Khiva to Urgench
Trolleybus: An interesting (and cheap) way to get from Khiva to Urgench is via the trolleybus. At 400 sum, it's a bargain and it allows you to see the countryside at a snail's pace. It leaves in front of the northern gate of the Ichon-Kala. Trolleybusses leave Khiva every 30 minutes during daytime and the journey takes about 60 minutes. They will drop you near the Urgench Bazaar

Uzbekistan:
Uzbekistan is within the South-Central Asian Union and has borders with other member states of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. It is doubly landlocked, but includes the southern shoreline of the Aral Sea.
Geography

Uzbekistan measures 1450 km West to East and 930 km North to South.

Mostly flat-to-rolling sandy desert with dunes; broad, flat intensely irrigated river valleys along course of Amu Darya, Syr Darya (Sirdaryo) and Zarafshon; Ferghana Valley in east surrounded by mountainous Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan; shrinking Aral Sea in west.
Syr Darya crosses the Ferghana Valley and runs on the North East edge of the Kizil Kum Desert. It is 2212 km long (3019 km including its source Naryn). In antiquity, it was called Jaxartes. Syr Darya flows into the (smaller) Northern part of the Aral Sea.
Amu Darya rises in the Hindukush and has a length of 2540 km. It was called Oxus in antiquity. It can be a rapid river in spring and is called Dsaihun (suffering from rabies) in Arabic. The river has changed its course several times. Konye Urgench in Turkmenistan, the capital of the old empire of Chwarezm, was situated on the banks of the Amu Darya. Today the distance between the river and the old city is about 40 km. Amu Darya flows into the (bigger) Southern part of the Aral Sea.

Uzbekistan -Tashkent - Khiva - Bukhara - Samarkand

Great Silk Roads uniting East and West passed through the territory of present-day Uzbekistan, which was one of the places, where the first civilizations emerged and developed. Uzbekistan is famous for its Silk Route cities of Bukhara, Khiva, and Samarkand.

Uzbekistan 2019 - Tashkent to Urgench and onto Khiva. Including the International Festival of Dance

An early morning flight from Tashkent to Urgench then onward to Khiva. This fascinating 2,500 year old city is one of the oldest on the Silk Road. With walls up to 9m thick and 20m high it is a formidable sight. The minarets and madrassa's will impress anyone. We climbed the 120 steps (which wasn't too difficult) to enjoy the panorama from the top of Islam Khoja. The Mausoleum of Pakhlavan Mahmoud was very impressive with incredibly detailed decoration. As it happened, we arrived on the second day of the International Festival Raqs Sehri, Magic of Dance a very colourful event.

Khiva, Uzbekistan: THIS WHOLE CITY IS A MUSEUM!

In this Uzbekistan travel vlog, we explored the ancient city of Khiva, located deep in the deserts of central Asia and long known to be one of the oldest cities in the world to still exist as it did millennia ago!

This Entire City Is An OUTDOOR MUSEUM - Khiva Uzbekistan

In this Uzbekistan travel vlog, I take you with me as I explore the beautiful Silk Road city in Central Asia of Khiva Uzbekistan. Khiva Uzbekistan is commonly referred to as an open air museum as the old city of Khiva, Uzbekistan is home to tons of beautiful, historic structures and monuments that have been well preserved over time.

To start off my Central Asia travel vlog in Khiva Uzbekistan I step back in time to Itchan Kala, the old city of Khiva. Khiva’s old city is where most of the main attractions are and is where you will want to spend the majority of your time when you are traveling the Silk Road city of Kvia, Uzbekistan. My first stop in the old city of Khiva, Uzbekistan was to the Kalta Minor Minaret, which is the most iconic structure in the entire city, and one of the most iconic in all of Central Asia, and along the old Silk Road. Although construction of the Kalta Minor Minaret was never completed, it still reaches 95 feet tall. Visiting the Kalta Minor Minaret is one of the best things to do in Central Asia for sure!

Next on my Uzbekistan Travel Vlog, I walked over to the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa, which was once the largest Madrasa in all of Central Asia, with the ability to house over 260 students. Now, the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa is inactive and has been turned into a hotel where tourists in Khiva Uzbekistan can get a feeling for what it was like to live in what was once the largest Madrasa in Central Asia.

The next stop on my Central Asia travel vlog, and a top thing to do in Uzbekistan tourism, was to visit the Juma Mosque. The Juma Mosque is one of the most unique mosques I have ever visited, as it is supported by 218 wooden pillars with intricately carved designs. Visiting the Juma Mosque is a really unique thing to do during your Silk Road travel. The next place I visited in Khiva Uzbekistan in my Uzbekistan Vlog was the Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasa. What’s so special about the Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasa is that it was one of the first Madrasas to teach subjects beyond Islam, like mathematics and science.

