Enormous Glacier Calvings montage

A three minute montage of some large glacier calvings I've managed to film over the past few years whilst on various assignments in the high arctic. All of these glaciers are in Svalbard and Alaska.

Calving is absolutely a natural glacial occurrence, what is unnatural now is that rate at which it is happening and this is well documented. Our glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate. Recently I returned to a location in Svalbard where I had not been for five years. The glacier had retreated so many miles that the glacier was now three smaller glaciers and entire bay was unrecognisable compared to my previous visit.

Glacier Goes BOOM! Alaska Cruise trip toTracy Arm & Sawyer Glacier with HUGE Iceberg Calving!

On @Carnival Alaska cruise excursion had a glacier iceberg fall at Tracy Arm Fjord at South Sawyer Glacier! We saw a huge chunk of ice fall off the glacier and create a mini tsunami, and then we saw a beautiful rainbow between the snow-capped mountain peaks. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience that we captured on camera and want to share with you.

Hi, SeaRollers! We are back with another travel vlog that will blow your mind. In this video, we will show you our amazing adventure in Alaska, where we explored the stunning Tracy Arm Fjord and the South Sawyer Glacier on a deluxe ice-breaking excursion ship. This was one of the most incredible and unforgettable experiences we ever had, and we can't wait to share it with you.

In this video, you will see how we boarded the Carnival Spirit, a beautiful cruise ship that took us to one of the most scenic and spectacular fjords in Alaska. You will see how we sailed through the 30-mile fjord that is filled with natural wonders. You will hear from the onboard naturalist who told us about the history, geology, and ecology of this unique place. You will see the dramatic cliffs that rise 4000-feet above the jade-colored sea, the lush rainforests that cover the slopes, and the cascading waterfalls that splash us in the face.

You will also see how we encountered the amazing wildlife that lives in and around the fjord, such as bald eagles, harbor seals, mountain goats, and maybe even whales. You will see how we captured them on camera and learned about them from our knowledgeable guide. You will be amazed by the diversity and beauty of these animals. You might even see an occasional bear roaming on the shore.

But the most exciting part of this video is when we reached the face of the South Sawyer Glacier, a massive tidewater glacier that is constantly melting and moving. You will see how we witnessed a rare and spectacular phenomenon called glacial calving, where huge chunks of ice break off from the glacier and crash into the water, creating a loud thunderous sound and a small tidal wave. You will see one of the largest glacial calving events that the crew had seen this summer. It was like watching a natural fireworks show, with loud thunderous sounds and small tidal waves. It was an awe-inspiring sight that we will never forget!

This excursion was one of the best things we did on our Alaska cruise and a must-do for anyone who loves nature and adventure. It was fun, educational, and exciting. It was also safe and comfortable, as the ice-breaking ship was equipped with waterjets that allow it to maneuver smoothly and avoid damaging the environment.

This excursion is one of the best things you can do on your Alaska cruise and a must-do for anyone who loves nature and adventure. You can book it by sending an email to Carnival Excursions (go to their website to get the email address). It runs at 11:15 AM on all sailings when the ship is cruising the Tracy Arm Fjord, and the price of the tour is $149 per Adult & $99 per Child.

If you want to see what it's like to visit one of the most amazing glaciers in Alaska, watch this video and subscribe to our channel for more travel vlogs. And if you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. We would love to hear from you!

EQI GLACIER | 5KM GoT Wall in Real Life + Massive Glacier Calving (GREENLAND TRAVEL VLOG Ep 3)

EQI GLACIER | 5KM GoT Wall in Real Life + Massive Glacier Calving (GREENLAND TRAVEL VLOG Ep 3)

Absolutely massive and stunning gigantic wall of glacier - yes, it's just like the Game of Thrones Wall in real life! Can you imagine being in front of this majestic natural wonder and not able to see where it ends (literally)? What's even more breathtaking is seeing a huge piece of ice calving right in front of my eyes.

This episode of my Greenland tours is about my trip to Eqi Glacier (aka Eqip Sermia, aka The Calving Glacier), located 2 hours north of Ilulissat by speed boat. This is one of the most active glaciers in Greenland. In order to witness this miraculous view, I attempted 3 times - unfortunately, first 2 tries were cancelled due to water and wind conditions. Finally, on my last try, we managed to admire the Calving Glacier at its finest in the mist. Regardless of climate change, glaciers do produce ice on a regular basis. Yet, on the day we were there, we could clearly hear continuous huge explosive sounds from glacier collapse. Seeing the glacier melting right in front of my eyes was certainly a whole different level of emotion.

Enjoy part 2 (of 3) of my solo travel vlog series to Ilulissat. More adventures from my travels during the pandemic coming up (Don't forget to subscribe)

Cheers,
Michael Wanderworld

Harvard Glacier

Glacier Bay National Park - 2 Days of Whales, Glacier Calving, Hikes & More

Glacier Bay is a fantastic national park in southern Alaska that is combined with Wrangell-St. Elias and Kulane National Park in Canada to make a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is difficult to visit and most people only see it via cruise ship. However, we wanted to actually spend some time there so we flew in from Juneau to Glacier Bay National Park and stayed at the lodge. We spent two days hiking around the park and taking a stunning full day boat cruise. From playful sea otters to majestic bald eagles, the park's diverse ecosystem left us in awe of nature's remarkable power and beauty. It was a fantastic trip and let us know what you think in the comments.
