It's was xmas period everybody was making plans on how to relax and enjoy the season while I decided to take a trip with my friends outside the country to spend xmas in a new environment and guess what guys you can have a good time in benin republic.
I will be telling you all about it but in this video I will tell you how we traveled from Nigeria to benin Republic with just our ID cards(NIN). We also booked a 2 bedroom apartment in cotonou on Airbnb two weeks before the trip. I will be dropping the link in the description below if you which to book before travelling, because hotels in benin Republic are very expensive.
There are 3 ways in which you can travel to benin republic, air, road and by water , but today we will be traveling by water because you can travel safely without a passport or get harrasted will traveling by road.
We booked a bolt from jibowo to the ferry at mile 2 for 4500naira, the ferry at mile 2 is where to book a boat from from lagos to portnovo in benin republic.

Why Are People Not Traveling To Benin Republic.
Benin, officially Republic of Benin, French République du Bénin, formerly (until 1975) Dahomey or (1975–90) People’s Republic of Benin, country of western Africa. It consists of a narrow wedge of territory extending northward for about 420 miles (675 kilometres) from the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean, on which it has a 75-mile seacoast, to the Niger River, which forms part of Benin’s northern border with Niger. Benin is bordered to the northwest by Burkina Faso, to the east by Nigeria, and to the west by Togo. The official capital is Porto-Novo, but Cotonou is Benin’s largest city, its chief port, and its de facto administrative capital. Benin was a French colony from the late 19th century until 1960.
My visit was great as I toured the Python temple in ouidah and the port du no return.

PS: I have heard so much about Benin Republic and decided to visit for my birthday.
I went by boat and I stayed in Auberge not Casa del Papel
I spent 140k in total inclusive of all meals, sim cards, accommodation, tours, and transportation.

From Lagos to Cotonou
I would not recommend any foreigners to cross boarder between Nigeria and Benin. Nigerian customs, police and immigration are very corrupted. We had to go through 10 check points and in each one of them we were asked to pay bribe. At the actual boarder station Nigerian immigration tried to accuse me that I overstayed my visa when my visa was valid for two years, I arrived on December 27 and was leaving on January 2. Then they decided to say sorry and asked for bribe which I did not pay. Nigeria for me was not a pleasant visit and not the country I want to return to. There is nothing special or extraordinary about Nigeria and nothing to WOW about. Lagos is trashy, polluted, corrupted, destroyed and unpleasant. Sorry to Nigerians but your country needs a lot of changes. Major changes.
