Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

Luxury in Antarctica | ECHO, the world's most remote camp (PHENOMENAL!)
Join me on a full tour (in 4K) of Echo, the world's most remote luxury camp in Antarctica. Inspired by astronauts, Echo sits on a massive glacier in quiet solitude encircled by ice-covered rock formations. The futuristic camp is managed by White Desert and can only be reached by private flight.

Heavy Snowfall Solo Camping | Ep.7
Solo camping in the snow in a hot tent.
Weather has suddenly changed from rain to heavy snow.
It was raining lightly when we arrived at the campsite.
The rain melted the snow, and it was very difficult to set up because our feet were buried in the snow.
After setting up safely, we grilled delicious steaks on the wood stove and went to bed.
By night, the rain had turned to snow.
The tent was very spacious and safe to sleep in.
When I woke up in the morning, I was surprised to see a lot of snow on the ceiling of my tent.
The weight of the snow bent the tent poles.
The snow shoveling went very smoothly.
After breakfast, we relaxed a bit and then took a nap.
When I woke up from my nap, the weather had changed to heavy snow.
There was quite a bit of snow around the tent.
We felt that if the snow continued to fall at this rate, the tents were in danger of being buried, so we began to take them down in a hurry.
We managed to complete the cleanup by sundown.
It was a camp where we learned about weather changes and the greatness of nature.

Ep 21 Field Training (We slept outside in Antarctica!)
Every Australian Antarctic expeditioner must undergo field training before winter really sets in which means one thing - the night in the bivi (bivouac). As well as some orientation and equipment training, we take a hike, make of meal of emergency rations, and sleep (very little) in what amounts to a one persons tent without poles.

Here's how some of our landings at Antarctica looks like and we visited Port Lockroy which has the World's southernmost Post office and souvenir shop. One of the crazy things we have done is spending 1 night camping on Antractica. It's definitely once in a lifetime experience!

Antarctica camping in polar cruises
You might have heard about the possibility of camping on cruises to Antarctica, or perhaps you know someone who has done it. But what is this craziness all about? Why would anyone want to go camping in Antarctica? Still more puzzlingly, why would anyone leave behind a comfortable bed on a perfectly good cruise ship to spend a night outside on the ice?
There must be a reason, because passengers gladly pay extra to do exactly that. For many who choose to camp in Antarctica, the reason is simple: they do it because it’s an opportunity to experience something extraordinary, something unique, something they can’t do anywhere else.
Camping in Antarctica will significantly increase the time you spend in direct contact with the polar environment. As the sun slowly sets, you can forget about time and let your senses fully absorb the awesomeness of this legendary wilderness. Maybe you would like to spend a few more quality hours in the company of penguins. Or perhaps you would simply like to find a peaceful place away from the group to enjoy the drama of ever-changing evening light on the mountains. In the stillness of the gathering night, you might hear the haunting chorus of Weddell seals, subliminally singing as they slumber on their drifting beds of ice. Glaciers rumble and icebergs crack in the deepening cold, sending sonic reverberations that echo for miles. Close your eyes and these otherworldly sounds will follow you into dreams.
