Beautiful Lake Atitlán, Guatemala | Travel Video

Lake Atitlán is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Nestled between three volcanos that loom over the entire landscape. Wandering through villages around Lake Atitlán is a privilege I savor, exploring beauty in every form. Spending time with people who are actually living on next to nothing but are happy, is a breath of fresh air. Can't forget the mayan people's colorful clothes that they make themselves, their traditional way of life of farming, their local markets and the art they create. All are like stepping back in time before our modern world.

Music: Cartoon, Jai Wolf - Indian Summer

Video location: Panajachel, San Marcos, San Pedro, Sololá, Chimaltenango, Antigua, Rio Dulce, Livingston, Puerto Barrios, Morales, Lanquín (Semuc Champey), Cobán, San Juan Chamelco, Guatemala City

CENTRAL AMERICA BACKPACKING TRIP | Ep2: Belize & Guatemala

I went solo backpacking around Central America for 6 weeks, travelling through Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.

This 3 part documentary series shows the entire backpacking experience.

In this second video I head inland through Belize to San Ignacio, exploring the Caracol ruins by jeep. Then I crossed the border into Guatemala, staying in the beautiful town of Flores to visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal.

Next stop was the beautiful Semuc Champey, stunning waterfalls in the jungle-filled mountains. I stayed at the Zephyr Lodge in Lanquin which was a fun but dangerous place for your bank account.

GUATEMALA | BACKPACKING TRIP 2019 ????????

Guatemala was our first country of our backpacking trip through Central America for four months. We've visited Antigua, hiked up the Acatenango vulcano, visited Lake Atitlan, learned spanish in Xela, went to Semuc Champey, Flores, Tikal and Rio Dulce. Guatemala is one of my favorite countries of Central America, the nature is beautiful!! And the hike to the Acatenango vulcano is still the best thing I've done in these four months. So if you're gonna visit Guatamala, this is a must do! We did it with the company Wicho & Charlies, a big recommendation!

1 Week in Guatemala | Volunteers Around the World - Yale Chapter

Hi all,

For my Spring Break, I traveled to Guatemala with Yale’s chapter of Volunteers Around the World. For about a week, we lived in home-stays in the quaint town of San Pedro La Laguna, a site on the coast of the majestic Lake Atitlán. We volunteered in a mobile medical clinic, traveling to various destinations around the lake each day and providing free consultations and medications to residents in the areas in partnership with several Guatemalan doctors. This region is one of the poorest in Guatemala. Most of the natives were Mayan and many still spoke Tz'utujil along with Spanish.

After our mission had concluded, I took a bus to Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage town and former capital of Guatemala, and did some solo traveling before flying back to the States.

Not only did I recover much of the Spanish I had first learned back in high school, I was able to be inspired by a resilient demographic of people undeterred by poverty and uncertainty in their lives. I wanted to take this time to thank those who accompanied me on this humbling and breathtaking trip of a lifetime. It has been a true privilege working alongside all of them.

Much love,
Wes
