The municipality of Brienz includes a number of communities along the upper end of Lake Brienz, and stretches into the neighboring mountains. It includes the village of Brienz on the right shore, the mouth of the Aare and the village of Kienholz to the north and the settlements of Engi and Schwendi on the left bank. Heading away from the right shore the land rises to the Rotschalp, Planalp and Giebelegg before reaching the Brienzer Rothorn (2,351 m). Heading away from the left shore it rises over the Brienzerberg and Giessbach Falls, Tschingelfeld, Hinterburg and Axalp until it reaches the Schwarzhorn (2,928 m).
The parish of Brienz includes Oberried am Brienzersee, Schwanden bei Brienz, Hofstetten bei Brienz and Brienzwiler.

Description: This beautiful evening drive starts at Goldswil, a small village on the north-western edge of Lake Brienz. It continues east-wards passing by Ringgenberg, followed by Niederried bei Interlaken and goes through the beautiful village of Oberried am Brienzersee. The drive further continues onto Ebligen, and arrives at the village of Brienz on the eastern shore of the lake. The drive continues until Brienz train station and terminates there.

Lake Brienz Brienzersee is a lake just north of the Alps, in the canton of Berne in Switzerland. It has a length of about 14 kilometres, a width of 2.8 kilometres and a maximum depth of 260 metres. Its area is 29.8 square kilometres, and the surface is 564 metres above the sea-level.
The turquoise lake as well as the neighboring Lake Thun are located in the middle of the imposing mountain scenery of the Bernese Oberland.
The Lake of Brienz is a nutrient-free and one of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland.

Eine Schifffahrt auf dem Brienzersee - Berner Oberland
Endlich startet wieder die Schifffahrt auf dem Brienzersee und Klein und Gross freut sich über die Möglichkeit über die türkisfarbene Perle des Berner Oberlands zu schweben. Noch ist die Landschaft etwas karg aber in wenigen Wochen wird alles rund um den Brienzersee grün und saftig!
Achtet euch auf die Sequenz bei Iseltwald. Dort wird im Moment der Steg von der Netflix Crash landing on you von Fäns aus der ganzen Welt überrannt.
Finally the boats are sailing again on Lake Brienz and young and old are happy about the possibility to float over the turquoise pearl of the Bernese Oberland. The landscape is still a bit barren but in a few weeks everything around Lake Brienz will be green and lush!
Watch out for the sequence near Iseltwald. There at the moment the jetty of the Netflix Crash landing on you is overrun by fäns from all over the world.

Brienzersee-Uferweg und Giessbachfälle
Am linken Seeufer des Brienzersees besteht ein schöner Wanderweg. Die Route (beginnend in Isletwald) ist relativ lang, und zurzeit ist Wintersperre aus Sicherheitsgründen. Mit eigener Verantwortung habe ich diese Wanderung trotzdem gemacht (weil es ja nirgends Schnee hat und es trocken ist). Anzuraten ist aber in jedem Fall, man wartet den Frühling ab. Die Wucht der Giessbachfälle ist jetzt im Winter reduziert, denn Teile davon sind vereist.
