Dublin Travel Guide 2022 - Best Places to Visit in Dublin Ireland in 2022

Dublin Travel Guide 2022 - Best Places to Visit in Dublin Ireland in 2022

Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, is on Ireland’s east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and imposing St Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include landscaped St Stephen’s Green and huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo. The National Museum of Ireland explores Irish heritage and culture.

The Republic of Ireland occupies most of the island of Ireland, off the coast of England and Wales. Its capital, Dublin, is the birthplace of writers like Oscar Wilde, and home of Guinness beer. The 9th-century Book of Kells and other illustrated manuscripts are on show in Dublin’s Trinity College Library. Dubbed the Emerald Isle” for its lush landscape, the country is dotted with castles like medieval Cahir Castle.

Video Transcript:

For a small country there is a lot to do
in Ireland and we just love visiting
there. So we wanted to round up all the
best thing that you should do when you
visit Ireland.
Number 1 on the list for me was definitely
visiting and kissing Blarney Stone.
If you head down south of Dublin you can go down down to Blarney Castle
Which is beautiful and Kiss that famous Stone.
Do you feel smarter?
I do feel smarter, I feel like I could resight some poetry right now.
While you're down there. Visit Cork,
And you can go and ring the Bells of Shandon
How often do you you get to go to the bell tower
And ring bells it's so cool.
And while you're in the South make sure you check out
Bru na Boinne
It's one of the most ancient structures in the world at five thousand BC
Now, we've all seen Star Wars right, the most recent one?
Well then you have to go to Skellig Michael
where that final scene was shot
out there and see where these monks
lived in these beehive caves. Awesome.
Get to know the Irish culture a bit by taking part in
the Celtic games. Go to Kilkenny a great
medieval city in its own right and learn
the art of hurling.
If you come to Kilkenny, do the Kilkenny Way
And learn about Hurling!
One of my favorite places to visit was the
Cliffs of Moher which are one of the
highest sea cliffs and all of Europe. And
man to look down and see it right on
the Atlantic Ocean
that's an awesome thing to see.
If you want to avoid the crowds but you love cliffs
Make sure to go to Mizen Head. It is extraordinary
And this was where Marconi sent his first wireless.
Hello. Hello. Testing? Testing? I got nothing.
And even higher cliff than the Cliffs of
Moher arts Slieve League
A little bit farther up on the Wild
Atlantic way. And you can walk all the way
out there and take in those impressive
views.
Speaking of the wild Atlantic way you
have got to drive the wild Atlantic Way.
It's the world's longest coastal route and
most of the best sights of Ireland are
located along this highway.
This is the Wild Atlantic Way.
And if you're looking to get off the
mainland make sure you head out to the
Aran Islands these three island just off
the Maine coast great to explore by bike
or by foot Cycling in Ireland. Gotta love it
Another great offshore stop in Ireland
Is to go to the Saltee Islands in
County Wexford
This is where you'll see great seabird populations
And seals playing in the water
We got to take a trip out to the Well so Souls
which is the Burren area of the wild
Atlantic Way
These tombs are prehistoric.
They date back somewhere around 2,900 BC
something it's it's unlike any scenery
or any landscape I ever ever seen.
And the best place to base yourself or start from when you're exploring Ireland is
Dublin. Its full of pubs, history, and of
course the home of Guinness.
Make sure you check out our video of the best things to do in Dublin and that we can
really find out all the great things to
do like going to be the Book of Kells
If you're looking for hiking adventure make sure you check out the Wicklow Mountains
There are some amazing hiking trails and it's pretty close to Dublin.
So there are so many things to do in Ireland
Ireland and I hope that we help you plan
your next trip to the Emerald Isle.

Our visit Dublin travel guide covers some of the top attractions including the best in arts, entertainment, museums, nightlife and restaurants. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Dublin city guide.

25 things to do in Dublin Ireland | Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript:

Trinity College was founded in 1592 and it is the oldest university in Ireland. The campus is open to visitors interested in touring the grounds, and you'll also get to hear some fascinating stories of famous students, including the likes of Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Bram Stoker.

The Guinness Storehouse is Dublin's most popular attraction, and it's a must-visit for beer lovers. The Storehouse covers seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. Inside you'll also find a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness on the brewery site - they won't be going anywhere for a while!

Grafton Street is one of the main shopping areas in Dublin. You're likely to find lots of musicians, buskers, and performers along here, plus you get a good vantage point of The Spire.

Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no place of their own to bury their dead. This burial ground gave both Irish Catholics and Protestants a place where they could give their dead dignified burial, and it has since become the resting place for people of all religions and non religions.

Experience Gaelic Games is a place where you can come and try traditional Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football.

The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. It is now a visitor centre that offers both guided tours and whiskey tastings.

Temple Bar is an area known for its lively nightlife. Located on the southbank of the River Liffey, you'll find all sorts of pubs playing live music once the sun goes down. There's also one pub in Temple Bar, called The Temple Bar, but don't let that confuse you.

And that's a wrap for our time in Dublin! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it gave you a few ideas of what the city has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in Dublin as a visitor, feel free to share them in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!

Dublin and Mystical Side Trips

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Dublin's story is of feast and famine — from its 18th-century Golden Age to its 20th-century struggles for independence to its boomtime today. We explore the town's foreboding castle and patriotic jail, plus Trinity College with its Book of Kells. Later we party in Temple Bar, awash in Celtic music and Guinness. We side-trip to the prehistoric necropolis of Newgrange and the medieval monastery at Glendalough, deep in the scenic Wicklow Mountains. © 2002 Rick Steves' Europe #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #ireland

The Shocks of Visiting Ireland

What to Know Before You Visit Ireland

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.
