(North) Macedonia is definitely one of the most under rated countries in Europe for just how much it has to offer. From its stunning nature, to its delicious food and the very kind people who live there, it is a perfect choice for anyone who wants to see Europe off the beaten track. Lake Ohrid is one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes, a gem of Albania and North Macedonia we had to see. In this vlog we travel on a Skopje To Ohrid Tour with Skopje Daily Tours to...⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —
Lake Ohrid is a name we've heard a heck of a lot during our time in Albania and Macedonia / North Macedonia — so during our time in Skopje we couldn't miss it. We've spent the past 2 months exploring both countries and the most common tour we get told about is Lake Ohrid. It's one of Europes largest and deepest lakes and it's accessable from both Albania and Macedonia, so both countries recommend it highly.
We took a private tour from Skopje to Lake Ohrid with a company called Skopje Daily Tours, they have trips country wide to all sorts of attractions so we can definitely recommend them — This was a 7-10 hour tour from Skopje because of the driving distance, dependant on how long you spend in Ohrid and at/around the lake itself.
The lake was surprising in a way that we should have expected - its far more developed than we had imagined. It's no wonder our new Albania and Macedonia friends were telling us to check it out, for a weekend it would be epic. As a quick taste to share the experience we loved it, a tour from Skopje to Ohrid is a lot easier than a bus or hiring a car as well.
So is it Europes best lake? Honestly, you tell us, we've not seen enough of them to know - can only imagine Lake Camo is high on that list purely for it's class and beauty? But we can say we've had at least 20 message from people telling us Lake Ohrid is the greatest of them all, but as with all travel destinations, that's subjective.

Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia is mind-blowingly beautiful. It's the most scenic lake in the Balkans (and, dare I say it, even in Europe!). It's a paradise not so many people know, so I was so excited to be here finally!
Lake Ohrid is shared between North Macedonia and Albania. Lake Ohrid is the oldest lake in Europe and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
On this trip, I explored the North Macedonian side of the lake. I based myself in Ohrid, the town by the lake. It's a popular destination for Macedonians, which is great if you want to soak up some local vibes.
I did a lot of walking around Ohrid, and later in the day, I joined a (small) boat tour visiting various places surrounding Lake Ohrid.
Honestly, this place is one for the books! Here are the places I've visited and should be on your must-visit places in Lake Ohrid, North Macedonia:
