Belgrade Serbia - Europe's Best Kept Secret

Belgrade Serbia was once the capital of Yugoslavia but now it's the party capital of Europe. Belgrade is also one of the most affordable capital cities in all of Europe! Serbia has had quite a turbulent past but now has emerged with a vibrant cafe culture, unique architecture, and a lively nightlife. Serbian food is so delicious too. Ana's dad grew up in Serbia and moved to America when he was 25. It was amazing meeting up with her family to get the authentic Serbian experience. We visited Kalemegdan, Belgrade Fortress, Ada Ciganlija, Knez Mihailova. This city is truly one of a kind

Belgrade, Serbia 4K - Walking Tour of City Center of Belgrade

Walking tour of Belgrade on a sunny spring day. This walk starts by Skadarlija and continues along with the main streets and boulevards of Belgrade such as Terazije, Kneza Miloša Street. Important landmarks of Belgrade such as Nikole Pašić Square, House of the National Assembly, New Palace, Hotel Moskva, Republic Square is also walked by and the tour ends with the view of confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers from Kalemegdan or Belgrade Fortress.

Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and at the crossroads of the Pannonian Plain and the Balkan Peninsula. The population of the Belgrade metropolitan area is 1,681,405 according to the 2022 census. It is the third most populated of all cities on the Danube river.

Skadarlija is a vintage street, an urban neighborhood and former municipality of Belgrade, Serbia, located in the Belgrade municipality of Stari Grad (Old Town). Skadarlija partially preserves the ambience of traditional urban architecture, including archaic urban organization, and is known as the main bohemian quarter of Belgrade, similar to Montmartre in Paris. Since 1967, Skadarlija has been protected by law as a spatial cultural-historical unit.

After Kalemegdan, Skadarlija is the second-most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade, contributing one third of the city's foreign-currency income.

The Nikola Pašić Square is one of the central town squares and an urban neighborhoods of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The square is named after Nikola Pašić who served as mayor of Belgrade, prime minister of Serbia and prime minister of Yugoslavia. Until 1992 the square was named the Square of Marx and Engels.

The House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is the seat of the National Assembly of Serbia. The building is on Nikola Pašić Square in downtown Belgrade, and is a landmark and tourist attraction. Between its completion in 1936 and 2006, it was the seat of the Parliament of Yugoslavia and the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro.

Hotel Moskva is a four star hotel in Belgrade, one of the oldest currently operating in Serbia. The building has been under governmental protection since 1968. Originally operating as a 36-room inn within the multi-purpose Palace Rossiya, whose almost three-year construction and January 1908 opening represented a major investment of the Russian Empire in the Serbian economy, Hotel Moskva eventually expanded its facilities to take up the entire palace.

The Belgrade Fortress consists of the old citadel (Upper and Lower Town) and Kalemegdan Park (Large and Little Kalemegdan) on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, in an urban area of modern Belgrade, Serbia. Located in Belgrade's municipality of Stari Grad, the fortress constitutes the specific historical core of the city. As one of the most important representatives of Belgrade's cultural heritage, it was originally protected right after World War II, among the first officially declared cultural monuments in Serbia. The fortress was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979, and is protected by the Republic of Serbia. It is the most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade, with Skadarlija being the second. Since the admission is free, it is estimated that the total number of visitors (foreign, domestic, citizens of Belgrade) is over 2 million yearly.

The Danube is the second-longest river in Europe, after the Volga in Russia. It flows through much of Central and Southeastern Europe, from the Black Forest into the Black Sea. A large and historically important river, it was once a frontier of the Roman Empire and today connects ten European countries, running through their territories or being a border. Originating in Germany, the Danube flows southeast for 2,850 km (1,770 mi), passing through or bordering Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine. Among the many cities on the river are four national capitals: Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade and Bratislava. Its drainage basin amounts to 817 000 km² and extends into nine more countries.

Walking in BELGRADE / Serbia ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)

Belgrade is the capital of Serbia. The city name in Serbian: Београд, Beograd means 'White City'. This south-eastern European capital is mostly off the usual tourist map though some travellers come to Belgrade to experience the city’s atmosphere or nightlife.

We start our evening walk in summer (August 2019) at the south end of the main walking street Kneza Mihaila. We walk the whole street north-west to Kalemegdan Park and the Kale Meydan - a viewing spot.