Next on my Khiva Uzbekistan Travel Vlog, was to try local Uzbekistan Food. I ate a special dish local to Khiva Uzbekistan called Shivit Oshi. Shivit Oshi, also known as green noodles, is a noodle dish infused with dill and other spices and herbs, turning the noodles green. Despite not being a huge fan of dill, I actually enjoyed eating Shivit Oshi. Eating Shivit Oshi is a must do in Khiva Uzbekistan. After a local Uzbek meal for lunch, I went to the Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum, which is the only structure in Khiva with a beautiful blue teal dome. Pahlavan Mahmud is renowned for freeing many slaves in Khiva during the Silk Road trade. His mausoleum is extremely beautiful with incredible designs and colors.

Next on my Central Asia Vlog and Khiva Uzbekistan Vlog, I visited the tallest Minaret in Khiva called the Islam Khoja Minaret. Admiring the size and colors of the Islam Khoja Minaret is a must do in Khiva Uzbekistan. After this, I visited the old fortress in Khiva, Uzbekistan, where the old ruler used to live, called the Kunya Ark. The top of the Kunya Ark is home to an incredible view over the entire city of Khiva. After roaming around the old fortress and the streets of Khiva’s old city, I climbed the old city wall of Khiva Uzbekistan, which stretches 10 kilometers around the old city. This is another great place for beautiful views over Khiva.

I hope you enjoyed following along my adventures in Khiva, Uzbekistan. I really do think that traveling Uzbekistan offers a unique look into a beautiful culture.

Khiva is the most picturesque old city along the Silk Road. The cities old world charm remains after thousands of years. A formidable mud castle wall surrounds the settlement protecting countless heritage sites. There are old palaces, madrassahs, mosques, and minarets, all covered in bright blue tiles that contrast so well against the desert landscape. Old market streets weave through the old city taking you back in time when silk and spices ruled the world. Khiva was one of my favorite stops in Uzbekistan, and here’s how it went…

Flight from Tashkent to Khiva - Uzbekistan 4K Travel Channel

Again, the aircraft starts early in the morning just around 5 am. Our destination is Khiva, which does not have its own airport. Correctly, it should read Flight from Tashkent to Urgench, the provincial capital of Khwarezm. From there it is approximately 40 km to Khiva.
Most of the flight goes above the Kyzylkum Desert, which borders on the green settlement area around Tashkent.
Since Tashkent airport is located less than 20 km from the border of Kazakhstan, it is not surprising we fly for a short distance across the state territory of Kazakhstan. The city of Shardara, located at the reservoir of the same name and at the estuary of the Syrdaja, can be seen from the plane very well.
Generally one always imagines the desert to be empty, but in reality, it looks a little different. Again and again, mining activities in the desert are recognizable from the airplane, since the Kyzylkum is regarded as very rich in raw materials. Uzbekistan belongs to the most important gold producing countries worldwide.
In many places, the desert has a very sparse vegetation, but often enough for the breeding of goats. For thousands of years, people have been leaving their mark on the desert, as the petroglyphs found here prove.
After we flew over the desert, the green fertile valley of the Amurdarja lies below us. Many canals cross the valley and allow the rich cultivation of cotton. Some interpretations consider the Amurdarja as one of the headstreams of the Garden of Eden (Gichon).
After landing, the father of Kadam Vaisov, the head of Registon Travel, picks us up at the airport. The father is also the founder of the travel agency.
On a long straight avenue, lined with modern buildings, we traverse Urgench, past the magnificent buildings of the provincial administration , and quickly reach the city limits. Through agricultural areas, we drive to Xiva. There we recognize the historic district by the mighty city walls.
During our journey, we have chosen reasonable-priced overnight accommodations, and stay in a bed and breakfast
........
please read more:

Wieder startet das Flugzeug früh am Morgen um ca. 5 Uhr. Unser Ziel ist Xiva, das aber keinen eigenen Flughafen hat. Richtiger(B & B). As a condition, we have made, that the rooms have their own shower, which was the case for all our accommodations.

