Heartbreaking Tour of Destroyed MOSUL, IRAQ (Former ISIS Capital) ???????? الموصل
Mosul, the third largest city in Iraq, lived under ISIS occupation for three years (2014 - 2017) and was declared as the capital city of the Islamic State. It was liberated by the Iraqi Army in 2017 with assistance from foreign troops, after many months of intense fighting. Years of extremist rule and war has meant that over 5,000 buildings in the old part of Mosul alone were destroyed. In this video, I walk through some of the most badly damaged streets, before seeing some of the more positive developments since the liberation.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! This City Was Under ISIS Control for 3 Years
(NOT FOR CHILDREN) There are no words to explain the horrific atrocities the people of Mosul faced when their beautiful city was under control of ISIS for three years. Hearing locals' stories and walking through the streets of rubble will stick with us for a long time.
But what stands out the most is their joy. That despite everything they have been through, they live with this shining light, as one of the locals called it. The people of Mosul are some of the most kind and resilient people we have ever met, and we were so inspired by them.
Many people shared that tourism is a sign of hope for them, and that they want the world to know the things they have been through as well as the incredible people they are ????

This Ancient Historic Site was Taken by ISIS
UNESCO named this an endangered World Heritage Site after ISIS damaged it. But Hatra was taken back and has now reopened to tourists to learn more about the incredible history of this site, dating back to the third century BC!
We were so inspired to hear of all the director and his father have done to protect the history of this site, and very grateful to visit.
