Top 5 Mistakes to Avoid on Vacation to Costa Rica
Welcome to Frog TV – I’m Adam Baker
Let’s Stop and THINK for a moment! What are the 5 Top Mistakes to AVOID when booking your vacation to Costa Rica!
In at Number 1 – Biggest Mistake Not booking with a Local in-country Travel Agent!
Be very wary of large travel sites as they team up with the big all-inclusive resorts to get as many sales as they can for income. The problem with this - is that they promote deals for sales over client experience. We highly recommend moving away from the all-inclusive options and experience the boutique hotels that offer far better service and value for money.
When using online sites you can expect inaccurate information, doctored pictures, inaccurate reviews and poor descriptions. But the biggest thing is the lack of customer service! With online travel sites and local US agents they cannot help you if things go awry when on vacation. You can try and solve an issue but you may well be on hold for hours, eating away at your valuable vacation time.

We have none of these problems. When booking your trip we encourage you to ask us as many questions as you can – so your trip really is perfect for you. Take advantage of the human factor. And if you have an issue in country our 24/7 travel experience team are always there.

In at Number 2 - Staying at only 1 destination or staying at too many! You only have a week so don’t waste it by staying at one hotel! Costa Rica has so much to offer. However on the flip side - do not try and fit too much in to see it all! Costa Rica will be here again for a repeat visit.
Our general rule is 2 destinations for 7 days, 3 destinations, for 9 to 11 days and 4 to 5 destinations for up to 2 weeks.

For Number 3 - Avoid Traveling during the ‘High Season’.
You’ll find traveling here during the high season is extremely hot and dry and very busy! It even rains more on the Caribbean side and around the Arenal Volcano- the adventure capitol. So if you can try to travel during the transition months – April to June and October to December. Plus the prices are lower as well!

In at Number 4 - Comparing it to Mexico or Hawaii!
Don’t expect the same kind of experience. Get out of your comfort zone. There are so many things to do away from the hotels and resorts. Costa Rica is a country to be seen and explored. With a great number of tours and destinations. And remember you cannot stay at the beach and visit the volcano in a day. Costa Rica is not an island like Hawaii so it’s worth splitting your trip up. Tourism plays a big role in Costa Rica, so the service is excellent and the people friendly and welcoming.

Finally for Number 5 – Avoid Waiting till the last minute to book your trip! BIG, big error. Every year Costa Rica is becoming more and more popular. The hotels book up fast especially the better ones. So if you want your first pick aim to book around 6-8 months in advance. This way you may well find better deals on airfare as well as hotels. And if you can try to avoid Christmas it’s the busiest 2 weeks of the year and the costs sky rocket!

So there we go – our Top 5 Mistakes to avoid when booking your vacation to Costa Rica. Of course it goes without saying that the 6th mistake would be not booking with us! So click here to start your dream journey with Costa Rican Vacations! If you’re not convinced just yet check out our testimonials page as we’re very proud of the memories we’ve created.

Costa Rica Travel Tip to SAVE Your Life When Bad Things Happen This is REAL in Costa Rica no joke

We are a full service travel agency with tons of info Hey guys, BAD things can happen in Costa Rica, no doubt. Just like about anywhere else on the planet. But if you could just remember what you already know when you travel around Costa Rica, it just might save your life. Here's a reminder.
Costa Rica is a paradise. Costa Rica should be on everyone's 'Bucket List'. Costa Rica is beautiful. Costa Rica is known for it's flora and fauna and waterfalls, rivers, rainforests, hotsprings, monkeys, sloths, toucans, hummingbirds, whales, dolphins, sea turtles, kudamundis, volcanos, beaches, surf, deep sea fishing, lake fishing, hiking, snorkling, rafting, ziplining, rappelling, jungle treks just to name a few. Costa Rica is an experience of a lifetime. Costa Rica should be experienced. Costa Rica should be shared. And don't forget, some of the BEST fruits and vegetables in the world. The pineapple is to die for. So many places to visit in Costa Rica, it would take years to see it all, experience it all. Costa Rica is diverse too. The Pacific side of Costa is completely different than the Atlantic (Carribean) side. Ditto the cuisine- much more spicey on the Caribbean side, obviously.

A seasoned traveller can definitely fly solo around Costa Rica. From Costa Rican hostels, to clubbing, to couch surfing to five star hotels. One needs to be mature, a problem solver, use common sense and have an understanding of being in a different culture than from where ever it is you are from. Take taxis from club to club. Don't walk around the streets drunk, looking for your next beer or party drug. Almost every story, every bad thing- robbery, missing persons, kidnapping, murder, accidental death, drug overdose.... almost every story, every headline is because they were alone. Hiking by themselves. Clubbing by themselves. Going to ATM's by themselves. Drunk or drugging by themselves. That's is the truth of it. Seems easy enough to correct with a little common sense. You need to take some personal responsibility when travelling or roaming in another country by yourself. And this video, 'Costa Rica Travel Tip to SAVE Your Life When Bad Things Happen This is REAL in Costa Rica no joke' is a reminder of that fact. Please don't act as if you are the exception to the rule, it's not worth the possible very bad outcome. At the very least, have someone around in case you accidentally hurt yourself. EnJOY Costa and have the BEST time ever, just don't be a stupid gringo traveller on vacation. pura vida

