Venice is one of the world's most beautiful cities. It is made up of over a hundred islands in a lagoon in the northern Adriatic Sea. Venice is a cultural and tourist destination known for its museums, architecture, cityscape, and art world.
Only around one-fourth of Venice's 280 000 inhabitants live in the city's historical center. The remainder reside on the mainland. Boats that travel up and down the city's many canals are the primary mode of transportation between the islands. The Canale Grande, which runs through the heart of Venice, is the main waterway. The islands are linked by hundreds of bridges. Motorboats have largely replaced the historic gondolas, which are now only used for sightseeing tours. People either walk or take so-called waterbuses to get around the islands.
The Piazza San Marco, also known as Saint Mark's Square, is the heart of Venice. The piazza's main attractions are the city's most famous church, San Marco Basilica, and the Doge's Palace, which served as the residence of Venice's rulers for hundreds of years. The square is a popular tourist destination that is surrounded by cafes and vendors.
Lido, a 10-kilometer-long sandy island east of the historic center on the lagoon's rim, attracts thousands of beachgoers during the summer months. The Venice Film Festival is one of the city's major annual film events.
Venice has faced numerous challenges as a result of its sea-level location and global warming. The Mediterranean town has been regularly flooded by incoming tides over the centuries.
From November to February, they cause acqua alta, which causes sea levels to rise up to 1.5 meters and cover many of Venice's famous areas. To provide pedestrians with a path to walk, wooden walkways must be built. Many buildings' foundations have been damaged by seawater, necessitating ongoing repairs. Water seeps into the buildings, destroying the walls and the priceless frescoes. Industries and tourism have steadily reduced ground water levels in Venice, making building foundations unstable.
The islands are sinking at an alarming rate of 3 to 4 mm per year. City planners are working on building a series of steel gates that will hopefully prevent seawater from entering the lagoon.

Venice, Italy Full Walking Tour (4K Ultra HD, 60fps) with Natural City Sounds
Welcome to Venice, Italy, the city on the water. In this walking tour of Venice, we are visiting the most popular tourist attractions this city has to offer.
Venice is the capital of northern Italy’s region called Veneto, and one of the most popular travel destinations for millions of people.
The city itself is actually built on more than 100 small islands, located in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea.
There are no roads in Venice, only canals. So all transportation is done on water, in boats. The most important canal is the Grand Canal thoroughfare, which is lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces.
The main square is Piazza San Marco, home to the beautiful St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, as well as the Campanile bell tower. A short trip on the elevator to the top offers tourists amazing views of the whole city with its plethora of red roofs.
In this 4k walking tour of Venice, Italy we explore the whole city (well, almost), and visit the most beautiful landmarks, churches and piazzas spread throughout Venice.We start near Piazzale Roma where we can see the Constitution bridge, the newest bridge across the grand canal.
From there we head into the city, and walk through the narrow streets and small canals, making our way through the crowds. We visit some amazing chiesas (churches), and schools, and we immerse ourselves into the ambiance of Venezia completely.
Of course we check out the famous Rialto Bridge, and Piazza San Marco with the beautiful Basilica. And we end our tour near the Victor Emanuelle II monument.

Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and is situated on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Venice is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, seeing between 26 million and 30 million visitors per year.
Our guided walking tour is about 7.45 miles (12 km) long, starts at Constitution Bridge and covers most attractions and historic sites of Venice.

Venice is one of the world's most beautiful cities. It is made up of over a hundred islands in a lagoon in the northern Adriatic Sea. Venice is a cultural and tourist destination known for its museums, architecture, cityscape, and art world.
Only around one-fourth of Venice's 280 000 inhabitants live in the city's historical center. The remainder reside on the mainland. Boats that travel up and down the city's many canals are the primary mode of transportation between the islands. The Canale Grande, which runs through the heart of Venice, is the main waterway. The islands are linked by hundreds of bridges. Motorboats have largely replaced the historic gondolas, which are now only used for sightseeing tours. People either walk or take so-called waterbuses to get around the islands.
The Piazza San Marco, also known as Saint Mark's Square, is the heart of Venice. The piazza's main attractions are the city's most famous church, San Marco Basilica, and the Doge's Palace, which served as the residence of Venice's rulers for hundreds of years. The square is a popular tourist destination that is surrounded by cafes and vendors.
Lido, a 10-kilometer-long sandy island east of the historic center on the lagoon's rim, attracts thousands of beachgoers during the summer months. The Venice Film Festival is one of the city's major annual film events.
Venice has faced numerous challenges as a result of its sea-level location and global warming. The Mediterranean town has been regularly flooded by incoming tides over the centuries.
From November to February, they cause acqua alta, which causes sea levels to rise up to 1.5 meters and cover many of Venice's famous areas. To provide pedestrians with a path to walk, wooden walkways must be built. Many buildings' foundations have been damaged by seawater, necessitating ongoing repairs. Water seeps into the buildings, destroying the walls and the priceless frescoes. Industries and tourism have steadily reduced ground water levels in Venice, making building foundations unstable.
The islands are sinking at an alarming rate of 3 to 4 mm per year. City planners are working on building a series of steel gates that will hopefully prevent seawater from entering the lagoon.
