Best of Rincón Puerto Rico! Stunning 4K Scenery! Snorkeling at Steps Beach and More!

Best beaches, best sunset spot, best place to stay, best things to do, and most importantly, best tacos and other food!! We go snorkeling at Steps Beach, visit Maria's and Sandy Beach, and eat at Calypso's Café, Shaka Tacos, Jack's Shack, and Tamboo. We show the best neighborhood to stay in and recommend a great Airbnb. We also show some cool surfing and gorgeous sunsets! Below is more info.

Here is more info on the best stuff in Rincón:
Best Beaches-
Sandy Beach - Main beach in Rincón. Lot's of nice sand and some surfing.
Steps Beach - Best place for snorkeling and interesting rock formations. Bring water shoes and look for the concrete steps (where the name comes from)
Maria's Beach - Surfing and best beach for a sunset. Near Calypso's Café.
Domes Beach - Near Maria's beach and also great for surfing and there is a decommissioned nuclear power plant

Best Food-
Tamboo - Seafood, sandwiches, ribs, steaks and vegetarian options. Try the ramen. Great atmosphere near Sandy Beach and near where we stayed.
Calypso Café - near Maria's Beach. Salads, tacos, burgers and sandwiches. Eat some tacos then take a stroll along Maria's beach to watch surfers and the sunset.
Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant - Watch Uncle Ward and other live music. Burgers, sandwiches, and Tacos. Try the spicy El Diablo Burger with fries.
Shaka Tacos - Best tacos! Best hot sauces!
Jack's Shack - Great fish tacos, quesadillas, burritos. Great option for breakfast.
The Beach House - Lot's of appetizers, tacos, salads, burgers and more. Great view of the ocean.
La Cambija - Doesn't look like much, but great seafood. We didn't make it, but highly recommended by the locals.
estela Restaurant - Great place if you are looking for a nicer, more expensive meal.

Best Place to Stay-
We stayed at the Beach Pad Airbnb in the Punta's neighborhood. Great location for us.

Best Sunset-
Get tacos at Calypso Café then stroll Maria's Beach and watch the sunset. Then go back to Calypso Café for some dancing.

Best Music-
Get a spicy El Diablo Burger at Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant and watch some live music. Maybe you can catch Uncle Ward.

Best Activities-
Snorkeling at Steps Beach, Scuba diving at Desecheo Island, surfing at Maria's, Dome, or Sandy Beach. Visit art galleries. Take pictures at the old nuclear power plant near Punta Higüera Lighthouse.

Things to do in the surfing town of Rincón, Puerto Rico (Waterfalls, food & beaches)

Hey nature lover! Here are some spots you should visit in the surfing capital of Rincón, which is on the west side of Puerto Rico. We begin in a waterfall called El Último Salto, then head to beaches such as, Domes, Steps, etc. We also had a night out at the Plaza and the Fiestas Patronales and since it was my Birthday we had a nice fancy dinner. Enjoy!

3 Great Hidden Beach Secret Spots in Rincon, Puerto Rico: Tunnel, Giant Chair & Deserted Beach

Have you seen these three great spots in Rincon? For me two of them were brand new, one of the tunnels to the sea in which I had to crawl on my hands and knees, the giant tourist chair that we had to scale a wall to find and a palm fringed beach beyond an old local hang out. Which is your favorite?

Spanish Wall Beach: This is Rincon's 'secret beach' that you can only reach by hiking from Domes Beach on the 'Domes Trail'. Located at the very corner of Rincon - you'll see both the Atlantic and Caribbean as you pass the area known as 'Trampa de Tiburon'.  Its also one of the best Surf Breaks - so you'll enjoy the action during winter surfing season. This is a great area for collecting shells and 'getting away from it all'.

Domes Beach: One of the most recognized names in Rincon - Domes Beach is named for the dome of the old nuclear plant on one of the most famous surfing beaches in the world. The dome is being converted into a Science Center and Museum - so don't worry about any rays emitted from the dome - but bring plenty of sun screen if you plan to spend a day on the beach! To get to Domes Beach, drive past Lighthouse Park and look for the whale-shaped beach marker. This is also a great place for whale watching in winter and is almost empty is summer if you want to have a beach all to yourself!

Rincón Lighthouse & Park: You can't visit Rincon without at least one visit to the Punta Higuero Lighthouse and El Faro Park. During the winter season you can watch surfers and whales from the walk that runs along the top of the cliffs. There are no real beaches that are accessible to the public, but you get great views of Domes Beach to the right and Indicators Beach to the left as you look out toward Desecheo Island.

Just below the lighthouse is one of the most famous surfing breaks in Rincon - known as Deadman's for the nasty rocks jutting out from the cliffs which mean trouble if a wave brings you in that direction. You can see it if you look right down from Lighthouse Park for the rock that looks like Christopher Columbus's head. No matter what time of year you visit, this is a great photo opportunity and a chance to visit the shop, snack bar or use the public rest facilities. Plenty of parking and interesting information about this historic lighthouse on the location where Columbus set foot as the first tourist to Rincon!

