoundlanders by getting Screeched In at Trapper Johns. We end the day camped on a 600 foot high cliff north of St. John’s.

The next day takes us as far East as you can go on the continent to Cape Spear. Then we wind our way down the coast through Ferryland and around to the South Avalon-Burin Oceanic Barrens. Where we end up at Cape Race Lighthouse. We do some trail riding before settling in a small cove full of seals. Our last day on the island takes us to Cape Pine (the furthest south you can drive) and then up to Castle Hill Fort before we Jump on our ferry in Argentia (MV Atlantic Vision) to head back home through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Gros Morne National Park - Newfoundland

Located on the west coast of Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. For the visitor, this translates into exposed earth crust, dramatic fjords, alpine plateaus, waterfalls, crystal lakes and sheer cliffs. Every summer, scores of hikers, campers, bikers and kayakers enjoy this natural wonderland. Highlights include boating up the Western Pond Brook, and hiking along the moonscape of the Tablelands.

Beside some hiking and a boat tour on the Western Brook Pond at the Gros Morne National Park I went on a whale and iceberg expedition at Battle Harbour, visited vikings in L'anse aux Meadows and went kayaking in Steady Brook.

All activities and things to do in Newfoundland and Labrador covered here are easy to access by car making it a perfect road trip where you spend each night at a different spot.

Welcome to Western Newfoundland

Join us for a road trip through beautiful Western Newfoundland. This wild and rugged land boasts abundant breathing room and a unique geological history going back 1.25 billion years, as well as a relatively young human history - a mere 4,500 years old - that is still being uncovered today. With ancient mountains, fjords, and thousands of miles of coastline, the region is more like a small country.

WELCOME TO GLOVERTOWN, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR, CANADA

The Town of Glovertown is a community of approximately 2200 residents, in East Central Newfoundland. It is situated within a five minute’s drive from the Trans-Canada Highway twelve minutes from the headquarters of Terra Nova National Park and forty minutes from the Town of Gander to the west. The Town is a vibrant community and acts as a service centre for the Eastport Peninsula, Terra Nova National Park and the smaller local communities of Charlottetown and Terra Nova.

Glovertown is a community that is edging towards significant growth. Our community is well-suited to new and growing families with a safe, healthy environment. A number of services are available for senior living, with a strong community tradition of active service groups. A competitive market provides opportunities for new home builders to live in a rural setting or for retirees to build a dream home in a beautiful community. A strong education system and ample recreation opportunities promote a healthy lifestyle for youth.

Glovertown is a community that lives and works both locally and regionally. We are a rural community, but with urban connections and amenities. A strong sense of community pride is evident in the work of local volunteers, whether they are preserving local heritage and culture, providing local sport programs, or performing important duties such as firefighting or search and rescue.
