KRABI, THAILAND (2023) | 10 BEST Things To Do In Krabi (Ao Nang & Around)

Krabi is located on southern Thailand’s west coast. Krabi is home to impressive limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests, white sand beaches, and more than 100 offshore islands.

???? BOOK A PLACE TO STAY IN KRABI
- Krabi Forest Homestay (this budget place is where we stayed):
- COSI Krabi Ao Nang Beach:

10. Enjoy the Ao Nang beaches & sunset
Ao Nang Beach is a great place to admire the Andaman sea, take a dip, and watch the sunset.

9. Explore the food & nightlife at Ao Nang
The Soi RCA Entertainment area is the place to go if you’re looking for a late night party.

8. Go For an Island-Hopping Tour
We did a day trip by longtail boat, covering 4 islands. There were multiple stops for swimming and snorkeling and a stop at Railay Beach.

☑️ Book 4 Islands Tour:

7. Hike the Wat Tham Sua
Sitting right outside of Krabi Town, the Tiger Cave Temple is certainly worth a visit. Most visitors come to climb the 1,260 steps to the top of the hill.

6. Explore Thung Teao Forest Natural Park
There is a short boardwalk trail that takes you to three different pools in the middle of the jungle: Crystal Pool, Emerald Pool, and the Blue Pool.

5. Dip into the Krabi Hot Springs
Cut into smooth rocks, the hot springs flow from deep rooted thermal springs that are located inside volcanic chambers.

☑️ Day tour to the Emerald Pool, Hot Springs, and Tiger Cave Temple:

4. Krabi Town Weekend Night Market
Krabi Town is the capital of Krabi. And like many other big towns in Thailand, there is a local night market here. Every Friday to Sunday from 4 to 10 PM the market is set up next to the Chao Fah Pier.

3. Go on a boat tour to Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi are undoubtedly Krabi’s most popular islands to visit. From Ao Nang, you can join a full-day speedboat tour to the islands, which are encircled with sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and spectacular natural scenery.

☑️ Day tour to Phi Phi Islands from Ao Nang:

2. Relax a few days at Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta Yai is an island about a 3 hour drive away from Ao Nang. With a variety of unspoiled beaches, it’s a great place to relax. There are also certified diving schools offering diving and snorkeling trips to nearby islands and reefs.

1. Railay beach rock climbing
Railay beach is home to white sand beaches, cute bars and restaurants, as well as its spectacular caves, such as Phra Nang and Diamond Cave. It's also a rock climbing destination.

ABOUT COMRAD SOCKS This episode is also sponsored by Comrad Socks. Comrad compression socks are an essential no serious traveler should board a flight without — at least on LA-NY or transoceanic segments — and makes a major difference in how your legs and feet feel during the flight, upon arrival, and the next day. Their aim is to make the best, most stylish, comfortable version of what’s traditionally been a boring but useful product—and that’s why travel customers that already know and wear compression are getting excited about. ABOUT JOHN TILLISON John was a Law Enforcement Park Ranger for 20 years before starting Park Ranger John. The goal of Park Ranger John is to share the things I learned while working and living in parks. I want our readers to have the best experiences possible in the parks they visit.

Follow John on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

TIPS FOR VISITING NATIONAL PARKS As the National parks start to open you may see different rules and regulations for each park depending on the crowds that they are getting. Some parks may only be available for scheduled visits rather than just showing up. Crowd control has always been a top priority for National Parks and you will see that this is still a fact as the parks are slowly re-opening. Make sure that you are contacting the right people to find out what each park is offering as they start to open up again, whether it is a visitors center or the local Park Rangers. Facebook and Twitter have been a really up to date source of information for what is going on for each of the parks. The Junior Ranger Programs are a really great source of learning for a bunch of different age groups. The way the program works is that you would find a ranger at a visitors center or contact station and ask about the program. They will give you a booklet and throughout the day you will go through the visitors center and learn some of the history of the park. Then you will go out into the park and do some activities. Once you do the worksheets in the booklet you will take it into the ranger and take a pledge and receive a Junior Ranger Badge. This is not something that you can do in five minutes. You will need to make sure that you are getting the booklet as soon as you get there if this is something that you want to do for your visit. You can also earn a Junior Ranger Badge virtually. Different parks are offering some other virtual learning tools right now that kids can take advantage of. Just visit John’s site for information on the Junior Ranger Programs so that you can learn at home. You can look up National Park webcams and just look around at different parks at home. The average National Park visits is about 3 - 4 hours, usually between the hours of 9am and 4pm. So if you want to visit at a less busy time you should keep that in mind when planning your visit. The first couple weeks of June or the very end of August also tend to be less crowded due to school openings and closings. Unfortunately that won't necessarily be the case for this year! FAVORITE TRAVEL GEAR John loves his Zamberlan boots because if his feet aren't happy he is not happy! He also likes to wear layers because it is easy to dress up or down, and clothes that dry quickly.

America's Western National Parks

America's Western National Parks contain our nation's finest examples of scenic, natural, and cultural wonders. In 1832 western artist George Catlin envisioned a Nation's Park to preserve America's wilderness for future ages. That dream became a reality in 1872, when Congress created Yellowstone National Park.

Park Ranger John | Planning a Visit to America's National Parks

It's time to start planning out your Spring and Summer vacation, and if you're planning to see some national parks in the United States, I've got a special guest who has a wealth of knowledge on the subject. His name is John Tillison and he spent 20 years as a park ranger, helping maintain our parks, informing visitors through interpretive programs, and through law enforcement. John started a blog a couple years ago helping people get concise and targeted information about our 418 nationally managed park destinations and 61 official national parks.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK | Grand Teton | Retirement Vlog #13

The Retirement Travelers continue their retirement travel and visit the very first US National Park, Yellowstone, along with Grand Teton National Park just to the south as they do their Wyoming travel vlog. They enter from the north through the iconic Roosevelt Arch and see an abundance of great wildlife, i.e. bison, elk and a variety of birds. They see Yellowstone Canyon, which offers scenic waterfall views and vistas. The geothermal features of Yellowstone, such as Mammoth Hot Springs, Norris Geyser Basin and Old Faithful set this place apart from all others. This incredibly unique landscape should be on everyone’s travel bucket list. The Grand Tetons rise steeply out of the valley floor and offer stunning views of the mountains, beautiful alpine lakes and great hiking. John becomes a “Junior Ranger” and they find themselves in another “pickle!”

ABOUT US:

As the #retirementtravelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become #travelvloggers and start a YouTube channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.

In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.

In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a suitcase and a small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next ten years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

We hope you enjoy the journey with us. Drop us a note in the comments and be sure to hit subscribe! ???? ???? ????