Desecheo Island: You will see this mysterious island from almost everywhere in Rincon - but the view is especially impressive from the Sunset Coast and Lighthouse Park.

Desecheo Island is a closed protected environmental reserve which can only be visited with special permission for scientific research. Located about 12 miles off the coast of Rincon, Desecheo has some of the best SCUBA diving in Puerto Rico. Even though you can't actually step foot on the island - you can get 'up close' if you visit with one of the Dive Shops which are permitted to visit dive sites off-shore.

If you don't dive, check with the Dive Shops and see if they have any space for snorkelers. Desecheo Island has very clear waters that make it great for snorkelers in the shallow areas just off the coast.

Indicators Beach: Just to the left of Lighthouse Park, this is one of the best places to park your car, climb down the incline and watch the surfers in the winter surf season. There are no hotels, restaurants, bars or public facilities - but the Lighthouse Park is just down the road (plenty of parking is available at the park).

When the surf isn't up, this beach is almost completely empty - so if you want to have 'private beach' for a romantic stroll or complete relaxation, this may be a good choice during the 'off season'. Indicators is a very rocky beach, so this is not a good choice for swimming.

Maria's Beach: During the 'season' this is the center of surfing activity in Rincon. Look for the whale-shaped beach sign on your way to the Lighthouse Park and pull into the parking lot and sit under one of the shady trees, you can really feel the energy of the waves as it spreads out from Marias to all of Rincon!
This is where the waves kick up and provide some of the most exciting surfing in the Caribbean! Make sure you grap a photo in front of the surfer crossing sign and hang-ten with the surfer dudes! During the summer, the beach changes character and becomes a great place to enjoy the sun, sand and a typical Caribbean day at the beach.

Steps Beach & Tres Palmas Marine Reserve: This is another legendary surfing beach which got its name from the set of steps that clings to the beach. In surfing terms - Steps is the 'inside surf break' and Tres Palmas is the 'outside surf break' - so you'll hear this beach referred to by both names.

To get to Steps Beach you have to look carefully for the whale-shaped sign that is only visible as you are driving from downtown toward the Lighthouse.

Exploring Puerto Rico's Beautiful Beaches: Domes and Steps Beaches in Rincón

Explore the Ocean With Us!
We’re Andrew and Laura – a Boat Captain, a Marine Scientist, and two professional Scuba Divers. Join us as we share wild stories, ocean adventures, and useful tips with you from under (and above) the sea!

If you're looking for an amazing beach vacation, look no further than Puerto Rico. These two beaches, Domes and Steps, are some of the most beautiful in Rincon. With crystal-clear water and stunning scenery, you'll love spending your days here!

Domes Beach is most famous for its epic surfing opportunities - some of the best in the Caribbean. As you'll see in the video, surfing conditions were not ideal, with some of the calmest seas these beaches might have seen in a year.

However, we hiked along the coastline beginning at Faro de Rincon before making our way north along the coast beginning at Domes Beach. It seems the shoreline trail runs from the beach to the beach for as long as you want to take it.

Later in the day, we changed course and visited Steps Beach to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful limestone formations projecting into the ocean.

Living Local in Rincon PUERTO RICO ????

Join us for a week in Rincon Puerto Rico, meeting locals and learning what it's really like to live there, travel vlog style.

We'll tour you through our charming Airbnb studio at Mango Mountain with its gorgeous ocean view, show you some beaches around town, and introduce you to some awesome locals living in Rincon, including Natalia, the owner of Rincon Mail.

Natalia will share what it's like to live there full time, including safety, surfing, traffic, lifestyle, real estate, and home prices. We'll also discuss the kind of people who live in Rincon, how they feel about mainlanders, and how it compares to living in the San Juan metro area.

Then we'll take you with us to some of our favorite restaurants around the area, including Cafe 413, The Beach House, Casa Islena, and The English Rose. Always in search of foodie waterfront dining, several of these restaurants have fantastic ocean views and delicious, healthy meals.

We also meet up with Cassie, Britton, and Aeden from YouTube Channel LifeTransPlanet, pick up some random new friends who just happen to be free that day, and go on a little local adventure with an easy hike to neighborhood waterfall and swimming hole, Ultimo Brinco.

Then we go on to see a favorite local's beach, where you'll find the Bote Millan, with its gorgeous, sandy beach views. Afterward, we move on to drinks and appetizers at the beachfront Villa Cofresi, another favorite local watering hole.

The whole experience turns out to be an absolutely magical day in Rincon—watch the video to learn why... :)

Don't miss our series exploring real estate on the northwest side of the island, including Isabela, Aguadilla, Aguada, and Rincon.

And be sure to check out our San Juan series of videos, where we explore the top, up-and-coming neighborhoods, including Calle Loiza, Ocean Park, Isla Verde, Santurce, El Gandul, Tres Talleres, and Guaynabo.