Living CHEAP in Costa Rica Why YOU Can't Live the Simple Life in Costa Rica but I Can

#movetoCostaRica #liveinCostaRica #living abroad
Thinking about moving to Costa Rica? Want to live in Costa Rica? Retire in Costa Rica? What is the cost of living in Costa Rica? Can I live a simple life in Costa Rica with little income? How do I find a cheap rental property in Costa Rica? Can I find cheap real estate in Costa Rica? Should I buy property in Costa Rica or just rent? Why does everyone say Costa Rica is expensive?

We are a full service travel agency with tons of info Our most emailed question and I've answered numerous times, so this is it. Last video like this for awhile. Costa Rica is sooooo expensive. They say you can't live there cheap anymore. Well, I DO live cheap in Costa Rica and this is how I do it. FINAL ANSWER. I'm sorry if you can't.

So you want to live in Costa Rica. Move to Costa Rica, Retire in Costa Rica. Run a business in Costa Rica. Live the pura vida lifestyle. Live the simple life in Costa Rica. You want your house in Costa Rica. You want low property taxes in Costa Rica. You want cheap beer in Costa Rica. You want all imported goods whether it's Jif peanut butter or a Ford Mustang to be the same price you pay in the United States. You want a maid in Costa Rica. You want a lawn maintenance guy in Costa Rica. You want your house to be decked out- leather couches 80 million inch TV screen, internet speed that's so fast it uploads shit before it tell you too. Of course gas needs to be cheap. Did I say imported stuff... what I meant was all tech items- computers, phones, televisions. Amazon should come to my house in Costa Rica. Washer/dryers, refrigerators, ovens, coffee makers, crock pots, silverware, furniture should all be at least as cheap as from where I'm from. You guys don't make it in Costa Rica. Trying to replicate your life you're living but want everything cheaper. That is NOT a reason to consider Costa Rica. Please watch this video, Living Cheap in Costa Rica I Can You Can't so you move on and don't even consider Costa Rica as an option. You will be doing us and you a favor.

If you have any questions please feel free to write me at info@travelcostaricanow.com and I will try to help you out or at least point you in the right direction.

My 'Tico House' is located about a 5-minute walk from La Fortuna center. This long-term rental when it's not on AirBnB, has 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, cable TV/internet, A/C in both bedrooms, a washer. It is pretty Tico and is fairly small. Better suited for 2-3 pp but sleeps 4. Personally, I think the BEST thing about it, within walking distance from the center of town and it is in a tico neighborhood, so you get the cultural aspect as well. If you're interested, let me know. pura vida

Things NOT To Do in Costa Rica - Part 1

Exotic Costa Rica is known for its lush jungles, cool creatures and some of the finest beaches in the world. However beware of these 20 things NOT to do in Costa Rica.

1. Don't Feed the Monkeys
The adorable monkeys are a big hit with tourists, but feeding them diminishes their self-reliant survival instincts. They get lazy and don't get the exercise they need can become rather aggressive... Oh yeh and it's also against the law!

2. Don't Let Your Snake Guard Down
There are 22 venomous species of snake slithering around the country! In fact, it is estimated that there are two deadly snakes per hectare there!

3. Don't Forget to Shake Out Your Shoes
We're really not trying to scare you away, just be aware that the world's most toxic spider makes its home here and might be lurking, say... in your shoe! The Brazilian wandering spider is particularly prevalent in Corcovado National Park, and is a nightmare for arachnophobics.

4. Don't Stay at an International Chain Resort
Costa Rica is full of family-run B&Bs, sustainable eco-lodges and intimate guesthouses that often have more character and charm than the familiar chains do, and will give you a more authentic experience on your vacation.

5. Don't Expect Great Coffee!
Yes, Costa Rica grows some of the richest, boldest, most coveted coffee beans in the world. (reverb) However, most of the crop is for export, so the local cups of joe aren't necessarily homegrown!

Find out more things NOT to do in Costa Rica, in part 2!

Moving To Costa Rica - 9 Reasons Why Not To Move To Costa Rica

Costa Rica Real Estate Info #9: Fire Sales - How to Find Deals in Costa Rica

Costa Rica real estate market conditions are evolving day-by-day and many prospective buyers are beginning to hunt for fire sales. Given the economic carnage being wrought by the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had many clients contact us to start searching for truly cheap real estate.

Here are a few simple tips on how to find fire sales in Costa Rica - it's not an entirely easy process and in many instances sellers who are truly motivated have to be found by a buyer. Many times it will take submitting offers on real estate here - always in a forthright and clear manner - to find whether sellers would come down to your dream price. The alternative is to wait until sellers have publicly slashed the price, at which point your competition to buy the property might make it impossible to snag it.

Let us know if you have a question; my email is matt@cbtamarindo.com - thank you for watching!
