AMERICAN SAMOA: Exploring the disappointing capital ☹️ of PAGO PAGO (Pacific Ocean)

American Samoa and the capital of Pago Pago, what to see, tour of Pago Pago in American Samoa. Let's travel to American Samoa (also known as Eastern Samoa) in the Pacific Ocean and let's go for a walk around Pago Pago, the capital of the American territory of American Samoa. In Pago Pago, we will see a variety of sights and I will explain to you why this place will not be on anyone's visitation plans any time soon. American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of Samoa.
Pago Pago, the capital of American Samoa, comprises a string of coastal villages on Tutuila Island. It’s a gateway to the National Park of American Samoa, which protects lush rainforest, coral reefs and waters visited by humpback whales. Fagatogo village is home to the Jean P. Haydon Museum, exhibiting local historic artifacts in a former U.S. Navy facility. A trail leads up to Blunts Point Battery, a WWII gun site.

Samoa Tsunami 2009 PART 1

This video is Part 1 of a 3-Part series in which I show the tragic aftermath that a devastating tsunami left on Samoa in the Fall of 2009

DANGERS and BEAUTY of ALAO BEACH | AVAS (RIP CURRENTS) | TSUNAMI WARNINGS | AMERICAN SAMOA Jan 2022

What do you do when you've had a week full of work and uncertainty and the stress of multiple TSUNAMI WARNINGS?

We left all our cares behind on our sailboat and had a relaxing, family day at ALAO BEACH, AMERICAN SAMOA.

Once we felt as confident as we could that we wouldn't be putting ourselves in unnecessary danger from a tsunami, we headed out to the eastern tip of Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa.

Once there, we immediately spotted our escape route, just in case we had to get to higher ground, then we kicked back under the fales.

Alao Beach always brings back beautiful, but terrifying memories from the first time we visited this breathtaking spot. That was the first time we learned what the Samoan word Ava means (rip current) and how to keep ourselves safe.

Come see why we keep coming back in spite of the dangers and hopefully learn how you can keep yourself safe too.
