I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and YouTuber who's been to 53 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a YouTube full-time job.

After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).

I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.

To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.

I've travelled to North America just once as a YouTuber, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.

In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting both Kenya and Tanzania, before making my way to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai on my way to Lebanon.

Beirut (A Cultural Travel Guide): Filmed pre-explosion - but Beirut will be back (again)!

Forget what you think you know about Beirut. The Lebanese capital nowadays is a buzzing centre of culture, and fabulous food. Beirut now is probably not what you expect at all. Good news doesn't make it to the international news channels.

Is Beirut safe to visit? Yes! Of course, there are some areas to avoid and one should stay clear of protests, but that's true of Paris and most major cities.

Follow me as I spend 2 days exploring some of the sights and sounds of this famous city. Enjoy a stroll along the Corniche, take the cable car to Harissa, and browse the treasures of the Sursock Museum and the National Museum. There's falafel and ice cream along the way too.

Filmed in April 2019

THE BEIRUT OF NOW - From the Blog

Another cloud of aromatic apple tobacco smoke gently drifted across my table as I debated whether to tear off another piece of flatbread and finish the enormous bowl of creamy hummus sitting in front of me. But this was not a smoky “male only” backstreet cafe. I was in an upscale shopping mall in the Verdun district and my sheesh smoking neighbours were all expensively dressed middle aged women flicking through their mobile phones and chatting excitedly in Arabic with an occasional dose of French and English. Beirut was surprising me again.

The city became synonymous with violence during the brutal civil war that lasted from 1975 to 1990. “I just picked myself up, dusted down and thought “I’m still here”” said Fouad, describing his survival of three car bombs. Fouad, a Maronite Christian, was driving me out to Harissa, where the statue of Our Lady of Lebanon peers down from its vantage point high above the city’s noise. By his own admission he had lost all the innocent years of his youth as a result of the deadly and senseless conflict, yet his gentle eyes showed no anger. “I want people to come back to my lovely country” he said with a smile as the cable car sailed up, almost knocking plant pots from balconies.

Earlier in the day I had questioned my own previous trepidation as I mingled with joggers and fishermen on the famous Corniche. I had wandered past modern art galleries and boutiques in what was once the perilous Green Line and now I was now relaxing on the sun-drenched courtyard cafe at the Sursock museum indulging crunchy falafel and tabbouleh. I had just stocked up on small designer gifts at the museum shop and enjoyed a snapshot of Lebanon’s vibrant contemporary art scene. All the negative preconceptions were disappearing as fast as my glass of ice-cold zesty handmade lemonade.

However, there are concerns in Beirut that too much of the past is disappearing. The imposing Mohammed Al-Amin mosque is now surrounded by Dubai style apartments and the bells of the Maronite cathedral of St George have to compete with the sound of relentless construction. The iconic shell of the Holiday Inn will surely be counting its days. Forget the over-used epithet of “Paris of the East”, it’s the Beirut of Now that commands your attention, and quickly.

As we waited for the cable car to whisk us down again Fouad had another twinkle in his eye. “I’m going to take you to try the best ice cream, not just in Lebanon, but in the whole world!” It looked as if this city was going to surprise me again!

The best sunset spot in Lebanon (Cedars of Lebanon) ????????

In today's video we make our way over to the Cedars of Lebanon (or some refer to them as the Cedars of God) where we explore the beautiful trails with thousand year old trees. After exploring, we make a visit over to Cafe de Ced located next to the cedars to eat a ton of traditional Lebanese food. After finishing the meal, we make our way over to one of the most beautiful sunset spots I have ever seen before.

5 Fun Things To Do in Jounieh, Lebanon

#jounieh #jouniehlebanon #jouniehtelepherique

In this video, we'll take you on a tour of 5 fun things to do in Jounieh, Lebanon. The best part is that if you start in the morning, all 5 of these Jounieh activities can be done in less than 24 hours. In fact, you'll even be left with time to spare so you can enjoy the Jounieh nightlife.

Start your day by riding the Jounieh Telepherique / Jounieh Teleferique up to Harissa to see the Statue of Our Lady of Lebanon, a 13-ton sculpture of the Virgin Mary that overlooks the Bay of Jounieh.

