Bishkek:
Bishkek, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic). Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chuy Region. The province surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the province, but rather a province-level unit of Kyrgyzstan.
In 1991 the Kyrgyz parliament changed the capital's name to Bishkek.Bishkek is situated at an altitude of about 800 meters (2,600 ft), just off the northern fringe of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, an extension of the Tian Shan mountain range. These mountains rise to a height of 4,855 meters (15,928 ft) and provide a backdrop to the city. North of the city, a fertile and gently undulating steppe extends far north into neighboring Kazakhstan. The Chui River drains most of the area. Bishkek is connected to the Turkestan-Siberia Railway by a spur line.
Bishkek is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings combined with numerous Soviet-style apartment blocks surrounding interior courtyards. There are also thousands of smaller privately built houses, mostly outside the city centre. Streets follow a grid pattern, with most flanked on both sides by narrow irrigation channels, watering innumerable trees to provide shade in the hot summers.
State Historical Museum, located in Ala-Too Square, the main city square.
State Museum of Applied Arts, containing examples of traditional Kyrgyz handicrafts
Frunze House Museum
Statue of Ivan Panfilov in the park near the White House.
An equestrian statue of Mikhail Frunze stands in a large park (Boulevard Erkindik) across from the train station.
The train station was built in 1946 by German prisoners of war and has survived since then without further renovation or repairs; most of those who built it perished and were buried in unmarked pits near the station.
The main government building, the White House, is a huge, seven story marble block and the former headquarters of the Communist Party of the Kirghiz SSR
At Ala-Too Square there is an independence monument where the changing of the guards may be watched.Osh bazaar, west of the city centre, is a large, picturesque produce market.

Kyrgyzstan in a week

This video tells the story of the 7-day trip we took through northeast Kyrgyzstan.

When I told my friends that I had planned a trip to Kyrgyzstan, the most common answer was Kyrgyz what?
And I repeated Kyrgyzstan!

Our travel plan was based on the experience of our dear guide and friend, Aman from the company Kyrgyz Riders, who I strongly advise if you want to travel to this country.

KYRGYZ RIDERS Contacts:

Phone: +996 558 033 880

Located in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the northwest and north, by China to the east and south, and by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the south and west. Most of Kyrgyzstan's borders run along mountain crests. Formerly a constituent republic of the U.S.S.R., Kyrgyzstan declared its independence on August 31, 1991. The capital is Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan is an amazing, uncommon travel destination. With an incredible display of rivers, waterfalls, and nearly 2,000 lakes, its beautiful mountainous landscape has provided the setting for over 2,000 years of history. We spent 10 days in Kyrgyzstan and explored many of its most famous places.

So our travel plan was to explore the following places in 7 days: Jalgyz-Karagay pass, Song-Kol lake, Tash-Rabat, Chatyr-Kol Lake, Kel-Suu lake, KochKor Village, Eagle Hunting Experience, The Skazka Canyon, Jetty-Oguz red mountains, Karakol village, and Grigorievka gorge.

Southern Kazakhstan Overland by train to Bishkek Part 1

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛
On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
To & From Kyrgyzstan
Official Kazakh–Kyrgyz border crossings are largely hassle free, but the ‘green border’ – trails through the mountains, without border posts – has been closed for several years.
From Almaty's Sayran bus station, there are plenty of minibuses (1500T, three to four hours, hourly 6am to 11pm) and shared taxis (3500T) to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, crossing the border at Korday. Minibuses and shared taxis also run from Taraz to Bishkek, and there are also buses from Shymkent and Turkestan to Bishkek – all crossing the border at Chaldybar.
From May to October, the scenic and laid-back Karkara valley border crossing offers an alternate route between Almaty and Issyk-Köl. No public transport makes this crossing but a taxi from Almaty/Kegen to the border should cost around 8000/5000T while onward transit from the border to Karakol is around 3500 som (around $51). Taxis rarely wait at this little-used border, so it's best to make transport arrangements in advance.

