Caña Negro lets you take a relaxing safari boat to see its many animal inhabitants. You can also check out Tortuguero National Park or see sloths on the Bogarin Trail. One of the best things to do in La Fortuna if you want to see everything it has to offer is Arenal National Park. It’s the best place to start because you’ll see many famous sites. These include Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal.

La Fortuna has hanging bridges that sit over its beautiful jungles and let you watch wildlife from on high. One of the best places to see them is in the Mistico Arenal Park. Years of volcanic activity are part of what makes La Fortuna such a popular destination. It has a wide range of hot springs and warm pools to help you melt your worries away. Thrill-seekers will love flying through the jungle like Tarzan. They can go ziplining or jump off the El Sato rope swing. La Fortuna also has rivers with rapids that are large enough to travel down on a raft or inner tube.

La Fortuna is more than a jungle thanks to spots like La Fortuna Town. It’s full of delicious restaurants and a perfect place to meet the locals. Most tours of La Fortuna take you to popular tourist spots like Arenal Volcano, but a few are more specialized. You can go on one that will help you learn about the process of making coffee, chocolate, or both.

My perfect La Fortuna Itinerary | Review & Guide

#LaFortunaItinerary #ThingstodoLaFortuna #ArenalTrips

Wrapping up 4 days in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, I wanted to do a quick review and also include what would be my perfect itinerary for La Fortuna and Arenal if I could have my time back.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in La Fortuna. The climate is great. Sure, it does rain a bit but it doesn't have the stifling heat that Costa Rica's coast has. It's peaceful. You wake up to a crazy amount of birdsong. There's loads of stuff to do from volcano treks, waterfalls, hot springs and zip lining. Essentially the whole of La Fortuna is set up for tourism so it's super easy to organise various trips and everyone is incredibly helpful.

If you're in Costa Rica I would highly recommend making the trip to La Fortuna. Personally, I would visit Arenal/La Fortuna after the coast so that you have some contrast both in terms of climate and in terms of how relaxing it can be.

Here's my perfect itinerary for La Fortuna over 4 days. As you can see, there's loads of things to do in La Fortuna:

Day 1: Rio Celeste. A full day trip about 1 hour and 45 minutes from La Fortuna. It involves a hike to the river and waterfalls where the water is, well, a crazy colour. Turquoise, baby blue water. The photos and videos almost look fake.

Day 2: Ziplining. Sky Adventures are the most well known company in the area but you have a number to choose from. The zip lines themselves are very high and very long, some are 170m high and 800m long, giving you an incredible view of the surrounding area.

You could also go white water rafting - we actually bumped into a group that had just returned from white water rafting and they were very impressed!

Day 3: Mistico Hanging Bridges. Get there early so that you are the first ones in the park and take your time at the first bridge (it has the best views). Incredibly peaceful and if you're lucky you'll be able to see Arenal Volcano over the rainforest canopy.

Follow this up with La Fortuna Waterfall in the afternoon. You can go to the waterfall in the morning but it might be too cold to really enjoy. The free waterfalls are very close to the main La Fortuna waterfall so you can easily do both in a couple of hours.

Day 4: Hot Springs. We went to Tabacón Resort & Spa which is one of the more premium hot springs, but you do have multiple options. Just relax and soak yourself in the natural volcanic thermal spas. Again, you can also do the free ones either as a cheaper option or in addition to the paid hot springs.

And enjoy!

TOP THINGS TO DO in La Fortuna, Costa Rica | Ziplining, Hot Springs, & More

This week, we take you to the outdoor adventure paradise of La Fortuna, Costa Rica, to show you some of the top things to do in this outdoor adventure lover's paradise. We'll show you ziplining around Arenal volcano, dipping into one of Arenal's top hot springs locations, Ecotermales, and take you to the beautiful waterfall near La Fortuna: Catarata Rio Fortuna.

La Fortuna is a small town that sits in the shadow of a large and very impressive volcano called Arenal Volcano. It is a town filled with shops offering different outdoor adventure tours, like rafting or ziplining, hotels, and restaurants of all types of cuisines. The town itself is fun to walk around in, especially at night when other travelers are out hitting the town's bars and restaurants.

One of the most popular things to do in La Fortuna is to go to one of the many hot springs around the area. Being at the base of Arenal volcano, the area around La Fortuna is filled with natural volcanic hot springs. Many of the hot springs are owned privately by hotels or resorts, which cost money to enter, but there is a public option that is free. We chose to go to the Ecotermales Fortuna, which is a hot springs spa located about 5 minutes outside of the city. The spa has a hot springs stream that runs directly into the pools that make up Ecotermales, so the water is completely natural. One thing we loved about Ecotermales is that it offered pools of different temperatures ranging from cool to very hot (around 104 degrees fahrenheit). It was a really lovely experience!

Our favorite thing that we did in the Arenal area was to go ziplining. We chose to go with Sky Adventures Arenal, who are located on the other side of the volcano from La Fortuna. Sky Adventures has a zip line course that consists of 7 different zip lines that crisscross across a wide valley. Zooming down the ziplines on the Sky Adventures course has been one of our favorite experiences so far on travel, especially because of the beautiful views of Arenal Volcano!

THINGS TO DO IN LA FORTUNA COSTA RICA (HOT SPRINGS & VOLCANO)

There are many things to do in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. We spent two nights in this area of Costa Rica. While there, we marveled at Arenal Volcano, relaxed in the volcanic hot springs of Termalitas del Arenal, saw plenty of wildlife, and ate delicious food. We definitely wished we could have spent more than two nights in La Fortuna.

After leaving the Rio Celeste area of Costa Rica, we drove about an hour south to La Fortuna. We stayed at Casa Torre Eco Lodge and both agreed that it was one of our favorite stays. The views of Arenal Volcano from our bungalow were spectacular. We also spotted monkeys, a sloth, hummingbirds, and a Toucan during our stay. The host, Jonathan, was so kind and helpful. He made our stay absolutely wonderful. The restaurant right next to the lodge also had really nice Costa Rican food. It was challenging to get up the road in a small car, but we made it up each time.

One of the best activities to do in La Fortuna is to visit a hot spring. There are tons of hot springs to choose from when visiting the La Fortuna area. Jonathan recommended that we visit Termalitas del Arenal. We spent a few hours moving from pool to pool. Each pool had something unique and was a different temperature. The hot water in Termalitas comes from Arenal Volcano. Termalitas was reasonably priced ($8), clean, and not crowded. There were plenty of picnic tables available and a restaurant.

Our time in La Fortuna flew by. If we had the chance to stay longer, we would have visited Arenal Volcano National Park and Mistico Hanging Bridges.

What to do in La Fortuna Costa Rica - Includes Tabacon Springs & Mystico & La Fortuna Waterfall

This video was really hard to put together as i just had too much footage and so much to say!
I stayed at both the Tabacon Resorts and Nayara Tented camp. I am aware i didn't discuss either in a lot of detail so will be putting up separate videos on each of the hotels so look out for a more in-depth hotel tour.

Costa Rica is an amazing place to visit. We saw so many animals and it was so peaceful. I would recommend it for anyone looking for an adventure.
