camper van security #mdvr #campervan #vanlife #vanbuild #tinyhouse #tinyhome #security

My home has a security system so my tiny home will have one too. In this video i am showing how a cheap mobile digital video recorder with 4 cameras can give you a 360 degree view around the outside of your van without ever leaving the van or looking out the windows. I walk up to each door and open them, i then go back and look into every window. At night, there is infrared red light that still allows the cameras to work. This is perfect system to have when boondocking or sleeping in a public area or even to help protect your tiny home from theft while you are away enjoying hiking or site seeing. The greatest thing about this security system is I have it wired direct into a 5 gang switch which is wired to the house battery. Its been running non-stop recording in my driveway for 5 days and the battery is still at 14.2 volts with the monitor on too. The van, as you can tell in this video, is sitting in a shaded area that only gets sun on the solar panels about an hour a day. The van hasn't been started to recharge it off the alternator during this time. This means the mdvr, monitor, and cameras use very low electricity and you can keep it on 24/7 if you would like. This makes it great also if you are ever in an accident, you would record all of it start to finish. It records to 2 x SD cards and I currently have 2 x 256G cards installed. There is a door that covers the cards that locks and takes a key to unlock it so even if the vehicle was broken into, it would be difficult to steal the security footage. These were originally designed to be used on tractor trailers, you know, those huge trucks on the interstate. The kits come with everything you need and it took me about an hour to hook it all up once I decided on the camera locations. It records front, rear, and both sides giving me a 360 degree view around the outside of my van in day or night.

I bought the most basic model offered. It doesn't have built in gps, wifi, or cellular connection. They have models that have various combinations of those. If you get a model with wifi, that allows you to connect to the digital video recorder to view recordings using a laptop, tablet, or cell phone over wifi. If you get a model that has cellular connection, that allows you to view video in real time away from your vehicle. In some ways I wish I got the cellular model but to be honest, my home security has this feature and i never use it. Lets face it, if the vehicle gets broken into while I am out hiking ... I don't want that to take away from enjoying my hike and i don't want to have to rely on a cell phone or other technology when I am away from the van .... isn't that one of the big reasons we do this to begin with?

Here are the amazon links to the device I have and some of the other models. I am not affiliated with the company in any way, this is not a paid promotion, however, I will earn a small income if you buy this device using these links (it does not change the price you pay for the device but does help to support my channel)

Episode #47 My Haloview Four Camera Setup on my 2018 Ford Transit 250

I show you where the four Haloview cameras are mounted and take a drive to see them in action. A separate installation video will be uploaded this week.

We are converting a 2018 Ford Transit 250 - medium roof - 148' long wheelbase. No standard plumbing that needs to be winterized, but will include a bathroom with shower, kitchen, living space/bedroom. And I am wiring it for both shore power and a lithium-based system all powered by Ecoflow lithium battery packs - Delta 1300's, River Max and River Pro with extra smart battery.

NuCam Wifi Dash Camera with Accident Sensor | Product Review | Video Record Every Time You Drive

NuCam Wifi Dash Camera | Product Review | Video Record Every Time You Drive with the NuCam Wifi Dash Camera. Record accidents and/or your roadtrip travels with this wide-angle (160 degree) high-definition 1296P windshield mounted video camera.

NuCam Wifi Dash Camera:
NuCharger Battery Pack Power Bank:

*In the video its mentioned as a 2K camera, but it does not record a full 2K but higher than 1080.

The NuCam Wifi Dash Camera has a compact size and comes with a suction cup mount to mount to your windshield. It can rotate 360 degrees to get the best view out any window, including Jeeps.
It records every time it's power comes on. It comes with a 12-ft auxillary cable that plugs into the aux plug in your vehicle. It also comes with a 32GB card that can record around 8 hours of footage before loop recording over previous files.
It has a G sensor that can sense impact events such as accidents and stores those files in a separate folder on the memory card so they are not written over.
It does not have it's own battery source, but can be used in conjunction with a battery pack (such as this NuCharger to double as an action camera or convenient vlog camera.
Why would you want a dash cam? To record anything that happens on the road including fender benders, accidents, and the events leading up to those. The camera has a built in microphone to record audio as well. Another version of this camera has dual lenses so you can record video of what's going on in the vehicle as well. (Nucam Dual Lens Dash Cam:
For travelers, it is also convenient to record where you go! Whether it is a drive through the desert, the mountains, or the famous Highway 1, you'll have wide angle HD footage captured.

Best Van Conversion AWARDS 2020 - The GHOST Awards

I know I missed a bunch of vans that are out there. I'm sure there are fantastic van builds. But again, these are most of the ones I know and have seen in person and from my travels and what I've seen it's more important to see a van in person to know it's true quality because anyone can make a build Instagram worthy. There's so much more then looks and it's function and looks put together into a build.

Motorhome Monday's #50 - Weekly Recycling!?!

You know what day it is!
This week I answer the following questions:

- I was thinking of buying a luton to convert just wanted to ask, how do you find it getting around with your size van
- I was wondering if you have to shop more for groceries due to the storage on your motorhome? Do you think that you have to plan food etc a bit better than us house dwellers?
- Have you ridden that bike yet? and can we have a video of you riding it please?
- My question is would you buy a new Gopro hero 9 black or a Dji Pocket 2 for your camera work?
- Did you order your ‘I drift for boobies’ sticker yet?
- What do you do with your weekly recycling?
- I want to install cctv in my motorhome and you said yours is standard household cctv system, which you put a link up from eBay. My question is do you use your inverter to power it? If not, how do you connect it to your 12v system?

Do you have a question for Motorhome Monday’s?
Drop it in the comments below, email me at darran@theurbanmotorhome.com or send me a message via Instagram