Next, take the Jounieh Telepherique back down towards the old souks of Jounieh. While there's no particular order in which to enjoy this beautiful coastal Lebanese city, you could opt to grab lunch at Margherita Mare, or any of the nice restaurants nestled on the Jounieh Bay.

Head to nearby Jeita Grotto, the largest cave system in the Middle East and a near inclusion for the 7 Natural Wonders of The World. For a more in-depth look at the Jeita Grotto, check out our video of these famous Lebanese caves:

Also, Jounieh has lots of walkways and paths for walking and bicycling near the Jounieh Port. It's especially pleasant to stroll this area during the summer. You can walk from the Jounieh souk right to the bike paths and there are also playgrounds for kids.

Additionally, you can go paragliding in Jounieh, sunbathe on the Jounieh beaches, try your luck at the Casino Du Liban, and grab a drink at Palms Beach House in old souk of Jounieh.

The Jounieh nightlife and entertainment is plentiful. The food scene is excellent as well.

As for restaurants in Jounieh, grab a bite at La Creperie in nearby Kaslik, eat in a telepherique cable car on the beach at La Funivia, enjoy fine dining at the French restaurant Zeralda, or let the kids roam and eat at the Peninsula Restaurant and Gardens or go alone later at night for string lights and candles romantic ambiance.

In any case, there's no shortage of activities in Jounieh. However, if you need to Byblos and Beirut are just a short drive North and South, respectively.

10 Things NOT To Do in Lebanon!

For a nation on the border of Syria and Israel, you might expect some possibility of danger when visiting Lebanon. You'd be right. If you want to maximize your chances of having a pleasant vacation, here are some things not to do on a Lebanese holiday.

1. Don’t Be Afraid!
The people in Lebanon are perfectly friendly and the country is filled with gorgeous landmarks and fascinating history. Just relax and enjoy yourselves.

2. Make Sure to Dress Appropriately
Lebanon is a pretty conservative Arab country. Men and women are expected to avoid wearing anything more revealing than short-sleeves and shorts. Make sure your clothing is loose-fitting; women should consider covering their heads as well.

3. Don’t Just Stay in Beirut
Lebanon has some really gorgeous locations outside its most popular tourist spot. The people are generally hospitable and warm, and you can’t really say you’ve experienced true Lebanese culture until you’ve experienced something beyond Beirut.

4. Don’t Get Into a Taxi Without Agreeing on a Price
Some tourists have complained that they were “taken” by cab drivers when they couldn’t agree on a final price. Avoid this by telling the cabbie where you’re going and agreeing on a price before you get in the car.

5. Don’t Forget that ‘Traveler’s Diarrhea’ Is a Real Thing
If you’ve never traveled to a developing nation, you should be aware that your first-world immune system might take a small hit … like, right when you land. Sometimes the jolt to your bowels hits quickly but it’ll pass quickly, don’t worry.

6. Don’t Take Pics of the Military
You can look at their installations, but your best bet is to simply keep your eyes on the beautiful scenery, not on the men trying to defend it.

7. Stay Away from Dahiyeh
The world famous suburb in southern Beirut has attracted lots of attention. Don’t go see it for yourself. The residents of Dahiyeh are just suburbanites who don’t appreciate being gawked at by some leering tourist.

8. Don’t Skip the Street Food
Lebanon is known for its scrumptious street food. There are several excellent meals served on a street corner, so if you’re just sticking to the glitzy restaurants, then you’re missing out on an integral part of Lebanese culture.

9. Don’t Take Pictures of the Locals Without Permission
There’s not some old world spooky superstition attached to this one, it’s just rude. How would you feel if you were walking down the street and a group of people wearing traditional Arab garb started taking pictures of you?

10. The State Department’s Opinion
Earlier in the year, the Department of State issued a clear warning to avoid travel to Lebanon thanks to political upheaval, skirmishes and other threats. In fact, the State Department has said that it cannot guarantee its ability to transport US citizens out of the country should the situation worsen.

Did you disagree with any of these?
