This week we decided to crash bike night (motorcycle night) at a local BBQ place in Chattanooga, TN. Lesson we learned: things aren't always the way they appear. We had a lot of un hanging out with new friends, eating good food, listening to local music, and showing off our new tuk tuk. in April 2023, five of us drove the length of India in two tiny, underpowered Rickshaws. This is our story.
Join us as we navigate over 3,000 kilometres of India's most challenging roads in 7-horsepower Rickshaws. The adventure begins in the beautiful fishing town of Fort Kochi, Kerala, through India's bustling cities and remote villages, across lakes in unstable fishing boats and finally up to the breathtaking Himalayan peaks, finishing up in Gangtok, Sikkim.

Mumbai's Overcharging Tuk-Tuk Drivers (How to Take a Rickshaw in India!)
I thought tuk-tuk (rickshaw) drivers went by the meter in Mumbai? Not all do! So I'll show you what to do when they don't. What you'll also notice in this video is both drivers trying to collude on price with other drivers whenever you're in a group situation hiring multiple drivers to get everyone from A to B. They'll always be trying to bargain and asking the other driver how much they're getting - rather than using the meter which avoids all this hassle.

Hailing a rickshaw in Mumbai can be a bit different from hailing a taxi or a ride-sharing service in other cities, but it can be a safe and convenient way to get around the city. Here are some tips to help you hail a rickshaw safely in Mumbai:
Look for a licensed rickshaw: Make sure the rickshaw you hail has a meter. This will ensure that you are not overcharged for your ride.

Rickshaws - the greatest achievement of mankind or just a shitty rolling cake tin. In truth it doesn't matter since they are without doubt one of the greatest adventure machines on the planet.
So when Mr Tom and Mr Ollie decided to make an in-depth video explainer of all the finer points of this engineering curiosity we thought great now we can all understand them better, even from afar. But no, they made this video-graphic pile of guff. Oh well. It is a sort of actual idiots guide.

Another big driving day as we try to make it to the finish line of the Rickshaw Run. We get off to an OK start, stop at a truck stop for breakfast, where we met a lovely local chap who gifted us some silverware. On the road again and we notice a commotion up ahead. It appears there has been a serious accident, so we pull over to investigate. Turns out a Fuel Truck has crashed and is leaking fuel everywhere, not wanting to be caught in an explosion, we quickly get the hell outta there. Further along we come across a flooded section of road, our first river crossing.
