Uzbekistan (Asia) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is a country with thousands of years of history and contains all the magic of the Silk Road, as well as numerous oriental fairy tales, along with traditional culture, Islamic history and fascinating desert landscapes. Tashkent is the city of Amir Timur, the riding general who established a dynasty. It is a city on the ancient Silk Road, famous in both orient and occident, and having inspired both scholars and poets, plus craftsmen and artists. Modern Tashkent contains wide boulevards and plenty of lush greenery. White storks that symbolize fertility crown the large entrance arcades to the Place Of Independence. Samarqand was the centre of one of the oldest forms of state in Middle Asia, and was located on the Silk Road. Newly introduced Timurid style further enriched the architecture. Coloured mosaics of astounding luminosity compete with glazed relief ceramics whose ornamentation is composed of arabesques, font characters and geometrical shapes. Samarqand Bazaar now has a new, modern appearance and the variety of goods on offer has never been better with fresh fruit, vegetables, honey and cheese. The ‘Wild West’ of Uzbekistan is a wonderful region of deserts with just a few yurt camps for overnight accommodation. Qirk Qiz Qala emerges from the middle of the flat, featureless desert. Almost mystically, the final sharp fragments of the castle’s former defensive towers emerge from the ground which consist mainly of gravel and are covered with low saxaul bushes that defy the desert’s strong winds with their deep-reaching roots. The oasis city of Khiva is one of the greatest centres of ancient Korezm, ‘Land of the sun’, and was where mathematician Mohammed, who discovered algebra, once lived. Almost fifteen hundred years of oriental culture are hidden within the intriguing winding streets of this fine oasis city. Uzbekistan has always been at the intersection of major trade and cultural routes and a border between Asia and Europe, between nomads and the Western world. Exoticism mixed with all the magic of the One Thousand And One Nights!

The Heart Of The Ancient Silkroad (Uzbekistan) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about The Heart Of The Ancient Silkroad in Uzbekistan.
Today's Uzbekistan is referred to as the golden heart of the Ancient Silk Road, a legendary trade route that once linked China with Europe and, at the same time, the centres of Islamic civilization. The capital, Tashkent, was growing too and the city was famous in both Orient and Occident for its scholars, poets and artisans and even today its inhabitants are proud of their legacy which is a combination of Oriental, Russian and Soviet times. Samarqand became integrated within the Persian Empire, was later conquered by Alexander The Great and, in the fourteenth century, became the centre of the World Empire of Amir Timur. Newly introduced Timurid Design further enriched the architecture. Further west, the caravans reached the oasis city of Bukhara, ‘God's blessed city’, on the border of the Kyzylkum Desert. In the Middle Ages it was one of the most important religious and economic centres of the Islamic world. On the outskirt of the ancient town of Chor Minor is the madrasah of the Four Minarets. All sorts of conventional crafts have been handed down and are still used today. Bukharan rag dolls continue to be manufactured and offered for sale. Returning to the centre, there is a synagogue. In the middle of the nineteenth century, five hundred Jews lived in Chor Minor and beneath the domes of ancient bazaars, trade still continues today. Khiva is one of the greatest centres of ancient Korezm, ‘Land of the sun’, in the west of today’s Uzbekistan, an oriental city in which its greatest minaret, Kalta-Minar, remains unfinished. Ko´Hna Ark, fortress of the Khan, is situated within the city walls. The condemned had to wait for their execution at its entrance. The ancient Silk Road eventually became a tourist route. But the magic of its oriental beauty has survived and its historic monuments enchant even today with the magic of a Thousand and One Nights and all of the eternal charm of the Orient!

