Two years ago, Eamon and I decided to forgo yet another apartment lease to buy a used 2008 Mercedes Sprinter Van that we would convert to our tiny home on wheels. Our DIY project allowed us to customize our build to meet our specific needs and we could not be happier. This is how you live #VanLife in simplified style!
Since then we have driven across most of North America and made this van our full time HOME. As we prepare for Van Life in Europe we want to update our van to include some basic comforts we've been missing out on!
We did our best to create a quick video that includes all pieces of our van conversion to a camper. It is a video we wish we could've watched before jumping into building our home on wheels.

After a long 30 days of this Sprinter Van Conversion project we are FINALLY moving on from what we like to call Phase 1 which is all about laying the foundations of the tiny home. So, with electrical wiring, strapping, insulation and sound deadening behind us we are ready to move onto the esthetic stage of the van life build. This week the goal is to get all walls and ceiling panels up AND to lay our floor. Can we do it all in just a few short days?!?

How Did We Get Here?
After an incredible 3 years of living, working, and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we made the very tough decision to abandon it in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. Halting our dream of driving around the world was a hard pill to swallow which is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto. Enter building an off-grid tiny house on wheels!! This is going to be our 3rd time converting an empty cargo van into a campervan and we are both excited and nervous to take on this project. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID VAN ????

After an incredible 3 years of living, working and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we’ve had to make the very tough decision to abandon our tiny home in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. The gravity of what we’ve done is STILL sinking in and we ((especially me (Bec)) are having a really hard time adjusting to our new reality. This is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + enter... OUR NEW SPRINTER VAN! We are looking forward to taking everything we've learned after 3 years of van life and applying it to this self build. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID CAMPERVAN ????
Today we finalize the design of our tiny house and can't wait to hear your feedback! With only 86 sq-ft we are doing our best to maximize a layout that includes a toilet, shower, fixed bed (with garage space), full kitchen, seating area and more! Can we do it?!?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

Hi Everyone ???? We're Eamon and Bec. In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods. We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. Our return to van life is in the near future but before we fly to Morocco we wanted to have a little fun with Kara & Nate.

Spray foaming still isn't the go to for every custom van build...but why? We'll share what we learned about the benefits of spray foam and why we went with this process to insulate our van this time around.
How Did We Get Here?
After an incredible 3 years of living, working, and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we made the very tough decision to abandon it in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. Halting our dream of driving around the world was a hard pill to swallow which is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto. Enter building an off-grid tiny house on wheels!! This is going to be our 3rd time converting an empty cargo van into a campervan and we are both excited and nervous to take on this project. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID VAN ????

Eamon & I have spent the last two years living, working and traveling in our 60 square foot camper van. Over the last month and a half we’ve give our home on wheels the makeover she truly deserves by upgrading our battery bank, fridge and even installing a toilet! With our tiny house renovations complete it’s time to move all of our belongings back into the van and gear up for our next big adventure.
Today our journey to van life in Europe begins with a 17 hour road trip from Toronto, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our van will be boarding a ship on Monday to sail across the Atlantic Ocean to meet us in England!!

Today's van life vlog takes place in Baja California Sur where we wake in our self converted Sprinter Van in Los Barriles and take you along for a day in the life! Having been here for the last 6 days, we've established a little bit of a van life routine: where we fill up our water, where we go grocery shopping and how we find free beachfront camping!!
We have loved living in a van (self converted sprinter van) for the last year and a half and while we enjoy spending time in Canada it can get a little cold throughout the winter. So, we've decided to hit the road and drive across the continent to enjoy some warmer weather in Baja Mexico. If our last trip to this country taught us anything... it's to expect the unexpected!!

One year ago, Eamon and I decided to forgo yet another apartment lease to buy a used 2008 Mercedes Sprinter Van that we would convert to our tiny home on wheels. Our DIY project allowed us to customize our build to meet our specific needs and we could not be happier. After an incredible 3 years of living, working and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we’ve had to make the very tough decision to abandon our tiny home in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. What went from a virus that seemed far away in China, quickly made it’s way across the globe forcing us to quarantine in our 60 sq-ft in Morocco. And while quarantining was going well for us it became apparent that things would be different for a long while. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. The gravity of what we’ve done is sinking in and we ((especially me (Bec)) are having a really hard time adjusting to our new reality. This is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto so we called up our buddy Russel who sells used Sprinter Vans and asked if had anything for sale that would work for a new Sprinter Van Conversion.
This is going to be our 3rd time converting an empty cargo van into a tiny home on wheels and we are both excited and nervous to take on this project. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID CAMPERVAN ????

This week we begin our van life road trip through a country we have been both excited and nervous to visit -- SPAIN! Our love for the Spanish language, the amazing culture & history and Eamon's zest for kiteboarding have all made Spain a top priority on our European adventures. However, many vanlifers have shared their break-in stories with us and it's left us a little on edge to leave our tiny house on wheels anywhere unsupervised to explore the cities/towns. But, as we always say it's important to experience everything for yourself so we jump into our Spanish adventures head first ❤️.
Join us as we spend a day driving from Lisbon, Portugal to Madrid, Spain and stop to spend some time exploring the capital city. Now that our van is insulated, wired, framed and painted we are moving forward with the challenging task of building out our van life kitchen. We begin the week with receiving our beautiful walnut countertops, install our sink and stove and build a few drawers for under the main counter. We then move on to tiling our van and we have to say that the van's really started to feel like a home!

How Did We Get Here?
Abandoning our Van in Africa
After an incredible 3 years of living, working, and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we made the very tough decision to abandon it in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. Halting our dream of driving around the world was a hard pill to swallow which is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto. Enter building an off-grid tiny house on wheels!! This is going to be our 3rd time converting an empty cargo van into a campervan and we are both excited and nervous to take on this project. We want this build to be the ULTIMATE OFF-GRID VAN ????

After a long 11 weeks of this Sprinter Van Conversion project, we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and putting the finishing touches on our tiny house's interior. Now that our van is insulated, wired, framed and painted we are moving forward with the challenging task of building the cabinet faces and finishing the trim work around the kitchen and pantry area. And with only 1 more week left in our AirBnB it's crunch time to get this 82 sq-ft home in a liveable, working condition!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016.