The significant landmark is of Blegrade is the Beogradska Tvrđava forttress. We can overlook the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers and walk around the fortress park. There we check out different viewing spots and the Military Museum.

It is getting dark so with the sunset we head back to the city centre. We see several side streets of Kneza Mihaila with cafés and restaurants that are lively on this summer evening. The night arrives as we walk further to end our tour near the National Assembly and New Palace (Nowy Dwor) in
Pionirski park.

[4K] Walking in Belgrade | Belgrade, Serbia Virtual Walk (Belgrade VLOG)

In today's Belgrade VLOG, we go walking in Belgrade. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and has a population of 1.8 million. The city combines a fascinating variety of architectural styles and is one of the main tourist destinations in Southeast Europe.

Belgrade lies on the borders between European and Turkish influences, which has created an enigmatic mix of cultures. It offers a wonderful joy of life and a vibrant coffee culture.

In addition, it has a compact center, which can be easily visited on foot.

Many downtown streets are pedestrianized, which increases your comfortable mobility.

What to do in Belgrade

1. Enjoy the best views from Belgrade fortress

Belgrade Fortress was once the most important fortification in the city, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Now it is an urban park, with cafes, museums and an observatory, as well as an excellent place for walking. It is the medieval focus of the city.

2. Immerse yourself in a bohemian neighborhood

The bohemian neighborhood of Skadarlija is still the home of the emerging poets and writers that began in the mid-20th century. No one should miss this area when visiting Belgrade. It is a vintage street full of local craft stores, restaurants, bakeries and art galleries.

3. Paying tribute to a Serbian saint at the Temple of St. Sava

Enjoy a breath of modern architecture at the Temple of St. Sava. It is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, whose structure was started in the 1930s and abandoned at the beginning of World War II. The church began rebuilding again in the 1980s and is still being renovated today. The Temple of St. Sava offers free admission and receives thousands of faithful and religious visitors every year.

4. Escape the heat of summer in Ada Ciganlija

If you are visiting Belgrade in the summer, you will definitely want to cool down and take a dip in the Sava River. Over time, the island Ada Ciganlija has become an outdoor recreational park with beaches and sports facilities for visitors. Located in the center of Belgrade, it is very popular for the calm and beauty of its green surroundings.

5. Discovering the former Yugoslavia in Tito's mausoleum

Tito's Mausoleum pays tribute to the last President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Marshal Josip Broz Tito. The mausoleum owes its name to the flowers that once surrounded the grave of the former president until the dissolution of Yugoslavia into independent states. Next to the complex is the Museum of Yugoslavia, which teaches the history of the Balkans.

Freestyle Walking takes you on city walks or a virtual walking tour of different cities around the world. This unique travel vlog allows you to take a 4K walk so you can feel like you're there yourself taking a city tour.

Belgrade, Serbia Walking 4K - Knez Mihailova Street

Join me as we walk through Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in its most popular street Knez Mihailova often referred as Knez Mihaila.

The walk starts from Trg Republike (Republic Square) and we walk all along the Knez Mihaila street to the Kalemegdan Fortress.

Creative Commons License.

Knez Mihailova is one of the oldest and most important streets Knez Mihailova is one of the oldest and most important streets in Belgrade and is a testimony to the continuous duration of the city. There are traces of ancient civilization in the area of the street. In Roman times, one of the main access roads, the Via Cardo, stretched along a route that for the most part coincided with today's stretch of Kneza Mihaila Street. There is no evidence that this area was inhabited in the Middle Ages. In the first half of the 16th century, the old Roman one was renovated and a new water supply system was built, which ran along the route of today's street, which created the conditions for the emergence of the settlement.

Republic Square is the central city square in Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Stari grad and covers the area between the City Tavern, the Jadran cinema, the National Theater and the House of the Serbian Army. The old name of the square was Pozorišni trg.

4K - ???????? A Virtual Walk Through Terazije Square In Belgrade, Serbia????????????????

Terazije is the central town square and the surrounding neighborhood of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Stari Grad.

Today, Terazije's primary function of the main transit square, surrounded by important public buildings, cultural institutions, hotels, public monuments, and parks

It was a lovely day to walk through the area. I hope you enjoy the walk with me.