Uzbekistan:
Uzbekistan has an area of 447,400 square kilometres (172,700 sq mi). It is the 56th largest country in the world by area and the 42nd by population.[23] Among the CIS countries, it is the 4th largest by area and the 2nd largest by population.
Uzbekistan lies between latitudes 37° and 46° N, and longitudes 56° and 74° E. It stretches 1,425 kilometres (885 mi) from west to east and 930 kilometres (580 mi) from north to south. Bordering Kazakhstan and the Aral Sea to the north and northwest, Turkmenistan to the southwest, Tajikistan to the southeast, and Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Uzbekistan is one of the largest Central Asian states and the only Central Asian state to border all the other four. Uzbekistan also shares a short border (less than 150 km or 93 mi) with Afghanistan to the south.
Uzbekistan is a dry, landlocked country. It is one of two doubly landlocked countries in the world (that is, a country completely surrounded by landlocked countries), the other being Liechtenstein. In addition, due to its location within a series of endorheic basins, none of its rivers lead to the sea. Less than 10% of its territory is intensively cultivated irrigated land in river valleys and oases. The rest is vast desert (Kyzyl Kum) and mountains.
The highest point in Uzbekistan is the Khazret Sultan, at 4,643 metres (15,233 ft) above sea level, in the southern part of the Gissar Range in Surkhandarya Province, on the border with Tajikistan, just northwest of Dushanbe (formerly called Peak of the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party).
The climate in Uzbekistan is continental, with little precipitation expected annually (100–200 millimetres, or 3.9–7.9 inches). The average summer high temperature tends to be 40 °C (104 °F), while the average winter low temperature is around −23 °C (−9 °F).

Khiva-Uzbekistan
Though Khiva is about 2500 years old, it acquired its present appearance in the 18th – early 20th centuries. Khiva consists of two urban parts: the inner town Ichan-Kala and the outer town Dishan-Kala. From the very beginning the core of the city –Ichan-Kala, rectangular in plan, was enclosed in fortification walls.
For centuries these walls served ideally the purpose of the town’s defense. But in 1220 they were destroyed by Mongol invaders and in later period gentle slopes of the collapsed walls were used for burying the dead. In 1790 the wall was rebuilt by order of Khiva’s khan Muhammad-Amin-Inak. It was 1200 meters long, 7-8 meters high and about 6 meters thick at the base. Since Khiva stood at an important intersection of the Great Silk Road, there were built four monumental gates directing north, south, east and west. Ark-Darvoza gate located next to Kunya-Ark Citadel let in the caravans from the west. Kosh-Darvoza (‘Double Gate’) with two entrance arches faced south. Tash-Darvoza (‘Stone Gate) was built in the northern part of the city.
The most remarkable is the eastern gate Palvan-Darvoza (‘Hero Warrior’s Gate’), through which ran the road to the Amu Darya River and to the ancient trade town Khazarasp. The survived marble slab above the arch of the gate shows the date the construction was completed: 1221 anno hegirae (1806). Adjoining the gate is the gallery with six domes – a shopping arcade. Soon after the gate had been built, near it there appeared Allakuli-Khan Madrassah, caravanserai and a tim domed trading center. This was also the place where executions used to be carried out. Next to the gate, behind the Ichan-Kala walls, there was the Asian largest slave market. In 1842 a new fortification wall around larger area was built. Supervised by Mahammad Yakub Mekhtar, the construction was completed within 30 days. The wall was 6 kilometers long; it had 10 gates and a lot of turrets. Three out-of-town gardens – Rafanik, Nurullabay and Nurullabek – became part of the town. The larger ring of the town was then called Dishan-Kala (‘Outer Fortress’). Today only separate parts of this unique fortification structure remain. Yet these strong pahsa adobe walls narrowing to the top, are rather impressive. Every 30-50 meters along the length of the wall there are semicircular watching turrets; they seem to support the wall with their abutments. Looking at Khiva’s walls it is hard to believe that outside this well-preserved medieval town is the 21st century.

Tashkent - The Capital of Uzbekistan
The main city of Uzbekistan is a huge metropolis with a population of over 3 million people. The city is lined with a grid of straight and wide streets and avenues, decorated with emerald green parks, gardens, fountains imbued with crystal strands...

This wonderful city is a real embodiment of the modern elegance that is inherent in many world capitals. At the same time it remains to be an oriental city. Tashkent has its own unique flavor. It combines medieval buildings as if descended from the pages of old oriental tales, elegant European architecture from the period of the Turkestan governor-generalship, standard concrete boxes of the Soviet era and, finally, glittering skyscrapers of glass and concrete (modern business centers and banks).
Tashkent, Uzbekistan -Tashkent Restaurants and Cafes
Tashkent cafes and restaurants present delicious national Uzbek as well as European, Middle Eastern and Russian cuisines.

Old part of the city is the center of traditional local cuisine in Tashkent. Between Kukeldash Madrassah and Chorsu bazaar you may find a great number of chaykhanas (café terrace with ayvans), cafes and eating houses, where you can snack a kebab, shaurma, Uzbek somsa and etc. Also you can try national dishes in family-run Uzbek houses. Close to the Yunus-Obod tennis court there is the huge Pilaf center (Osh Markazi), where you may taste delicious wedding Tashkent pilaf.

Tashkent restaurants amaze with European service level and food quality. You will be surprised with wide range of restaurants with Chinese, Italian, English, Japanese, Spanish and other cuisine. Whatever restaurant you choose for any lunch, dinner or meeting, you will enjoy not only tasty dishes but also the stylish interior, food presentation and perfect service.