Iran (Asia) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Iran.
Iran, formerly known as Persia, is a land of magical splendour, ancient architecture and Oriental hospitality. Tehran has been the capital of the Persian Empire since 1795. Founded by Mohammed Aga Khan it is a vibrant place that ranks among the most densely populated cities on Earth. Its biggest transformation in its recent history was due to religious leader, Ayatollah Khomeyni, who in 1979 established the Iranian Republic, a theocracy within the teachings of the Koran. The Saad-Abad Palace complex was the first summer residence of the Qadjarian kings. Following several extensions, from the 1920’s eighteen palaces were used by Reza Shah Pahlevi and his family. The city of Kashan prospered under the Safavid, Shah Abbas The First, who designed the Bagh-E-Fin Garden according to a model of a Persian paradise garden. Outside the city, the settlement mound of Tepe Sialk uncovered finds that can be traced back to the seventh millennium B.C. At the time of Shah Abbas, Kashan was fortified with a double city wall that contained more than six thousand buildings, plus forty mosques and three Koran schools. The Koran Gate leads to the city of Shiraz, a city of love, roses and poetry. Famous Persian poets once lived here and created works of great beauty. Today their mausoleums are visited with much reverence, such as the Hafiz Tomb. For fifty eight years, Ionic stonemasons, Babylonian brick makers, Median and Egyptian goldsmiths, worked in Persepolis, they created what was an indelible symbol of the Achaemenid Empire. The highest level contained the royal residences with living rooms, a fire temple and harem. Iran is still a land of desert, palaces and mosques, a country that is timeless, captivating and historic.

Myanmar (Asia) Vacation Travel Video Guide

✱ 1.549 Hotels in Myanmar - Lowest Price Guarantee ►

Travel video about destination Myanmar.
Myanmar is a land of golden pagodas in which rivers, paddy fields and Buddhism dominate the lives of this country’s people who are made up of a variety of ethnic groups. But behind the bamboo curtain is a sleepy fairy tale land.Yangon is a river city and the capital of Myanmar. It is surrounded by India, China, Laos and Thailand. Few cities in Asia boast such a fascinating mêlée of tribes and cultures. A tranquil harmony of churches, pagodas, Hindu temples and mosques. The Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda contains one of the largest prone Buddha statues in the world. Its length makes up for its lack of artistry as it is seventy metres long! The Shan State Express is a sonorous name for a unique train that travels to the north of Myanmar and to the legendary kingdom of the Shan. The railroad travels in a zigzag up the mountains which enables it to negotiate severe slopes that would otherwise be impossible for it to climb vertically. It provides a fascinating insight into the culture and everyday life of the Shan people. The city of Pyin U Lwin, that is also known as Meymo, was once a British military base. Even today the city still has a certain air of nostalgia and passengers are offered various refreshments as the train journey normally takes more than twelve hours. Ox carts transport visitors to one of the most interesting buildings in Mingun, the Mingun Pagoda. It was designed to be the world’s largest pagoda. Huge numbers of workers built this seventy two metre wide and fifty metre high building. Bagan is the country’s ancient capital city. Prior to visiting the largest area of Buddhist ruins in the world visitors can enjoy both traditional puppet shows and dance. Classical myth and legend make up this theatrical treat of which each puppeteer is responsible for up to sixty strings. Any journey through Myanmar is a journey into the past and to a hidden world of dreams and mystique. This gateway to paradise is slowly opening up and revealing a splendid land of bygone times!

Persia (Asia) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Persia.
Invasions, battles and revolutions always dictated the numerous great empires which developed on Persian soil and the kingdom of Meder was the country’s first great empire, with Hamedan its capital and one of its oldest, continuously inhabited cities. Although the Achaemenid made Hamedan one of its summer residences, they also built their headquarters there, a sprawling city system in the form of a large camp. Dareios The Great began construction of Persepolis shortly after he had attained power as Third Emperor of Persia. Although he already had two capital cities, Pasargadae and Susa, he wanted to present to the world a third impressive city. During several decades of construction the glorious total work of Persian-Achaemenid art was achieved. Todays ruins, former residence of the Achaemenid Empire, are one of the greatest and most impressive palace complexes in the world. From the Middle Ages, Shiraz had a well-developed network of quantum, underground drains that continue to nourish a number of gardens. The Mongols left Shiraz undamaged but the Afghans conquered, destroyed and looted the city until finally a Kurd, Karim Khan Zand, established a trading centre there, protected by a citadel, which became the capital of his empire. After Teheran and Yazd, Kerman has the third largest community of followers of the teachings of Zarathustra, with attendant fire temples. The Ganj Ali Khan Complex has a large courtyard with a water pool and is framed by arcade passages, a mosque, caravanserai, bath house and bazaar. Shiite Islam became the state religion and several golden dynasties followed until Persia became an empire with a long and remarkable history.

Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video:

We begin this journey in Samarkand, one of the most iconic cities along the ancient Silk Road. Located in Uzbekistan, it’s full of remarkable monuments but also provides a good introduction into daily life, especially in the lively farmers markets and bazaars. After Samarkand, we go to the Caucasus, to visit the fast developing capital city of Azerbaijan, Baku. Visiting the modern shopping malls and vibrant streets gives an interesting contrast with the narrow alleys of the old town here, and the wide promenade facing the Caspian Sea.

The Pamir Highway in Tajikistan is one of the most challenging, but also rewarding, travel destinations in Central Asia. It requires solid preparation, and many tourists decide to hire experienced travelers and guides for their trips. Back in Uzbekistan, the Fergana Valley takes you back in time, with charming villages, and an opportunity to view a traditional silk weaving factory.

Astana, now known as Nur-Sultan, is the modern capital city of Kazakhstan, and sometimes nicknamed as ‘Dubai of the Steppe’. It’s an interesting place to visit, and attracts people from across the country to work, study, and live. Back in the Caucasus, Tbilisi is steeped in history, and full of culture and charisma. The stunning Tsminda Sameba Cathedral is an important place of worship in the Georgia’s Orthodox Christian religion.

In Kyrgyzstan you will find some of the region’s most traditional ways of life, as nomadic shepherd families still move from villages to classic yurts. Traveling across the green pastures is a great way to experience a lifestyle that seems unusual in many societies these days. The capital city of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, is a peculiar place on the list. Regarded as a secretive dictatorship, Turkmenistan is also one of the most mysterious and closed countries in the world. Keep in mind that people here face severe limitations in their daily lives.

Armenia is a beautiful destination in the Caucasus, and includes the friendly capital Armenia, and several stunning medieval monasteries. We finish this journey in Bukhara, another important stop on the historic Silk Road. There are many mosques and other landmarks to visit, but it’s also just a friendly town where you can eat some delicious food and soak up the relaxed atmosphere.

Nepal Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Nepal.
At the foot of the huge peaks of the Himalayas is Pokhara and it is from here that we begin our journey through Nepal. In the past, Pokhara was an important trading link between India and Tibet but the trading of salt and wool came to an end after Tibet closed its doors to the outside world.Kathmandu is a melting pot of both race and religion, a metropolis in the heart of the Kingdom of Nepal, a country of snow-covered mountains inhabited by the gods. Kumari Chowk is the residence of the living goddess, Kumari, who is duly selected from childhood. She is not allowed to leave until puberty as her task is it affirm the king his power. Traditional ceremonies are celebrated throughout the year such as the Festival Of The Children that is a symbol of fertility and sexual purity. Patan is Nepal’s second largest city and has retained much of its original character due to its three hundred monasteries and temples. It is also one of the oldest settlements in Kathmandu Valley and during the 15th century was the capital of one of three kingdoms. Bhaktapur is the third ancient regal city of the thirty kilometre long Kathmandu Valley that has always been a prosperous trading route between China, Tibet and India. Through the golden gate of Sundhoka is the old royal palace complex. The Torana above the gate is richly gilded and features the ten-armed goddess, Taleju, and her loyal guards. Located on a 1,400 metre high hill, Swayanbunath is a Buddhist monastery complex and one of the most interesting sights in Nepal. The country’s oldest stupa dates back to the 5th century and is entered from an easterly direction up a staircase that contains three hundred and sixty-five steps. Endless rows of prayer mills and religious images are the instruments of the people’s deep faith. Hidden in a canyon and located on top of a mountain creek, Dakshinkali stands guard over the valley. This wonderful place is dedicated to the bloody goddess, Kali. The customs of the people in the ‘Kingdom On The Roof Of The World’ may seem somewhat strange. But this land of jungle and eternal snow has developed according to its own rich traditions and beliefs. Like magic!
