NAMIBIA | Epic landscapes + iconic animals + powerful music

Here's a short 4K video featuring the incredible highlights of Namibia accompanied with a heavenly soundtrack. Make sure to watch the entire clip as the music gets extremely powerful after the one minute mark.

Namibia in Southern Africa is a top destination for travelers who enjoy unrivaled natural scenery, unearthly looking landscapes, spectacular sand dunes and first-class wildlife viewing. Over the coming two months, I will publish several videos featuring Namibia's stunning ultra-luxe lodges.

Initially, I created this short video for Instagram as a short teaser for my upcoming Namibia trip reports. But then I discovered this incredibly beautiful piece of music by Trevor Kowalski. The soundtrack matched my footage of Namibia’s spectacular landscapes so well, that I felt the video deserved an upload on YouTube as a trailer for my upcoming Namibia series.

Botswana’s Okavango Delta - Heaven on Earth

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Hey! Antoine Janssens here. Since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated by the wildlife around us. I watch a lot of wildlife documentaries and the beauty that they display still shocks me all the time.

The vision that I have about this sensitive topic is quite simple:
« Look at the beauty of this animal evolving in the wild. We must protect it if we want our children to see it the way we do. »

People protect what they love.

The goal of this movie is to show the beauty of the Okavango Delta and the magnificence of these species living their best life in the wild. And honestly, it's also good to see a place where humans don't have control over it.

I hope this movie will touch you deep in your heart (or just a little bit it’s quite ok ????). Let me know what you think in the comments, I’ll be there!

And finally THANK YOU VERY MUCH @Beautifuldestinations for making this possible!

Traveling to Namibia? Watch this video to discover Namibia's highlights!

Are you traveling to Namibia for your next holiday? Are you still undecided on which countries to choose for your trip to Africa? If it is going to be your first time in Namibia, do not miss these highlights!

Namibia is named after the world’s oldest desert – the Namib Desert, and is located in southwestern Africa. With a stunning Atlantic coastline and diverse landscape teeming with abundant wildlife, Namibia is one of the best African destinations and only a few other countries can surpass its immense natural wealth. The country also has a diverse population of ethnic groups and tribes, thus boasting of a rich cultural environment.

Namibia’s modern capital Windhoek is also its largest city and houses historical monuments and German architectural structures. The most recognized landmark of the city is the early-20th-century Lutheran church – Christuskirche (also known as Christ Church). Other highlights include the National Museum of Namibia, Independence Memorial Museum, Trans-Namib Transport Museum and Zoo Park.

The coastal city of Swakopmund is popular for its German-era architecture that is displayed in the Swakopmund Lighthouse, the old sea wall, State House, Railway Station and Woerman House, which almost makes you forget you are in Africa. It also houses beautiful beaches, bays and bustling waterfronts with bars and restaurants. Luderitz is also famous for its German architecture, especially art nouveau styles and its rugged terrain.

Within the vast Namib Desert lie Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, two of its major highlights. The salt and clay pan of Sossusvlei is ringed by red dunes which have been featured in numerous movies including major titles like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Mad Max: Fury Road. The nearby Deadvlei also offers a similar experience on a lesser scale than Sossusvlei. Namibia is home to the world’s second-largest canyon – the Fish River Canyon. While you can drive a 4×4 or hike the canyon, the popular 5-day canyon hike is the must-do activity to experience its sheer beauty and landscape.

The Damaraland region is famous for its abundant wildlife, with a diverse topography ranging from desert landscape to mountains. Etosha National Park is one of Namibia’s and Africa’s greatest wildlife-watching destinations. The park is so vast that you would need at least 4 to 5 days to explore it completely. Its wildlife includes Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, rhinoceros elephant, and Cape buffalo, zebra, cheetah, hyena, giraffe and hundreds of other species. The Dorob National Park, located along the central coast of Namibia, is known for its Cape Cross Seal Reserve. The reserve is home to over 1,00,000 seals and the sight of them lounging on the beach is extraordinary.

Namibian culture is a fusion of multiple ethnic groups, which majorly comprise the Owambo and Herero tribes. As you travel across the country, you will come in contact with their ancient and colourful customs and traditions, observe their unique lifestyle and also get a chance to buy their authentic handicrafts.

Namibia presents its visitors with everything they would expect from an African country and more! Its impressive diversity in nature and culture, including some of the world’s biggest sand dunes and oldest tribes, makes up for a thoroughly exciting experience.

Must visit places in Namibia: Etosha National Park, Sossusvlei, Fish River Canyon, Swakopmund, Damaraland, Luderitz, Windhoek, Cape Cross Seal Reserve, Himba Tribe Village
