Sailing to St Vincent and the Grenadines | SAILING SUNDAY | Ep.179

#sailing #caribbean #travel
This week we sail from St Lucia to St Vincent and the Grenadines! In the recent weeks we've had friends with dinghies stolen here, and a week after we left someone was held up at knife point right right where we had just taken a mooring ball! We heard not to check in at St Vincent as it's not safe due to burglary and theft, but we had no other choice with Jackson. St Vincent is the only place we can check in with our dog!

Sailing to SAINT LUCIA - Exploring the Windward Islands | EP 18 - Sailing Beaver

#sailing #caribbean #saintlucia
We sail South to Saint Lucia in the Windward Islands, catch up with friends and explore some new anchorages. Our weak little sea legs get a good workout when we climb (what felt like a vertical wall) to the top of a volcano 'The Petit Piton' in the southern part of the island. Hope you enjoy watching our struggle to the top where we get rewarded with the most spectacular views of Saint Lucia.

A couple from Australia and Norway who set sails from Norway on a Beneteau Oceanis 40 in late 2018 to explore the world by sailboat. (Yup, another sailing couple doing the standard route and documenting it on film.)

Ep. 81. Sailing FAST to St. Vincent, SLOW past the volcano.

Join us for a fast sail sail from St. Lucia to St. Vincent, then slowly past the recently active volcano on the leeward side of St Vincent. We have dramatic views of St. Vincent as we sail past La Soufriere, the volcano that erupted this year on April 9, 2021. It was a day of no wind, too much wind, no wind, head wind and motoring. Sailing between the Caribbean islands brings lots of variability!

St Lucia HERE WE COME!!! | Sailing Sunday | Ep.177

This week, we leave the French Islands in the Caribbean sailing to St Lucia. We've heard mixed stories about this place from beautiful amazing beaches, to break-ins and robberies! Our first hurdle though, the mainsail jams again as we set sail and you might actually get to meet angry Ryan for the first time on passage to St Lucia lol

PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE TO SAILING SUNDAY to follow our journey as we sail around the world with Jackson, our German Shepherd dog on our 2008 Beneteau oceans 46.

We SAILED to Tobago Cays ???????????? Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

We set out from union island and headed across to Tobago Cays

This has been a bucket list destination for quite some time. We have always been fascinated by the incredible blue water, reef and being able to swim with the elusive turtles we’ve been trying to catch a glimpse of since arriving in the Caribbean Sea.
We always thought people’s videos were obviously very over edited because the colours were way too bright and blue.
Welll… as we sailed towards Tobago Cays the colours started to change, it had us all hanging over the side of Saoirse catching a glimpse of the suddenly turquoise water. Little did we know what we were in for when we dropped anchor and had a look around at this incredible island paradise. The water was crystal clear, and an unbelievable turquoise that you didn’t look real, I kept reaching to take my sunglasses off in the effort to make sure i
Was seeing the true colours but I wasn’t wearing any sunglasses.

Trying to get video of this amazing destination was hard because we constantly felt like we needed to adjust settings to bring down the saturation but it wasn’t the settings of the camera it was just what was actually in-front of us.

Tobago Cays is located in Saint Vincent and grenadines. It is part of the tobago cays marine park.

It is home to a series of globally significant habitats including coral reefs, sea turtle nesting sites and feeding areas, aswell as small systems of mangroves.

The only thing protecting this area is the horse shoe reef that surrounds the islands. That is the only form of protection between tobago keys and the North West coast of Africa. I think that is pretty incredible. You are able to anchor on the windward side of the cays because of the protection from the coral reef. It is still bumpy and the wind still howls that side but it is so worth it for the view.

We took shelter behind Petite Bateau because there was some swell and wind coming through. There was also a massive amount of yachts on the other side of the park. We picked up a beautiful and new mooring ball. We were told that they were 3 weeks old. We guess this came into effect around the same time the fees went up over new years.

We took the dingy across to Baradal , it is known for the turtle sightings and it is cordoned off by bouys around the south side of the island.

There is growing evidence that this ecosystem is being affected by non-sustainable use and natural environmental impacts. Significant sources of natural threats to corals are storm damage and white band disease and bleaching.

The impacts associated with visiting yachts are anchor damage to sea grass and coral aswell as yachts running aground, snorkeling and diving, and bilge and wastewater discharge from yachts.
We noticed while we we in the park and snorkelling the lack of knowledge people have about the coral eco systems. While we were snorkeling we saw Many people stand on the coral aswell as touch it.

There has been a recent uproar about the Tobago Cays marine park because of the increase in marine park fees. You used to be able to anchor for free and only pay per person but now they charge you for anchoring too. There is no aproblem with charging to be in a marine park especially one as beautiful as tobago cays but maybe putting some money back into pamphlets that are given out to visiting yachts on how to protect the marine park and it’s eco system would help enlighten people about how to treat it.

