Venice Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

The Italian city of Venice is a city like no other, rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon. Follow us through the historic streets – and canals – and see why Venice should be firmly on your bucket list!

When ready, browse vacation packages to Venice:

Begin your #Venice #vacation in the central district of San Marco. Journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand Canal. Glide past elegant palazzos; today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries.

Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to discover. The Accademia Bridge offers some of the Grand Canal’s finest views. The oldest of the Grand Canal’s four crossings is the Rialto Bridge, which serves as the gateway to the Rialto Markets. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison.

Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Just remember, this city smiles upon those who linger. So stay for a few nights, or #explore for a month, and savor every moment she has to offer.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Venice: City of Dreams

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | After sorting through the monuments of Venice's powerful past, we'll trace its decline from Europe's most powerful city to its most hedonistic one. We'll cruise the Grand Canal, luxuriate in a venerable café, and savor fresh fish canal-side with Venetian friends. Becoming as anonymous as possible in this city of masks, we'll be dazzled by masterpieces of the Venetian Renaissance and get intimate with the city of Casanova...on a gondola in the moonlight. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #venice

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.

After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

Visit Venice - The Don'ts of Visiting Venice, Italy

From Overpriced Gondola Rides to Slippery Streets to Overpriced and Underwhelming Tourist Restaurants this Video Covers What You Shouldn't Do When you Go to Venice, Italy.
Italy is an amazing city, well worth visiting and exploring, but there are a few things tourists and travelers should avoid or not do when they come to Venezia, Italia.
Don't - bring too much luggage, having to lug it over all of those bridges and down long streets is not a fun thing to do,
Don't - be surprised if the locals have different lines than the tourists
Don't - pay for a toilet, go get a Spritz or a Coffee instead. You have to pay for something make it a treat, not a toilet.
Don-t - expect a cheap gondola ride. they are a bit pricey and you will need to pay more to get him to sing.
Don't - forget to explore outside the main island of Venice. There are great places to visit around Venice like the Murano glass factories or farther afield in Padova and Vicenza.
Don't - be surprised if you have walk on risers occasionally when the city floods.
Don't - wear skimpy clothes if you are hoping to get into Basilica San Marco.
There are a lot more don'ts of visiting Venice, but why don't you watch and learn more!

Our Equipment

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Venice Italy: Top 7 Things to Do in 2024

Venice, Italy, a city of unparalleled beauty and history, stands as a testament to human ingenuity and artistry. Built on over 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, it has no roads, only canals, including the grand Canal Grande, flanked by Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, houses the magnificent Basilica di San Marco, filled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city's red roofs. Venice is renowned for its architecture, artwork, and unique waterways, making it a romantic and enchanting destination that seems suspended between the past and present.

3 reasons why you should plan your Venice trip in May! ⬇️ #5_star_family_adventures #travelfamily

3 reasons why you should plan your Venice trip in May!
1. The weather is beautiful. Temperatures of around 21°C (70°F) are perfect for wandering about the city before the summer heat kicks in.
2. Beat the crowds. May is a good time to explore some other islands and cities in Veneto before they’re completely overwhelmed.
3. Cheaper! Prices in May are still more affordable than in the summer.
