Can We Travel For Free & Live Like A Local | Workaway Volunteer Travel Experience In Ooty, India

How To Travel The World For FREE ?

In the minds of wanderers like us there are only two types of thoughts - One is how to save money while travelling or how to travel for longer periods of time. And that is why Volunteer travel is an option that is godsend

So, a few days ago I finally decided to look for a destination for my maiden volunteering experience and this brought me to an organic farm near Ooty that I found on Workaway. Platforms like Workaway, WWOOF and Worldpackers essentially connect local hosts with volunteers from all over the world. The idea behind this is work exchange where volunteers give their time helping around the place in exchange for accommodation and food

My Volunteer Work Experience in India - volunteer in India | Right to Live NGO

Hey everyone! My name is Cheryl, and today I am going to tell you about my volunteer experience I had in India. For 18 months, from January 2015-June 2016, I served as Vice President of the NGO Right to Live in Bangalore, India. The main goal of Right to Live was to raise funds for medical treatment of the poor in India.

Right To Live, a Kote Foundation initiative, was conceived with the core mission to help the less privileged improve their standard of living by providing them access to transformative services such as Health and Education.

Right To Live is a collaborative social platform connecting patients, doctors, financial donors, individuals, institutions and government with the common vision of helping the less privileged get access to critical healthcare treatment.

The Right To Live portal is a social technology platform that envisages a new world of Hope and Care for less privileged to raise money by using “Crowd Donation / Micro Patronage” through the power of Internet. Right To Live connects people and technology in order to save lives.

India is a wonderful place to travel and live. Volunteering in India is a great way to experience life in the country and make a difference at the same time. The country has a great culture and has many beautiful places to see.

My work at Right to Live was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in volunteering in India. I learned so much, both about India and myself, and my time there will remain a cherished memory. I am grateful to Right To Live and the people of India for the opportunity.

Food Tourism In India

Food tourism (or culinary tourism) is simply a matter of traveling beyond your immediate neighborhood to find great food. Of course, the further you are willing to travel, the broader the your range of culinary experiences will be.
In this video, we'll be talking about some amazing delicacies that India has to offer.

Where travel meets volunteering||Volunteer and travel||Volunteer Yatra

Hello you all! I’m Shubham and I’m going to take you through my wonderful experience of volunteer travelling with Volunteer Yatra. It took me around three days to reach my destination but let me tell you, it was totally worth it. It was a soulful and enriching experience and I hope I can express the adventures I had in the best way possible.
I travelled to a place called Bhairagarh, which is in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. I have never travelled to Chamba before but heard about it in songs and movies. I was always curious to know more about it, so when I got this opportunity to travel to Chamba as a volunteer, I caught
onto it immediately. I saw the pictures of the host property and that further heightened my excitement to visit the place. I wanted to be there as soon as possible!
I applied to volunteer there for eight days, from 7th January to 14th January. When I reached the valley, I was mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes and the serene views the place had to offer. Unlike cities, Delhi especially (where I’m from), the valley was barely commercialised and that made the experience so much more raw, exotic,
adventurous and natural. So many things amazed me there- temples, the surroundings and the treks I took. Getting away from all the city hustle-bustle was like a breath of fresh air and every moment I spent there had something new to offer. It was peaceful and
meditative.

This whole new experience of living with locals and observing their work, closely observing their living standards and the hard work they put in totally gave me a million ideas about vlogging and the ways in which I can
tell a better story. In fact, this was my very first experience where I could use my skills as an artist to uplift a community. It was a very different experience for me. Even though arts and humanities study society closely and in great detail, this was the first time that I could apply it in a real-life context. It taught me some very interesting lessons.

Volunteer travelling really helps to enhance your social skills and to widen your social circle. I got a chance to really bond with the host community and it helped develop my interpersonal skills. Apart from the activity
volunteered for, I used to explore the serene scenery, actively participated in trekking and tried their traditional food (sarso ka saag, manda, Himalayan tea) and which too was cooked with their organic vegetables. I had many conversations about different topics with them
over a cup of tea. In fact, every time I cooked with the locals, that was a learning experience as well. My cultural and interactive experiences were really amazing and immersive. The host and I became better friends with each passing day. I’m still in touch with them and we talk sometimes. Talk about creating lifetime bonds, it’s all here.

To all those thinking about trying out volunteer travelling and to my future YATRIS, I would like to say whatever you do is not just for one community, not just for the host, not just for Volunteer Yatra, not just for your own fun, but for all of us. Artists have real power and the world needs to witness that. It’s a beautiful feeling to know that you can really make a change out there and contribute to society. It gives your life an added sense of
purpose and meaning. I suggest you give it your all, your heart and soul. I was fortunate enough to visit a location to use my art form for that area’s upliftment as a whole, and trust me, you can do it too! That’s all from me folks. I hope you make use of this opportunity and as Gandhi says, be the change that you want to see in the world. With that said, sayonara!

Caravans are the new tourism trend in India. Perfect for those of us who like to stay indoors but also explore new and exciting destinations at the drop of a hat, caravans or camper vans allow travelers to travel but with the safety of home intact. The culture of caravans in India seems to have hit the road in recent times.

Backpacking with a Purpose

“It’s just one bottle” - said 7.8 billion people.

Our recent Backpacking with a Purpose trip volunteers spent a day collecting plastic waste for hours on end in Kaza. The never-ending bags of trash that they kept collecting left them astonished at the kind of impact travellers just like them, have left behind. In about an hour they had 2 bags of trash each and loads more to go.

Want to make a difference while travelling in Spiti and leave behind a positive impact? Look no further. Join our Backpacking with a Purpose program.
