We took a FIRST CLASS overnight TRAIN from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang (Vietnam)
All board! We’re heading north in Vietnam to Hoi An and to get there we decided to trade what would be a 1.5 hour flight for a 17 hour overnight train!
We booked a first class 2x cabin on Vietnam Railways and let’s just say, it was an experience.

The adventures I got up to while backpacking in Vietnam. I flew in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) spent 3 days there, Flew to Da Nang stayed a day there, then drove to Hoi An for a day. From there I flew to Hanoi, spent 2 days there and then took a 3 day tour to Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba island.

As we were on a 3000 km long road trip starting from north of Vietnam, moving to South and then entering into Cambodia by road. Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country on the South China Sea known for its beaches, rivers, Buddhist pagodas and bustling cities. We went on a road trip starting from North of Vietnam at Hanoi and ending at Ho Chi Minh City in South of Vietnam by local trains, buses and car. This was really an exciting adventurous trip of mine, where we covered almost all major cities in Vietnam in just 8 days without taking any internal flights. The cities we covered in order are: Hanoi, Halong Bay, DaNang, Hoi An (UNESCO Heritage site), Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi tunnel, Mekong Delta.
