History lovers shouldn't miss a visit to the A-Ma Temple. It is believed that the name of the city is derived from the name of this temple. Its origins date back to the 15th century AD, and it is one of the oldest traditional temples in Macau. The complex is made up of 6 sections, each of which reveals the gems of classical Chinese architecture. When you visit, don't forget to write, and hang your wishes if you want them to be fulfilled.
The city was a Portuguese colony for more than 400 years, as evidenced by the ruins of the 16th-century complex, where the beautiful facade and the front stairway of St. Paul's Cathedral are the best preserved.
The best place to breathe the history of old Macau is the Largo do Senado Square, the governmental centre from the colonial era. You will find splendid pastel-colored classic buildings, shops, and restaurants with typical southern European architecture. When walking through the old city, we recommend trying local cuisine - it is a unique mixture of Chinese and Portuguese tastes.
At a close distance to the square, about 5 minutes by foot, visit the late 16th-century Baroque-style St. Dominic's Church - the oldest church building in the city. This building shows the mixture of European and local Macanese features in its design. The church's high altar features a beautiful statue of the Madonna and Child as the centerpiece and is flanked by wood and ivory-carved statues of several saints.
Not afraid of heights? Then you must visit the 338-metre-high Macau Tower. Its observation deck features the best views of the city, restaurants, theatres, and shopping malls.

Taxi
Macau’s taxis come in two color schemes: one is yellow, the other is black and cream. Both color taxis charge the same fees. Taxis stands are located near hotel lobbies.
Tips:
·Base price (first 1.6 km): MOP17, additional MOP2 for each 260 m afterwards.
Extra fees: Taxi waiting fee is MOP2 for every minute. Taxis have a MOP3 luggage storing fee. There is a MOP2 fee from Taipa to Coloane, and a MOP5 fee from Macau to Coloane. There is an MOP5 fee for taxi trips to and from the airport.

0:18 DAY 1: We start our journey in the historic center of Macau, where we will visit the Ruins of St. Paul's. This famous landmark is the remains of a 16th-century church that was destroyed by fire in 1835. Next, we will visit the Senado Square, a vibrant plaza that is surrounded by historic Portuguese-style buildings. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, and street performances.
For lunch, we recommend trying some local Macanese cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the area. Some popular dishes include Portuguese-style chicken, African chicken, and egg tarts.
In the afternoon, we will visit the iconic Macau Tower, which stands at 338 meters tall and offers stunning views of the city. For thrill-seekers, you can try the Skywalk or the Skyjump.
1:13 DAY 2: Today, we will explore the Cotai Strip, which is home to many of Macau's modern casinos and entertainment resorts. Start your day by visiting the Venetian Macao, a world-class resort that offers shopping, dining, and entertainment. You can even take a gondola ride through the indoor canals.For lunch, we recommend trying some of the international cuisine options available at the resorts. In the afternoon, visit the City of Dreams, another massive entertainment complex that offers shopping, dining, and gaming.For dinner, head over to Taipa Village, a charming area that is filled with historic buildings and local eateries. Here you can try some traditional Macanese dishes such as pork chop buns, minchi, and balichao.

Start your day by visiting the Coloane Village, a traditional fishing village that has retained its rustic charm. Here you can visit the famous Chapel of St. Francis Xavier and the Tin Hau Temple.For lunch, we recommend trying some local seafood at one of the many restaurants in the village.
In the afternoon, visit the Hac Sa Beach, a beautiful black sand beach that is popular among locals and tourists alike.For dinner, head over to the Cotai Strip and try some of the fine dining options available at the resorts.
2:36 DAY 4: On our final day in Macau, we will visit the Macau Fisherman's Wharf, a massive theme park that is modelled after a European fishing village. Macau is like Las Vegas and Dubai had a baby, and oh is it wonderful. What was once a Portuguese colony on the Chinese mainland, has since been returned to China and operates as a semi-autonomous government, much like Hong Kong. Here you will find some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, as well as some of the largest casinos in the entire world.
You don’t have to like to gamble to spend some time in Macau, but it sure wouldn’t hurt to keep things interesting. 5. PARISIAN
To kick off our list at number 5 is The Parisian Macao which boasts a ½ sized reconstruction of the Eiffel Tower. Even if you don’t book your stay here, and opt instead for one of the other hotels on our Top 5 list, you can still wander around this property and take in the sights and sounds that almost transport you right onto the streets of France.
This hotel features 3,000 guest rooms, and cost more than $2.5 Billion to build. Inside you can find more than 150 retail shops, a convention space, and even a performing arts theater than can seat over 1,200 people.
4. VENETIAN MACAU
Coming in at #4 on our list is the Venetian Macao Resort. This version of the Venetian is themed just like its Las Vegas counterpart, but on a MUCH larger scale. The 39-story hotel has a total square footage of more than 10 and a half million square feet inside, making it one of the largest buildings on Earth. There is even a sports arena on site than can seat more than 15,000 fans for popular concerts and sporting events.
On-site you will find 3,000 guest rooms, as well as luxurious private suites among the top floors, and they even have their own private Cirque du Soliel show called Zaia. Inside you will also find a reconstruction of the canals of Venice Italy where you can hire a Gondola to ride around in style and sightsee. This makes the resort one of the most popular places in all of Macao for tourists to get in their photo ops.
3. MGM COTAI
Right in the middle at number 3 is the MGM Cotai. This modern and luxurious property cost about $3.5 Billion to build, and it reflects that level quality in its facilities and amenities. Coming in at a well-deserved 2nd place is the Wynn Palace. Steve Wynn practically kicked started the modern Macao experience when he opened his first Wynn hotel here back in 2006. Since then the resort developer has created additional properties to keep up with the ever-growing demand for luxury accommodations on the Cotai Strip. Even though the Wynn name was already synonymous with “luxury”, the Wynn Palace takes that expectation to a whole other level in Macao. This 1,700 room property cost almost $4.5 Billion to build, making it the most expensive hotel on our list. If you want to see a hotel that is decorated to the gills, you’ve got to check this one out.

After working our way through the other hotels on this top 5 list, it might be hard to imagine anything getting more extravagant than what we have seen already, but there’s more. Topping off the list and earning the #1 spot is the Galaxy Macau. The Galaxy is a site to behold, and has many intriguing works of art on display, as well as relaxing pools and waterpark too. This hotel has continued to grow in size since it was originally constructed, and the Galaxy continues to increase its earnings in recent years.
