A Rail Trip Through The Scenic Hills of Eastern Slovakia - ZSSK 861 DMU Review
Hello, and welcome back to another train trip report on my channel.
In this video I will be travelling on-board a ZSSK 861 diesel unit from Prešov to Hanušovce nad Topľou. I had intended to continue through to Humenné, but unfortunately there were rail replacement buses in operation past Hanušovce nad Topľou.
This journey takes us through the hills of Slovakia's Prešov region. It's just a regional route, so plenty of peaceful villages and small towns can be seen on the journey. Usually, the service is operated by an impressive ZSSK 757 diesel locomotive with carriages, however thanks to the disruption today, it was relegated to these Slovak-built units.

Slovakia boasts an efficient and well-connected rail network that covers a significant portion of the country. The trains are known for their punctuality, comfort, and excellent service. The national railway company, ZSSK (Zeleznicná spoločnosť Slovensko), operates a comprehensive network of intercity and regional trains, making it easy to navigate between different cities and regions.
I personally prefer the more spacious intercity ambience of the Slovakian Railways (ZSSK) cars, these are air-conditioned and have power sockets if you need to recharge your mobile or laptop. The seats are in spacious bays, and line up with the windows for a great view.
The direct connection Košice – Vienna is operated in cooperation of ZSSK and the Austrian railway carrier ÖBB

Hello, and welcome back to another train trip report on my channel.
In this video I will be travelling on-board a ZSSK WLAB sleeper coach from Bratislava-Nové Mesto to Prešov.
Slovakia has a good provison of overnight sleeper trains, using an array of different types of carriages. I am travelling in one of the retro ones, which feels like an overnight trip back in time to the days of Czechoslovak railways. It's a great experience - at a great price.

This winter brought snow in early January and considerable cold weather to preserve it. Therefore, I went to the Slovakian mountains to catch some diesel action in the fresh snow. As always, Zvolen based “brejlovci” action lifted my mood despite the cold temperatures outside.

Given the current state of the world (its Autumn here and getting colder) I've not been getting out and about as much as I would like seeing railways of any description. So this journey seemed like a good opportunity to try out something new, to actually film it. Even more of an experiment is to add a voice over, which seemed like a good idea at the time but I really need to work on a script. Thank you for bearing with me on this :)

Emeletes motorvonat Szlovákiában (ŽSSK 671 sorozat) - Párkány (Štúrovo)–Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky)
Északi szomszédunknál jelenleg 19 emeletes motorvonat van forgalomban, többek között Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky) állomásról négy irányba közlekednek . 2010 óta vannak forgalomban Szlovákiában, elővárosi forgalomra használják a fővonalakon. A pozsonyi főpályaudvar (Bratislava hlavná stanica), Léva (Levice), Párkány (Štúrovo) és Komárom (Komárno) irányába szoktak személyvonatként közlekedni. Az emeletes kocsikat ingavonatba is be szokták tenni, a vezérlőkocsi kis mértékben tér el a motorvonat vezérlőkocsijától.
A vonatokat a cseh Škoda Transportation gyártja, Csehországon kívül még négy másik ország vasúttársaságai rendelték meg az emeletes szerelvényeket (Litvánia, Szlovákia, Ukrajna, Németország).

Slovak Railways 2018

Taken all over Slovakia during 2018. It is an interesting railway network with some truly breathtaking routes and lines. The locos are a good mix of former Czechoslovakia builds dating from the mid 1960s right up to the newest locos hauling passenger trains between the main cities. Rolling stock pretty much covers this period also.

The HIDDEN GEM scenic ride from Turčianske Teplice to Banská Bystrica in Slovakia
A quick ride through the Fatras in Slovakia on a snowy winter's morning. This journey really is one of those hidden gem trips that cuts its way through steeply-sided valleys to finally bring you down to Banská Bystrica.
I'd heard about this on a UK newspaper's travel section, where they were detailing the less travelled scenic routes of Europe. I had time before my train to Bratislava to make the trip there and back and I was so pleased I did!