Our stay in Tobago Cays was nothing short of magical. We hope to head back there again.

We Caught a Sailfish Sailing to St. Vincent! - Episode 17

After spending a month in Grenada, we decided it was time to move to a new country. In this episode we experience medical care for the first time in a foreign country. We do a few chores before checking out of Grenada and then set sail to St. Vincent. We have an amazing sail and happen to hook on to our biggest fish yet! Once we arrive in St. Vincent, we follow their customs procedures before moving on to our new anchorage.

We hope you are enjoying our journey.

Many cheers,
B&G

Our Autopilot Fails... Again! Night Sail to St. Lucia - Episode 20

In this episode, we sail overnight from Bequia to St. Lucia. Although only a 15 hour sail, it was a salty one. We have some issues with our autopilot and arrive in St. Lucia exhausted. After spending all day trying to get checked into Customs and Immigration, we are finally able to roam free. We check out the Castries Central Market and find a couple rum shops, in Gros Islet, to hangout at. We try to find a good dive site but are unsuccessful. After being in St. Lucia for just a few days we learn of a possible lock down which could potentially change our future plans.

Cheers and much love,
B+G

SAINT LUCIA - Most beautiful island in the world? - TRAVEL GUIDE to ALL top sights in 4K

Saint Lucia is the ultimate honeymoon destination. It has the most beautiful nature and is the absolute highlight in the middle of the Caribbean. There is also plenty to do for backpackers and traveling families. In this video I show you why every traveler should visit Saint Lucia at least once: it's just a place that can hardly be beat!

After Saint Lucia we visit many more gems in the Caribbean. Whether they will match with Saint Lucia remains to be seen! With the best views of the gigantic pitons, overnight stays in tree houses in the middle of the jungle and the most beautiful snow-white beaches, Saint Lucia is high on the list of the most beautiful islands in the world. We sleep in Soufrière, visit the Diamond Waterfalls, hike the Tet Paul Nature Trail and visit the beaches Anse Chastanet, Sugar Beach and Jalousie Plantation Beach. From the west, we drive our small jeep through the rainforest to the south and east, before relaxing at an all-inclusive resort in the north.

This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman, Cape Verde and Martinique, Saint Lucia is our fifth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in the Caribbean and then to many more beautiful destinations! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything. Sailing The Windward Islands Episode 2, St Lucia to Mayreau

Three friends from work and our partners set sail from St Lucia on a Moorings Lagoon 4000 to explore St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines. This is the second video of five as we sail the West Indies, play in the water explore the islands, cook eat and drink. This video covers two days - sailing from The Pitons in St Lucia to Bequia and then the next day to Mayreau. Enjoy! And subscribe and click the notification bell to get the future episodes.

UPWIND! Sailing high from St Vincent Northward

The 75nm passage from St. Vincent, bypassing St. Lucia, to Martinique was challenging. The seas state between St. Vincent and St. Lucia in particular was messy and the winds were way in front of the beam. The pre-dawn departure from Cumberland Bay with frequent sail adjusting allowed us to set the hook in St. Anne shortly before sunset, exhausted but happy.

EVERYTHING’S BREAKING! Sailing St. Vincent, Martinique and Dominica

Episode 36
This was a rough time for us. It was the holidays and it seemed like everything was breaking! Our adventure began with a sail from St. Vincent to St. Lucia and we were immediately greeting by a pod of pink-bellied dolphins which is good luck to begin a journey! We had to stop to repair the generator's carborator. Then we sailed on to Le Marin, Martinique where we took a walk in the rain and darkness to try (unsuccessfully) to check in. The next day we explored the beautiful town of St. Anne and while dealing with bad weather and not the best ancorage we saw rainbows while Gary sought help with our growing list of needed repairs (autopilot and shore power to begin with). He found someone to help him install a new regulator (which did NOT fix our issue). On our way to Fort-de-France we stopped in Anse Noire to snorkel an underwater cave! Next, Gary spent some time trying to figure out the alternator situation with SUCCESS! The motor began charging the batteries again.
To celebrate, we spent time exploring Fort-de-France. We had some beer and pizza and saw a stunning church. Gary then worked on fixing the watermaker motor and we cooked with our new pan.
We then sailed on to St. Pierre which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1902. Here we explored the amazing ruins by sunset. These included a theatre, a prison and a fort built in 1635!
Gary services the water separator on the outboard before we sail on to Dominica. Spent some time snorkeling with a variety of fish and an Electric Ray.
We hope you enjoy our videos! Don't forget to check out the Nonsense at the end of each episode! ????
