The Nevada Triangle | 2,000 Planes Mysteriously Crashed & Missing Near Area 51 ????????
Most of us have heard of the Bermuda Triangle, where planes and ships have mysteriously gone missing in the Atlantic Ocean for decades. Did you know there is a similar place in Nevada? The Nevada Triangle. In a region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Nevada and California, 2,000 planes have been lost in the last 60 years. In this remotely populated area of more than 25,000 miles of mountain desert, many of the crash sites have never been found.
The Nevada Triangle is typically defined as spanning from Las Vegas, Nevada in the southeast to Fresno, California in the west, and to Reno, Nevada at the top. Within this wilderness is the mysterious, top-secret Area 51. Along with the dozens of conspiracy theories which include UFOs and paranormal activity that surrounds the air force base, similar theories have long been considered regarding the Nevada Triangle.
One plane to go missing was that of a record-setting aviator, sailor, and adventurer named Steve Fossett on September 3, 2007. Fossett, flying a single-engine plane over Nevada's Great Basin Desert, took off and never returned. After hunting for a month for the plane, the search was called off and on February 15, 2008, Fossett was declared dead. Later that year on September 29th, Fossett's identification cards were discovered in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California by a hiker.
Throughout the years, many of the missing planes were flown by experienced pilots and have disappeared under mysterious circumstances: and their wreckage never found.
The biggest mystery is: nobody really talks about it.

The Voynich Manuscript
The Voynich Manuscript is a beautifully illustrated, yet enigmatic, medieval codex named after its discoverer, Wilfrid Voynich, a Polish book dealer who unearthed it in 1912. The manuscript is a perplexing puzzle penned on vellum—fine parchment made from the prepared skin of an animal. It comprises around 240 pages, many of which are foldable and reveal larger diagrams.
The manuscript exudes an unmistakable antiquity, with scientific tests dating it to the early 15th century. Each page is roughly the size of a modern A4 paper and is densely populated with text and illustrations that are as intriguing as they are baffling.
The script of the Voynich Manuscript is unlike anything else found in recorded linguistics, a unique confluence of elegant curves and loops that do not correspond to any known language or code. Despite numerous attempts by cryptographers and linguists, the manuscript's text remains unread, holding its secrets tightly concealed within its peculiar glyphs.

The Japanese island Kyushu holds what is called the Nine Hells. The Nine Hells of Beppu is popular amount those in Japan, but almost unknown to foreigners. This is a beautiful spot to visit if traveling to this specific area. The oddity of this attraction is that they are natural ponds that are all of different colors.

The scientists decided to set up a drilling rig to have access to the gas reserve but something went terribly wrong.

Typographic Obfuscation: Communication for Privacy and Protest | Heather Snyder-Quinn | ATypI 2020
This talk presents stories of creative obfuscation for communication from the past, present, and future. Examples include speculative typography that utilizes augmented reality, biotechnology, machine learning, and techniques created by non-experts that engage multiple senses like voice and gesture. The non-expert demonstrates the breadth of human ingenuity for primal need and desire, often against much larger powers, and shows how subversive design and unsettling systems can be done by anyone. Throughout history, humans have always necessitated methods for hiding their secrets and maintaining their privacy. Their methods of concealment have evolved with time. Despite more advanced technologies and even the utmost diligence, no secret is ever totally safe; unless kept in the depths of one’s mind. However, a speculated future indicates that not even our thoughts are secure thanks to technology, via surveillance capitalism.
In the past, we obfuscated physically with materials through redaction, the wearing of masks, and the hiding of physical objects. In the present, we obfuscate digitally with false personas, filters, altered data, and encrypted messaging. In the future, the author uses design fiction to speculate that we will be internally surveilled to the very root of our DNA. As a result, we will obfuscate our bodies as well as our physical and emotional states. Analysis of our methods of secrecy within the silos of past, present, and future allows for a deeper understanding of our evolving human boundaries. In the present day, we struggle to understand technologies power on the fabric of our lives. If we look ahead 100 years, what are the ethical considerations of emerging technologies? If we imagine the collapse of democracy and a future society lived in a panoptic spectacle, how would we communicate privately and freely?
This presentation will feature research for a fellowship with Design Incubation to co-author a book. The book will have a call for submissions.