Bishkek: Exploring the Attractions, Culture, and Cuisine of Kyrgyzstan's Capital

Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan, a landlocked country in Central Asia. Bishkek is also the gateway to the Tien Shan, a majestic mountain range that stretches across several countries and offers stunning scenery and adventure opportunities.

In this travel documentary, we will explore Bishkek's attractions, culture, cuisine, history, and events. We will discover how Bishkek has evolved from a fortress of the Khanate of Kokand in the 19th century, to a Russian settlement named Pishpek, to a Soviet city renamed Frunze, to a modern and independent metropolis that embraces its Kyrgyz identity.

We will start our journey at the Ala-Too Square, the heart of Bishkek. Here we will see a triumphant statue of Manas, the legendary hero of Kyrgyz epic poetry. We will also witness the changing of the guard ceremony at the flagpole and visit the State Historical Museum, which displays exhibits on Kyrgyz history and culture.

We will then head to the Osh Bazaar, one of the largest and most colorful markets in Central Asia. Here we will shop for traditional Kyrgyz clothes, such as white felt hats and embroidered robes. We will also taste some of the local delicacies, such as beshbarmak (boiled noodles with meat and onion sauce), plov (rice pilaf with meat and carrots), manty (steamed dumplings with meat or pumpkin filling), and samsa (baked pastries with meat or cheese filling).

We will continue our tour at the Nissa Art Salon, a former St Nicholas Cathedral that was converted into an art museum during the Soviet period. Here we will admire some of the finest examples of Kyrgyz embroidery and felt rugs, as well as paintings by local and international artists.

We will also visit some of Bishkek's hidden gems, such as the Art Group 705, a grungy hipster-chic space that hosts irregular exhibitions on various themes; the Gallery M, a one-room gallery that showcases works by local artists; the Dubovy Park, where we can see locally themed paintings by street artists; and the Dordoi Bazaar, a sprawling market built of repurposed shipping containers.

We will also experience some of Bishkek's entertainment options, such as the Panfilov Park, where we can enjoy carnival rides and amusements; the Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theater, where we can watch classical and modern performances; the Bishkek Central Mosque, where we can admire its architecture and learn about Islam in Kyrgyzstan; and the Bishkek nightlife scene, where we can dance, drink, and mingle with locals and foreigners.

We will also sample some of Bishkek's cuisine, which reflects its diverse influences from Central Asia, Russia, China, Turkey, and beyond. We will try dishes such as lagman (noodle soup with meat and vegetables), shashlik (grilled meat skewers), borsok (fried dough pieces with honey or jam), and kumis (fermented mare's milk).

We will also learn about some of Bishkek's events, such as the Nooruz festival (the Persian New Year celebration), the World Nomad Games (a competition of traditional sports and games), the Silk Road Festival (a cultural festival featuring music, dance, crafts, and food), and the Jazz Festival (a showcase of local and international jazz musicians).

We will also find out how to travel to Bishkek by flight or by land from neighboring countries. We will learn about the visa requirements for different nationalities. We will also get tips on how to get around Bishkek by public transportation or by taxi.

Bishkek is a city that offers a unique blend of Soviet Asian flavor and Kyrgyz charm. It is a city that welcomes visitors with its hospitality and warmth. It is a city that invites us to discover its attractions, culture, cuisine, history, and events. Join us on this vibrant journey to the gateway to the Tien Shan. Welcome to Bishkek!

Travelling In Kyrgyzstan | Our First Experience In Central Asia | Part 1 | 4K

Welcome to our first country & experience in Central Asia. We chose Kyrgyzstan to start off the journey with.

We were super excited to explore nature, history, culture & food of Kyrgyzstan. We were awestruck to see how much the country could offer. This time, we started in the capital city and eventually explored the northern part of the country. We enjoyed every bit of our travel - hiking, staying in yurts, hotsprings, horse riding, nature, chai and food. We are certain that we will visit the country again in a heartbeat.

In this video, we will take you through the first part of our travel experience in Kyrgyzstan: Bishkek, Ala Archa National Park, Burana Tower, Tokmok & Karakol.
