The water, the sun, the sky, and the experience will amount to a memory you surely will never forget. This is a serene place with a simplistic hike that is suitable for anyone.
Of my many times to Lake Bled, Slovenia, this is my first to Vintgar Gorge. It is well worth the trip. I am very happy that I was finally able to trek this place. Make sure to buy your tickets ONLINE before you go. It will save you a lot of time!
This video provides the details necessary to visually understand where to go and what to do. It may not be evident with textual information only. My last piece of advice is to TAKE THE GREEN PATH. You will not regret it. Enjoy!

A short trip to Lake Bohinj and the spectacular Vintgar Gorge. Ending with a beautiful hike in the Slovenian Alps. Bled, a Slovenian resort town in the foothills of the Julian Alps, is set along the glacial Lake Bled. On a cliff overlooking the lake is the 11th-century Bled Castle, which houses a museum, chapel and printing press. Atop a small island in the lake's center is the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria, with its steep staircase and bell tower.

It's one thing to VISIT Bled???? as a TOURIST, quite another way is it to explore it like the LOCALS. Ojstrica Peak is an iconic peak in Slovenia, full of beautiful views: and if you will ever visit this gorgeous place, it should definitely be on your ????. From Ljubljana, you have 1h of ????.
• FIRST INFO: From the west shore of the Lake Bled to the top of the peak you have roughly 20-35 min of a hike. And you will gain 190 meters (624 feet) of vertical climb elevation.
• PATHS: The place isn't hard to find... Paths are marked pretty well????, you do not have traditional red and white dots as you would be able to find up in the mountains, but at the bottom of the path the sign for Ojstrica mountain (if you are physically fit you can also go to “her neighbour” Osojnica, the walk is more demanding and you have extra 10-20 min of walk). In case you will need some extra information, you are always welcome at the Altitude Activities office, where the friendly worker will be super keen to help you and show you the easiest and the most pleasant way how to reach this point. • ADDED VALUE FOR MORNING PERSONS? This place is highly recommended to visit early in the morning, you will be able to see super picturesque sunrises.
⬇ A FEW THINGS before you are fully ready to go for this climb;
- hiking shoes are highly recommended: on the path you have a lot of slippery roots and steep gravel
- make sure that you don’t have any serious medical issue which might deteriorate your current condition
- especially in hot summer days, it is a good idea to have a drink with you
-plan your trip 1 day in advance (check the weather forecast; Sonček app is quite useful, even though it is in Slovenian language, but it is simple to figure out how to check the weather prognosis), if you will pass our agency at Ljubljanska cesta 1, we will provide FREE maps of Lake Bled and surroundings.

Rowing Lake Bled + exploring Vintgar Gorge | Slovenia
Lake Bled has long been on our bucket lists so we were so excited to visit! We quickly decided we had to hire a row boat to get out to the lake (although we balked at the cost!). After the lake we visited Cafe Belvedere to try the famous Bled cream cake. The cafe was a bit of a trek from the lake and was an unassuming building (we almost walked right past it!) but the view was absolutely worth it. And that cake!
We still had some time left in the day as we'd got to Lake Bled first thing, so we drove to Vintgar Gorge and explored that too. It was a beautiful (and fairly easy) walk that twisted and turned through a fascinating gorge.

Kanjon Vintgar (Bled, Slovenija) - mistična ljepota prirode i život na dnu kanjona
Kanjon Vintgar nalazi se samo par kilometara od poznatog jezera Bled i jedna je od najposjećenijih atrakcija na bledskom području. Dug je nešto više od 1,5 kilometara, a kroz njega teče rijeka Radovna. Vintgar završava vodopadom Šum, najvišim riječnim vodopadom u Sloveniji. Nažalost, tijekom našeg posjeta nije bilo previše vode, pa ni Šum nije bio u svom najveličanstvenijem izdanju.
Vintgar je sličan kanjonu Kamačnik i Vražjem prolazu, mjestima koja se nalaze u Gorskom kotaru, a koja smo često posjećivali tijekom studentskih dana. Iznad Vintgara prolazi most Bohinjske željeznice, najveći kameni most koji je u cjelosti sačuvan.
Vintgar je dugo vremena bio nedostupan turistima i prvi je kanjon u Sloveniji koji je prilagođen za ovu vrstu obilazaka.
